"Life is lived forward, but understood backward. It is not until we are down the road and we stand on the mountain looking back through the valley that we can appreciate the terrain God has allowed us to scale.” Jill Savage

Now, this song, may not seem like much to the average person , but it is a metamorphosis of sorts - in a song! I saw Jennifer sing it on the CMA awards. It starts out where she is begging 'him' to stay and he leaves her for someone (something) else. Then it shows how she starts to see the truth and by the end she is up off her knees. Somewhere in there her self esteem grows. Then she gets up on her own two feet and tells him to stay and she leaves. Big song to me.

Artist/Band: Sugarland

Lyrics for Song: Stay
Lyrics for Album: Enjoy The Ride

I've been sittin' here stairin'
at the clock on the wall
And I've been layin' here prayin'
Prayin' she won't call
It's just another call from home
and you'll get it and be gone
and I'll be cryin'

And I'll be beggin' you baby
Beg you not to leave

But I'll be left here waitin'
My Heart on my sleeve
Oh for the next time we'll be here
seems like a million years
and I think I'm dyin'

What do I have to do
to make you see
She can't love you like me

Why don't you stay
I'm down on my knees

I'm so tired of bein' lonely
Don't I give you what you need
When she calls you to go

There is one thing you should know
We don't have to live this way

Baby, why don't you stay

You keep tellin' me baby
There will come a time
When you will leave her arms
And forever be in mine

But I don't think that's the truth

And I don't like bein' used
and I'm tired of waitin'

It's too much pain to have to bare
To love a man you have to share
Why don't you stay

I'm down on my knees
I'm so tired of bein' lonely
Don't I give you what you need

When she calls you to go
There is one thing you should know
We don't have to live this way
Baby, why don't you stay

I can't take it any longer

but my will is gettin' stronger

And I think I know
just what I have to do
I can't waste another minute
After all that I've put in it
I've given you my best
Why does she get the best of you

So next time you find
you wanna leave her bed for mine
Why don't you stay
I'm up off my knees

I'm so tired of bein' lonely
You can't give me what I need

When she begs you not to go
There is one thing you should know
I don't have to live this way
Baby why don't you stay

You could concentrate why is she with another man when he has someone (something) else - well it's a good song. Think deeply with me here. That's not exactly the point of the song.

She starts out in the relationship (or in her life) insecure and needy. Something else, it doesn't even have to be another woman, but something else is always getting in the way of their relationship. Then she starts to grow. Then she goes full circle. She gets better and is off to find her life.

Did I Tell you I wrote a book and hope this school year (my year's cycle) to get it published. It's called 'Full Circle' and it is about this very topic.

The circle is that she started the song by begging him to stay - by the end of the song she begged him to stay with the other woman (something else)! She had found herself. She accepted where she was and what she was. Now she can find what she really needs and wants in life. Something good and worthy enough of her.

Kind of cute and empowering.

Love,

Chatty
