"Life is lived forward, but understood backward. It is not until we are down the road and we stand on the mountain looking back through the valley that we can appreciate the terrain God has allowed us to scale.” Jill Savage

There is even a poem about being thankful for the hard times.

I must take care, on the one hand, never to despise, or be un-thankful for, these earthly blessings, and on the other, never to mistake them for the something else of which they are only a kind of copy, or echo, or mirage.-C.S. Lewis
Isn't that the truth. As I ride in my car I so often look out there and see the difference of the way things are made by us and the way things are made by God. We make sharp, unsightly things, while God's masterpiece is always so gorgeous.
I haven't shared that over the last month my father in law has been ill. His birthday is in December - he would have been 93 years old. Anyway he plummeted this last week. My husband flew up to be with him and was with him when he past away Friday. Kudos to my husband, believe me if you knew him, this was doing something way beyond what he thought he could do or wanted to do. And he did it. We'll be traveling back up north this week, my daughter, grandson, and myself. I have the laptop, so I'll still be writing.
So you see this past week was as much for me as it was for you. Bad things happen to good people. I know where Ernie is. He was a Saint! You ever think about birth and death - two things you have to go though no matter who you are. Both take plans. All the arrangements and all the canceling of plans. It proves you can stop what you're doing when it's important. Anyway no parents left - we're it! Think about your circle and your circle barriers . . .

Love,Chatty

My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
I lost both of my parents over 13 years ago and it is such a strange time in life. It does make you think more about the life after and reflect on your own life.
Take care of yourself and try to get some rest.
