"Life is lived forward, but understood backward. It is not until we are down the road and we stand on the mountain looking back through the valley that we can appreciate the terrain God has allowed us to scale.” Jill Savage

"The only way to keep the mind pure is by constantly scrubbing it of the opinions that accumulate like grime. Visualize them floating upwards, like bubbles rising in clear water. " Chet Day (My interpretation of that quote- is to keep your mind from being negative is to constantly scrub it with positive and happy thought. Visualize the negativity leaving your body. Chatty)
Now, I think the following is important. It has been downloaded on the Internet over a million times and then Oprah had this man on her show. The Internet version is about 70 (?) minutes the Oprah one much shorter - plus he gets a little bit more personal.

It's about Randy Pausch - a professor who knows he's dying in a few months from pancreas cancer. Now, I can't say he talks from a Christian perspective, but it still really good - how to achieve your childhood dream - or I think a better title would have been how to live your life to the fullest. He didn't make his last speech at school for the 400 students and he's not exactly on Oprah for the public, he's done all this to document his life and leave some advice for his three little children.

It does make you think though and I love where he talks about buying a brand new convertible car. He used to take his sisters two kids for the weekend once a month (this was way cool in itself) - his sister gave the kids a lecture about keeping the car clean. This Randy took a coke, opened it, and poured it in the back of the car. The little ones and his sister were shocked. He said, "It's just a car." Thank goodness he said, "One of them got the flu on the way home and threw up all over his car!" He said that the best gift of all was not making the little boy feel bad.

Now I admit, I couldn't have done that, but imagine if we could all be just a little more relaxed and loving in this world - what the world would be like.

My mom always said how can their be world peace, when families can't even get along. Hmmmm. (Miss you mom.)
