"Life is lived forward, but understood backward. It is not until we are down the road and we stand on the mountain looking back through the valley that we can appreciate the terrain God has allowed us to scale.” Jill Savage

Look Upward if you can . . .

Look outward and be distressed,Look inward and be depressed,Look upward and be at rest. -Corrie Ten Boom

Have you ever read her story? It is one of the most amazing stories you'll ever read. She was one of the strongest women I've ever read about.

Her story of forgiveness after what all they did to her in the concentration camps (she wasn't even Jewish).

They killed her sister.

How God performed a miracle for her.

How she forgave one of her captors.

'The Hiding Place' is a book about how she and her family opened their home as a refuge to some Jewish people, were found out, and then taken as prisoner's as well.

Perfection, in a Christian sense, means becoming mature enough to give ourselves to others.

And don't forgot he said to love (take care of) yourself.

That's the hard part I think...remembering to take care of yourself.
We were raised not to be selfish, then life fills up and we'r so busy giving ourselves away to others. I think, that now...after a certain age...I just turned 57 a few weeks ago...that "it" comes back to us, and we can finally, remember to do this. I think that's why we enrich ourselves with thought, books, quotes, feelings, and doing little tiny things that make "us" feel better. Sort of heal ourselves from a lifetime of hurts, and knicks that we picked up along the road of life. I'm going to start doing it more and more. Finally, as Shakespeare said...to thy own self be true.

You are absolutely right. We spend our youth growing up and we spend our old age growing down. It's more fun the second half - don't you agree?

I read that book and still have it. The story of the vitamin bottle and the house stay with me (if I'm remembering correctly).

I have not read the story but i can only say that forgiveness is the greatest virtue of the human character. Like Shakespeare in his play - Merchant of Venice- has written that mercy is a double edged sword. It blesses the giver as God is happy with him and also the one to whom it is shown, as he will thank the giver.
