"Life is lived forward, but understood backward. It is not until we are down the road and we stand on the mountain looking back through the valley that we can appreciate the terrain God has allowed us to scale.” Jill Savage

Before You Do by T.D. Jakes

My friend told me about this book - and in turn I told my daughter about it. T.D.Jakes has written a book on making great decisions that you won't regret. Mainly about getting married. He does not believe in divorce as a Christian, but does feel there are a couple instances it is warranty in addition to the two listed in the Bible - sometimes he believes it is necessary in order to save the mental, physical, or emotional well being of an individual. Hard hearts - toxicity can be lethal to some. "Sometimes divorce is the only way to put an end to a season of pain, suffering, and loneliness that is far worse than the after effects of the separation".. Verbal or physical abuse and /or serious dishonesty. My friend who gave me this book just went through a divorce.

A couple of ideas from here I'd like to remember and share (and too bad we didn't have all this information when we were younger).

"Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future". John F. Kennedy In other words - don't blame others for your problems.

"Why love if losing hurts so much? We love to know that we are not alone". C.C.Lewis (Did you ever read or see Shadowlands - I recommend that highly).

"Love is like the measles. The older you get it, the worse the attack". Rainer Maria Rilke

"Love is blind, but marriage restores the sight". George C. Lichtenberg LOL

"The goal in marriage is not to think alike, but to think together". Robert C. Dodds. Like this one.

To live is to choose. But to choose well, you must know who you are and what you stand for, where you want to go and why you want to get there". Kofi Annan

"A house is a home when it shelters the body and comforts the soul". Phillip Moffitt

"A divorce is like an amputation; you survive it, but there is less of you". Margaret Atwood.

"Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body". Elizabeth Stone Couldn't have put it any better.

"The most important of life's battles is the one we fight daily in the silent chambers of the soul". David McKay Again so true.

"Nothing is more difficult, and therefore more precious, than to be able to decide". Napoleon Bonaparte

Love,
Chatty

PS Happy birthday to Jane Meadows - born in 1920 and still alive.

She had a long marriage to Steve Allen until his death in 2000. She must know the secret . . .
