Music can be all things to all persons.

Music can be all things to all persons. It is like a great dynamic sun in the center of a solar system which sends out its rays and inspiration in every direction....Music makes us feel that the heavens open and a divine voice calls. Something in our souls responds and understands.
- Leopold Stokowski“

Trisha YearwoodFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Born September 19, 1964 Monticello, Georgia

1. Discovered by Garth Brooks in the late 1980s. She married him too!

2. With "She's in Love with the Boy," Yearwood became the first female country artist in almost twenty years to reach #1 on the country charts with a debut single.

3. In 2001, in conjunction with the movie, The Tangerine Bear, Yearwood joined with the Children's Foundation and donated a mobile electronic fun center to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.

4. In April 2008, Yearwood released her first cookbook co-written with her mother, Gwen and sister, Beth entitled, Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen.

5. In 1996, while flying from Nevada to New York, Trisha saved a man's life. Francesco Maccarrone, a baggage handler, was trapped in the belly of the plane. When the plane left the gate, Trisha heard pounding and screaming from under her seat and insisted the pilot stop the plane. After he emerged from the plane a shaken but relieved Francesco said, "I was a big Reba fan, but now I'm an even bigger Trisha fan."

We went last Saturday - before I came down with the flu - to the rehab center my nephew is in. He seems to be doing great - has even put on a little weight. The program is extremely Christian based. He'll have been there a year this October.

Anyway - the service - was 3 plus hours long. I have to tell you it was just awesome. I've never been in church for three hours before I don't think. But they had all these musical acts. Different genres. Bluegrass, rock and roll, country, etc. It was awesome. And how fitting it is with a quote about the power of music and that it is Trisha's birthday!

Something happened that amazed me. There was a trio of women singing. They came to one song and while they were waiting to get the problem with the music fixed they started talking. It was not rehearsed. It was like the spirit of God had moved them.

Now here I was admiring them and they were so pretty and self confident - there I was wishing I could sing like that - and wham - the first woman is talking to the group of 'ex' addicts telling them that her 23 year old son was lost in sexual addiction and would we all pray for him. The second woman spoke and said her pain with God was that she was never able to have children and the third one spoke up telling us how sick she was!

Was it the music? The presence of the men there? The presence of God? Maybe all three moved them.

What I wanted to express and remember from this experience is - no matter who we are or where we are or how we present ourselves - we all have our huge problems. We may think someone is perfect and then when the walls come down - we see they are human - like us.

I guess (?) the difference is some people can open up and others just can't. Personally, sharing to me made my respect for them deeper. No surprise there though - huh? I learned so much and I appreciated their honesty. What an amazing trio of women.

I agree with you on what music can do for people. I love reading Pslams 148-150 where David talks about music.
