Past - Present - Future

QUESTION:

If someone offered you a million dollars today or offered you $0.01 today and each day for one month, said they would double it (day one $.01 - day two $.02 - day 3 $.04 and so on), and at the end of the month you could have that amount - which would you chose to take?

Happy Birthday Rosa Parks - A courageous woman . . .

"I did not want to be mistreated, I did not want to be deprived of a seat that I had paid for. It was just time... there was opportunity for me to take a stand to express the way I felt about being treated in that manner. I had not planned to get arrested. I had plenty to do without having to end up in jail. But when I had to face that decision, I didn't hesitate to do so because I felt that we had endured that too long. The more we gave in, the more we complied with that kind of treatment, the more oppressive it became."

Remember the past and learn from it. Relish the present and live in it. Respond to the future and lean toward it.

I like the quote on the 'bubbles' card - more people should read it and take it to heart! I try to keep it in mind when interacting with people - even telemarketers!!! They can be the worst pests!

I'd probably take the million, Sandie. Then I'd find out that the other method would be much more. Such is my life. ha ha Nice post. Sincerely, Susan from writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com

I'm afraid I'd take the million cause God doesn't promise we will be here in a month. A bird in the hand is worth more than 2 in the bush...
LOL...maybe that's why I always come up short, I don't like to gamble or take risk.

I'm too much of a "now" person to wait. So I would take the million. Maybe while I'm waiting in the carpool line today I will figure out which way would be more. lol Probably the latter because good things come to those that wait, right?

I took a financial planning workshop once -- the power of compounding is incredible. I think this would come to about 14 million dollars! Teach your kids to put a dollar a day into a savings account -- wish I had!

It's not nice to be greedy, so I'll just call it a day, and settle for the little ol' million please. I have big plans for it...involving more road trips, walks on the beach and a log cabin in the woods. Two sheep for the corgi kids, another corgi or two, no mortgage, money in the bank, and money to help some friends and family. Visit all the national parks, and see ALL of America. Oh, and endless meals at Cracker Barrel. Ok, dream is over.
Good post, love the biographies.

I'd take the penny one; I think I read that somewhere and it compounds to being more money :)

when I saw the bus...where was it? Detroit? Anyway, I wanted to sit where Rosa sat. I just wanted to feel her and draw on her courageous strength!

That Money Question was one that my Dad asked me and then explained when I was about 10 years old... And the main idea of learning from the past and standing up for what you know is right is another thing that came through from both my Mom and my Dad. These are truly important things to realize and take to heart! Although, Molly has a valid point... :)
