Hump day . . .

I have a friend, Linda, who send me a picture of a 30 year old cabbage patch that someone made. She still had it! Can you guess who this is? He was on Star Trek. Spock! I think that day a lot of remembered the cabbage patch doll - a good memory. Can you think of anything else like that - that we waited in line for?

I wonder if, before we were born, we were as afraid of life as we are now of death. - Jay Williams

That quote got me to thinking. Do you think that our soul is alive in Heaven before we are born on earth? I wonder about that sometimes. Is death like birth?

And some believers think that when you die you go to Heaven right away and others believe you go to sleep and wait for his second coming. I believe the first. What are your thoughts?

Chatty just thinking . . . and what is a day without laughter?

Happy birthday Oscar Schindler and thank you - Wikipedia

By the end of the war Schindler had spent his entire fortune on bribes and black-market purchases of supplies for his workers. Virtually destitute, he moved briefly to Regensburg, Germany and, later, Munich, but did not prosper in postwar Germany. In fact, he was reduced to receiving assistance from Jewish organizations.

Eventually, Schindler emigrated to Argentina in 1948, where he went bankrupt. He left his wife Emilie in 1957 and returned to Germany in 1958, where he had a series of unsuccessful business ventures.

Schindler settled down in a small apartment at Am Hauptbahnhof Nr. 4 in Frankfurt am Main, West Germany and tried again – with help from a Jewish organization – to establish a cement factory. This, too, went bankrupt in 1961. His business partners cancelled their partnership.

In 1968 he began receiving a small pension from the West German government. In 1971 Oskar Schindler moved to live with friends at Goettingstrasse Nr. 30 in Hildesheim, Germany. Due to a heart complaint he was taken to the Saint Bernward Hospital in Hildesheim on 12 September 1974, where he died on 9 October 1974, at the age of 66. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by friends and family.[10][not in citation given] The costs for his stay in the hospital were paid from social welfare of the city of Hildesheim.

Oskar Schindler's graveAfter a Requiem Mass, Schindler was buried at the Catholic Franciscans' cemetery at Mount Zion in Jerusalem, the only member of the Nazi Party to be honoured in this way.[ Stones placed on top of the grave are a sign of gratitude from Jewish visitors, according to Jewish tradition, although Schindler himself was not Jewish. On his grave, the Hebrew inscription reads 'Righteous Gentile', and the German inscription reads 'The Unforgettable Lifesaver of 1200 Persecuted Jews'.

No one knows what Schindler's motives were. However, he was quoted as saying "I knew the people who worked for me... When you know people, you have to behave toward them like human beings."

Whatever his motives were - he did the right thing in the mist of adversity.

Not so much what I think as what God's Word says...."Absent from the body...present with the Lord."

Interesting variety in this post :)

Hey Sandie!

Cute picture of the old Spock cabbage patch!

I had always believed that when we die we go immediately to heaven or hell. Then my mom read something to me from the Bible that she heard preached over the radio that now I'm just not sure. There is a passage in the Bible that says that we go to sleep until the second comming. So I just don't know. All I know is that I want to be in heaven in the end!

Hugs,
Angela

Good Morning Sweetie...
Love this post. Love the Cabbage Patch Doll. So cute. Stood in line for those, and stood in line for Furbies. (I still have mine and he still talks when he is woken up.) Love it.

I am going straight to heaven. I do not believe there is any other way. (Ofcourse just my opinion, as we are all entitled.)

You asked about Marydon and I. Only our Mother knows for sure. Our thoughts, our loves, our colors, likes and dislikes are so close that we feel we should be twins.

Have a beautiful day sweetie. I so adore coming to visit. You are just precious. Country hugs, Sherry

Wow, did I ever pick a doosy to leave my first comment here on. For you are touching on at least three very different topics. Has anyone ever checked any of you for possibly having multiple personalities?

Anyway, I can remember searching far and wide to get my oldest daughter a Cabbage Patch Kid for Christmas the first year they came out (I think). I don't remember which one it was, and I have no idea if she still has it.

The second topic I would like to comment about is what happens after we die. Sadly, our Heavenly Father has not revealed anything specific to me about that, except that physical death marks the end of the pain and sufferings of this world, which is good enough for me.

Finally, Schindler's List is one of my wife and I's favorite movies. From what I have read about it, it was very authentically done, and I would like to believe that great will be Mr. Schindler's reward, come Judgment Day--despite his indiscretions.

I believe we go to heaven right away. That comforts me. The waiting seems cold and sad. I loved Cabbage Patch and I got one the Christmas they were "the hot item". I thought I was so cool.

Hi Sandie! Loved today's post. Loved it! Next time my back is itchy, I know exactly what I' going to do...head for that hill in my backyard. Ha!

As for Heaven and Hell and afterlife, I believe we go straight to the place we are destined. Unless one has been really, REALLY bad here on earth, hurting others, I think most people will end up in heaven. The baddies will go the other way, if they don't say they are sorry before they kick off. Anyway, that's my opinion. We are assured there is something after this life because God said, "My kingdom is not of this world." Sincerely, Susan

I remember Cabbage Patch Mania but wasn't part of it. I can't think of anything for my sons that was hard to locate for Christmas giving. I did try to buy tickets for New Kids On The Block for them and their cousins, but I think they sold out before I was done dialing the number!

Schindler's List was one of the most powerful movies I've ever watched. I tend to watch lighthearted movies for entertainment value, but this is an important movie to watch.

I think we go straight to Heaven. I'll recognize you there, but let's not meet too soon, ok? :D

I remember waiting in long lines for gas years ago, remember those days?

I don't think we are in heaven before we are conceived

I used to think we went to heaven when we died (provided we know Jesus). But my pastor preached a sermon a few months ago that changed my thinking and I can back up scripture that says he probably had something there in his thinking. He thinks we don't go to heaven until after Jesus' second coming and he also thinks when we die, we wake up to that second coming (which is really strange to explain but its like time will be so different after we die, we are confined by time, but Jesus isn't except when he was here on earth). So now I'm not really too sure what happens when, but like Angela, I agree that as long as we get to heaven in the long one, no matter how it happens, that is good enough for me :)

But when my mom died, I took comfort knowing she was in heaven. So I'm still confused over the whole thing

thing is, Jesus loves us and I don't think wherever we go or whatever happens to us after we die is going to be awful or scary if we believe in him. I just don't know the order any more

I guess that's when trust comes into play

That video was so cute! :)
Animals can be so funny.

As for the question of going straight to Heaven or not, the Bible says the Christians will go straight to Heaven when they die. An example of this is found in Luke 23:43. As Jesus is hanging on the cross, He tells the thief next to Him "TODAY shalt thou be with me in paradise(Heaven)."
