Blessings . . .

I am joining Cindy at Count Your Blessings. Once a month she has a meme about Blessings and counting them. I'm always one for counting blessings - it makes me feel good.

Please visit her blog - she is a wonderful gal . . .

I have so many so here goes-

My friend came in from Virginia yesterday. We worked together for a few years at the same school. Then her husband got transferred to Virginia and it broke my heart when she left in 1994. That was 16 years ago.

As soon as she comes in and we start to talk - it's like we've never been a part. We have kept in touch with the help of another blessing - the computer - for 16 years. Plus every summer we get together. We have worked to stay friends. We first started meeting halfway in Gatlinburg, TN. We did that for years. She had a stroke in 2002 and that is another blessing because she recovered from a major stroke. But we had to change the way to get together

So she started a couple of years later to fly back here and she stays for a week or so. We have fun running around - shopping and doing things I haven't done in awhile -and that is another blessing.

So I am going to be having some more fun for the next few days

And my last blessing - I just found out that my son and DIL (due in November) are having a BOY

I am going to have two wonderful grandsons.

Now I could go on and on, but I gotta go.

Happy birthday and Montel Wlliams and thanks for serving your country - something I didn't know - wikipedia.

Williams enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1974 and completed his recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. While training at Twentynine Palms, California, he was selected for training at the Naval Academy Preparatory School. A year later, he was accepted into the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Upon acceptance to the Naval Academy, he was discharged as a Corporal in the Marines and entered the academy in 1976. In 1980, he graduated with a degree in General Engineering and a minor in International Affairs , Williams was commissioned as an ensign in the Navy. Williams was the first African–American enlistee to graduate from both the United States Navy's Academy Prep School and Annapolis.

Williams became a cryptology officer and served aboard USS Sampson during the U.S. invasion of Grenada. He also served as a Crypto Analyst at Ft. Meade, Md, for the NSA, and did three years on Nuclear Submarines. His awards include the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, two Navy Expeditionary Medals, two Humanitarian Service Medals, a Navy Achievement Medal, two Navy Commendation Medals and two Meritorious Service Medals. After 22 years of military service he departed as a Lieutenant Commander.[4]

DIL? Whoa, I just got the reason why relationships between mothers and daughter-in-laws are often so sour! (Oh yeah, I really crack myself up at times.)

Lucky duck :)
Your friendship sounds sooooo precious -- that kind you gals can pick up right where you left off ... even after months apart.

Montel Williams "snapshot" so interesting -- I didn't know any of that!

Have fun, and special Congrats on that happy grandbaby-to-be, Sandie!

Loved the blessing post. Please remind me the next time it's coming around, okay? Thanks. Susan

I think it is soooo cool when people work on keeping friendships alive.
Memorys live in the heart. So keep making more and you will always have a heart that sings.
Congrats on the news of the grandson
