Sunday's Gift to you . . .Happy Fourth of July

I don't know if you all like video's or things like this really, but I do and I love sharing. This is the cutest video about father's. Take a look.

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE
FLAG,
OF THE UNITED
STATES OF AMERICA ,

AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR
WHICH IT STANDS,

ONE
NATION UNDER GOD,
INDIVISIBLE,
WITH LIBERTY
AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

Now this is what America is all about:

Happy Birthday to Mitch Miller - 100 years old and still kicking - do you remember Sing Along With Mitch?

Mitch Miller (born Mitchell William Miller, July 4, 1911) is an American musician, singer, conductor, record producer, A&R man and record company executive.

He was one of the most influential figures in American popular music during the 1950s and early 1960s, both as the head of Artists & Repertoire at Columbia Records and as a best-selling recording artist. Some regard Miller as the creator of what would become karaoke with his NBC-TV series, Sing Along with Mitch.

A graduate of the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester in the early 1930s, Miller began his musical career as an accomplished player of the oboe and English horn, and has recorded several highly regarded classical albums featuring his instrumental work over the years. But he is best known as a conductor, choral director, television performer and recording executive.

He'd be having us sing along with some songs today if he was still on the air. . .

Wonderful videos and especially moved by the Rick Monday one. I loved watching Mitch Miller. Had a moment about fifteen years ago. Our office had parking in a garage in midtown Manhattan for official cars. One day I noticed a car with plates that said SMAGGU. I commented on it to the attendant and he told me it was Leslie Uggams' car. I felt honored that our little Taurus could be in the same garage.
Wishes to you for a wonderful weekend.

Very unique videos, Sandie. Very unique. As for Mitch Miller, my maternal Grandmother LOVED his show. She shushed us all when it was on. We couldn't say a word until that show was over. ha!

Happy Independence Day to you and yours, Sandie. Susan

Fr. Jason corrected us clearly in church today, with a chuckle kinda ... it is Independence Day, every month has a 4th!

Oy! I said to myself ... ouch! He got that right ... he is a kick, but always spot on.

Enjoy your celebration, my friend. I so enjoyed memories with you today.

I hadn't seen that Rick Monday video before or heard about it; awesome thing he did. I do remember sing along with Mitch but if he was born in 1911, wouldn't that just make him 99 years old today??

hope you guys are having a nice Fourth!
