The Secret . . .

The Secret

One day, one friend asked another,
' How is it that you are always so happy?
You have so much energy,
And you never seem to get down.. '

With her eyes smiling, she said,
' I know the Secret! '
' What secret is that? '
To which she replied,
I'll tell you all about it,
But you have to promise to
Share the Secret with others. '

' The Secret is this:
I have learned there is little I can do
In my life that will make me truly happy
I must depend on God to make
Me happy and to meet my needs.
When a need arises in my life,
I have to trust God to supply
According to HIS riches.
I have learned most of the time
I don ' t need half of what I think I do.
He has never let me down.
Since I learned that ' Secret ' , I am happy. '

The questioner's first thought was,
' That ' s too simple! '
But upon reflecting over her own life
She recalled how she thought a bigger house
Would make her happy, but it didn't!
She thought a better paying job
Would make her happy, but it hadn't.
When did she realize her greatest happiness?
Sitting on the floor with her grandchildren,
Playing games, eating pizza or reading a story,
A simple gift from God.

Now you know it too!
We can't depend on people to make us happy.
Only GOD in His infinite wisdom can do that.
Trust HIM!
And now I pass the Secret on to you!

LOVE, SANDIE

Very true that you can't depend on others for happiness. The first thing I taught my juveniles when I used to teach anger management classes is that you can't control other people. You can only control yourself, and how you react to others. Once they learned to let go of trying to control others' actions, you'd be surprised how much it helped their anger issues.
I hope that you are feeling well and are homeward bound, if not there already!

I totally believe in that philosophy because I have been living by that principle too, trusting that God will provide and he has also never let me down. Thanks for the affirmation, my friend. I miss you! Hope you're doing well...

Sandie, what a great surprise to see you on your blog!!! I am amazed that you are even going up the steps at all!! It is so soon after your surgery!! I have heard of an epidural, but never this leg anesthetic. I guess you are on the knee machine now. Is your daughter with you, are you getting help? I'm imagining that P.T. is coming to you, or you are going to them. My knee has gotten so much worse, I have to use tha handicapped scooter in large stores now. Lots of pain at night and at other times. So I truly empathize, and you now have a brand new knee for Christmas and should be pain free quickly.

First of all - dear friend!! I am so glad that you're back home. Can't tell you how often I've been thinking and praying for you. Oh, hope the pain abates some - and that you aren't too "loopy" on the pain medication!!

This was a great post - especially reading it after looking at the pictures of your precious family. There really isn't anything better than knowing God, and knowing how He loves us and takes care of us. And one of the wonderful gifts He gives us is our families.

Enjoy your Christmas - and we'll get chatty again when you're feeling better.

GOD BLESS...

xoxo to you...

Sandie, so glad to hear all went well and you are on the other side of the pain and etc. Healing is a very slow process so be good to yourself and follow orders:) Merry Christmas to you and yours.
