Saturday's Something to think about . . . .

I'm going to a 90th birthday party this morning and this came to me from Susan and thought it would go good for today:

Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world, real or imaginary. We know we take responsibility for all we have done and do not blame others.

HOWEVER, upon reflection, we would like to point out that it was NOT the senior citizens who took:

The melody out of music,
The pride out of appearance,
The courtesy out of driving,
The romance out of love,
The commitment out of marriage,
The responsibility out of parenthood,
The togetherness out of the family,
The learning out of education,
The service out of patriotism,
The Golden Rule from rulers,
The nativity scene out of cities,
The civility out of behavior,
The refinement out of language,
The dedication out of employment,
The prudence out of spending,
The ambition out of achievement or
God out of government and school.

"Our world is incomplete
until each of us discovers
what moves us--our passion.
No other person can hear our calling.
We must listen and act on it for ourselves.
To hear it, we need a positive environment
that supports deep listening and truth telling."
~ Richard J. Leider

Well, I hope you all have a great day and enjoy it - no matter what.

Love,
sandie

Sandie, hope you had a fun time at the party. No one thinks they will ever be a "senior" when they are young, but it happens to everyone eventually if they are lucky. I loved your list of what they didn't do... Ann

God bless you sweet friend !
This was a much needed post today.
I have been on over load with some of the younger generation and how to love them ,while not preaching at them . However maybe it would not hurt them to hear my two cents worth :)
Hope you have an awesome time at the 90th birthday party and a wonderful rest of the weekend too .
Happy Valentines

I hope you have a wonderful time today!
I love spending time with Seniors. I lost both of my parents in 2010, but every time I went to the nursing home to see them, I always made a point of talking to some of the people roaming the halls...When I shared a smile or reached out and touched their hand or shoulder, you could see a light enter their eye's...it makes me tear up just thinking of those times.
A long time ago my big sister told me that we should never "save love", always give it away, it costs us nothing...love can be shared with a complete stranger by just giving that person a smile~ you never know what that simple gesture might do for someone who needs it.
Our youth sure could use an education on that list you provided!
Take Care~

Were you listening in on the chat our Bible study group was having this afternoon? Hope the party was great. We started talking about planning our friend Vivian's 89th party this spring.

It's disturbing how we baby boomers get blamed for everything that's wrong with the world these days. I enjoyed your points in our defence and will try to remember them.

Oh this was just great, Sandie!

I would also like to say that my prayer is that the older generation (in which I would like to include myself) has a tremendous responsibility to pass on our faith and our values to the younger generation.

I'm asking God to give me a boldness in my life - and to stand tall for what I believe in.

Young people are searching - we need to point them in the right direction - to the foot of the cross!

OK, jumping off my soapbox.

Hope you had a great time at the party!!

xoxo
