Monday and the Chattanooga Dukws pronounced ducks.

Chatty's Neck Today - Ouch!

We went to Chattanooga and had a ball this past week - the grandson, daughter, and myself went (hubby decided to stay home and watch the Masters). Daughter had a free night at the Sheraton so we stayed there - we ordered room service (yep) - swam at the pool hotel - had a cupcake at the Chattanooga Cupcake Store - had an extremely interesting history lesson about the city of Chattanooga which was quite interesting and rode the Chattanooga Dukw - pronounced duck. A man who has served in the armed forces probably knows what one of these are. It is a truck and a boat!

The truck/boat drives on the land at about 60 mph and in the water at 3 knots. Slow! Men in the service hated it because as they were coming to another country to fight - they came in so slow the enemies could shoot them easily - they called themselves - "Sitting Ducks" - and this is where the name came from. We loved our guide and he let anyone who wanted drive the boats - and of course my gs raised his hand right away and drove first!

This was NOT our trip but an example of our trip - I will post our pictures tomorrow on Show and Tail.

Okay - did you know that RC Cola - Moon Pies - Krystal - and Little Debbie were all founded in Chattanooga?

Very interesting, Chatty

Well, you might remember my thoughts on moon pies.

You always have such fun adventures!

Sounds like a perfect weekend for the three of you! Every time I've been where those tours are available, I haven't been able to go on one either because of time or weather conditions. The driver/guide in that second clip sounds like a fun guy.

Loved the quotation at the end there, Chatty! Wow, sounds like you had a great time at the Sheraton on your visit to Chattanooga. The duck trip sounds really interesting! Have a good week.

Nice videos! I've never been to Chattanooga, but I have had a moon pie. Does that count?

Well, I knew about Moon Pies and RC, but not the other.

Glad you survived this little jaunt, Sandie. It really does look like a blast.

XO,

Sheila :-)

Oh yes. They have those same ducks at Wisconsin Dells. They are a popular attraction. Sounds like it was great weekend. Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself.

Ahhhh...yes...love it. Blogging without obligation. Easy for you to say! LOL I'm teasing of course. I feel obligated ...about everything there is to feel obligated about!

Ducks..I wanted a duck so badly once that I finally bought a baby one...BAD decisions..but to go look at them like this is so neat.

Isn't it nice to get away?? We have to wait until August..but it will pass fast. I'm glad you had such a great pie...and...thanks for the tidbit of info.
To be honest, I have never eaten a "moon pie" in my life! Yes on all the other goodies.

Thanks so much for stopping by. It's always a pleasure to see you!
Sorry you've got an owie! :(
Have a wonderful week!

Sandie, once again you made an interesting weekend happen. The excitement at the Masters wasn't too shabby either. I'm sure your hubby enjoyed it.

I've seen those Dukws. They look like an adventure to me! You have the most fun with that grandson of yours.

And no, I didn't know any of those things orginated in Chattanooga.
I have been there in years. Hmm. Maybe we need a little trip.

With that kind of creativity coming from Chattanoogans it must be a great place to visit. Little Debbie AND Moon Pies... WOW!

What a fun weekend you had. Someday that is a State I would like to visit. Tour guides are the best. They all seem to love their jobs and they have so much information to share.

Sounds like a wonderful time had by all, Sandie. Love Krystals and had no idea they were founded in Chattanooga. There are no Krystals... anywhere... in North Carolina; another good reason to move back to Georgia!

I read your post about your trip first, so I know you had a good time. My kids would have loved to ride in one of those and to get to drive it too, would have been over the top for them. I know your GS was beside himself! :) That in itself made it a memorable trip!
