Tuesdays Show and Tail . . .

I am joining Angela at West Virginia Treasures for her Show and Tail -
please join us and share a story about your pet, a visit to the zoo, an interesting fact about animals, or ever a picture. Enjoy!

Have you ever seen a porcupine? Here's a cute little fable.

Fable of the porcupine -

It was the coldest winter ever - many animals died because of the cold.

The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together.

This way they covered and protected themselves; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions even though they gave off heat to each other.

After awhile they decided to distance themselves one from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen.

So they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their companions or disappear from the Earth.

Wisely, they decided to go back to being together.

This way they learned to live with the little wounds that were caused by the close relationship with their companion, but the most important part of it, was the heat that came from the others.

This way they were able to survive.

Moral of the story:

The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people,
but the best is when each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others and can admire the other person's good qualities.

Wasn't that a great story?

If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape a hundred days of sorrow. -Chinese Epigram

Hi Sandie, What a fabulous story and life lesson... I LOVE it --and had never heard it before. The 'preacher' in me (ha) thinks that would make a great sermon....

Hope you and your family have had a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy

I love the porcupine story and have printed it out! But I think that is a hedgehog....they are so adorable, much cuter than porcupines!

Tweedles -- that's me said...

I love this story too.
One dark nite when I was in the woods a porkypine came out of the brush and sniffed my foot. Then he turned and walked away

Hey Chatty, great illustration for us to learn by. You know in this world so many people want there way or look at people different because this or that. They would probably freeze before they would let someone help them that did not meet up to there standards. I've been around people like that and all we can do is pray for them and show God's love. Thinks again for the thoughts.
Pat vinson, have a blessed day.
