Get Your Flag Ready for 9-11-11

Subject: 9/11

"On Sunday, September 11th, 2011, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States. Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this tenth anniversary of one of our country's worst tragedies. We do this to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds."

So, here's what we need you to do.
(1) Tell everyone you know to fly their flag tomorrow!
(2) Fly your flag tomorrow!
(3) Would love to see a picture of yours!

“We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.”

—Marian Wright Edelman (b. 1939); activist, president and founder Children's Defense Fund

It's hard to believe that 10 years has gone by. The memories are still fresh.

Great post, Sandie!
I was a little surprised -- and a LOT "gladdened" to spot a truck with a miniature flag mounted on it's side mirror last evening.

We've had a flag on a pole most of our married life. When the old one rusted and broke near the base, we replaced it and added a light on a sensor that shines up on our beautiful flag. It flies 24/7 now.

My flags are still out from the 4th of July! We were going to take them down but left them for Labor Day and then I remembered I should leave them up for tomorrow.

Hugs,
Angela

I don't have an American flag anymore. (Too much wind where I live beat it to death). So, I'm flying what I've been flying since Memorial Day. It's one of those decorative flags...has an American flag on it, with the words "For the land of the free, we give thanks." (This flag, too, is on its last legs, a result of all the wind where I live, but it will probably make it through Veteran's Day in November, after which time, it'll need to be replaced.)

Blessings,
Patti

It was so horrible, I really don't know if I will do a post on it or not, I think everyone else has said so much...and I don't mean that in a bad way, but in a good way.

My flags will be flying! I loved the sight of all those flags right after 9/11. I'm even guilty of putting them out and bring them in. I need to leave them out.

I don't have an American flag. That's because I'm a Canadian.
Just dropping by to say lots of Canadians are standing with our American friends and neighbours on 9/11.
Blessings and Bear hugs.
