Show and Tail Day

Squirrel-Dog!

The moral of this story is the best part!!!
Debby Cantlon, who plans to release Finnegan, the young squirrel, back into the wild, bottle-fed the infant squirrel after it was brought to her house.

When Cantlon took in the tiny creature and began caring for him, she found herself with an unlikely nurse's aide: her pregnant
Papillion, Mademoiselle Giselle.

Finnegan was resting in a nest in a cage just days before Giselle was due to deliver her puppies.
Cantlon and her husband watched as the dog dragged the squirrel's cage twice to her
own bedside before she gave birth.

Cantlon was concerned, yet ultimately decided to allow the squirrel out and the inter-species bonding began.
Finnegan rides a puppy mosh pit of sorts, burrowing in for warmth after feeding,
eventually working his way beneath his new litter mates.

Two days after giving birth, mama dog Giselle allowed Finnegan to nurse; family photos and a videotape show her encouraging him to suckle alongside her litter of five pups.
Now, Finnegan mostly uses a bottle, but still snuggles with his 'siblings' in a mosh pit of puppies,
Rolling atop their bodies, and sinking in deeply for a nap.

Finnegan and his new litter mates, five Papillion puppies, get along together as if they were meant to.
Finnegan naps after feeding.
Finnegan makes himself at home with his new litter mates, nuzzling nose-to-nose for a nap after feeding.

Send this along to brighten someone's day!
Wouldn't it be nice if we could all get along

Like Finnegan and the gang?

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Keep loving everyone, even the squirrelly ones.

(I love this one personally.) I think this shows a good example about loving others that are different then you - it's a hard thing to do - I try - not always successful - what about you?

I'm kind of surprised. My neighbor brought a slightly injured squirrel inside. Everything was fine while she nursed him back to health, but one day he felt fine and bit her finger and held on. She was shaking her hand trying to get it to let go, but he held on for a while. After that she somehow caught him and released him. No more squirrels in the house.

My son and I were talking about the Holocaust last week and how an entire country went along with it. Today we're visiting the Houston Holocaust Museum. Sunday the minister spoke about loving our neighbors...all of them even if we don't agree with their lifestyle or beliefs. Sadly, there's too much hate in the world and not enough love.

Those are the cutest photos. What a great story of maternal love. SOme have it, some don't. With all the sad news on TV, it's nice to see that love at work.

Sandie, You know I LOVE puppy dogs and squirrels!!! This is absolutely one of the most adorable things I've ever seen. I love the moral of the story, so true. What a lucky little squirrel! Love, Marie

I have a huge heart for puppies and squirrels, too :) The problem rests with some of the humans we get to share our space with...those selfish, inconsiderate types that make a point of always being in someone else's face! they're the hard ones to get to grips with ;)

This is so sweet!!!! Some of the worst things in the world have happened because of the dislike or fear of people who are different!! Like the Holocaust!

I need to pay more attention to that story's moral -- currently struggling with that sort of thing in the workplace.

Guurl, how cute is that?
I never think of squirrels as being "snugglers".
Gonna have to re-adjust my thinking.

Oh My Goodness! This is such a sweet post! Everyone everywhere needs to see this! Different is good and I know sometimes it is hard to accept all different people. When my kids were small I use to tell them that looks can be deceiving. Someone can look raggedy and poor and be the nicest person in the world. Sometime slick looking characters like Ted Bundy, serial killer, can look polished and confident and are sociopaths! It is very easy to judge a book by its cover, it is often difficult to get to know the good in others, I think we just need to keep trying! Anne
