wednesday- Hump Day

Photobucket

I have seen so many beautiful trees up this year on your posts so I thought I'd show you mine. My little elf (grandson) is going to add all his ornaments tonight.

The first step for me is adding the bows and flowers - I don't know if this is something done in just in the south or in other areas too.

Some some people just have all red trees and some have white. Even gold. But mine is going to be mixed.

I have been honest - I really do not have any artistic talent. However, my mother did. She made this angel by hand that we put on top of the tree.

Magnolias and birds go on.

Next I put my Santa collection on.

I have a lot of Santa's - someday I want to do a Santa only tree - all red with red flowers.

I love pugs - I even have a pug Santa!

HO HO HO!

Merry Christmas

My mother hand made the 'his and her' mouse.

These were made by her - when my kids were in sports.

Here is Raggedy Ann and Andy - again hand made by my mother.

And here is Goldilocks and her two bears - I can't find the third bear! :(

Okay if you live in Atlanta - you have to know about Macy's Pink Pig ride - It has been going since I was a little girl.

When my elf is done I will take a picture of the whole tree. Now besides this, cookie exchanges, visiting friends, shopping, wrapping gifts - I am room grandma for my grandson - I was the only one who volunteered - we are having a party next week - so I organized last weekend and I am all ready to go except for the food. I've ordered the pizza. Lined up volunteers. Got some arts and crafts to do. Just have to get some food the day before. Whew.

Chatty has been busy with you and I do not want to forget the real reason for the season - isn't all the above - yet it is a part of it. Still have the manger scene to put up too.

Thought for the day:

We must not give only what we have; we must give what we are.

Sandie, the ornaments your Mother made are beautiful! Looking forward to the 'finished' pictures of your tree! I have three creches that I display, only one is not for the children to play with.

Sandy, your tree is beautiful and I love the treasures that are your mom's handmade ornaments.

Your grandson and his class are lucky to have you as room-grandma. I was always my kids' room-mom and while it was hectic, sometimes frustrating, I am so glad I did that - it's a wonderful way to get to know the teacher, classmates and the school in general. Not to mention the excitement your GS feels knowing HIS grandma is doing this.

I love that you still have and use the ornaments your mom made. Some of my favorite ornaments are ones that came from the trees of my childhood.

You were the "only" grandmother who volunteered!?! Red Flag, Red Flag. May I suggest that you wear padding and tred lightly. Kids with sugar plums dancing in the head can bring down the strongest amoungst us.

Have a merry!

I love when people use memories on their trees instead of decorations that mean nothing to them.

Your trees looks so pretty and I love all the hand made ornaments, each with their own special significance or nostalgia attached. Otherwise, my gosh, but you have been and are, busy!!! You do sound as though you're enjoying it all though and that's what matters most :)

Your Mom's hand made ornaments are beautiful. They are such special keepsakes. I'm sure each time you place one it brings back a memory. Gorgeous!

Don't you feel great every year when you see those lovely ornaments your mom made?

I wonder if "room grandmas" will be around when Colton starts school in a few years. I enjoyed being a room mom most years but the nature of parties has changed so much with so many restrictions, they don't seem the same to me.

Marti said...

Your mom sure was talented, and how nice to have so many handmade decorations. It is good to be involved in your grandson's activities. Those are the things they remember.

Cheri said...

Your momma does have some serious talent and how nice that you have these ornaments she made. So what is the craft you are doing? I remember those days of being room mother, fun times. You will need to take pics of the room party and post it for us.

I love those ornaments made by your mom! I'm like you in that I didn't inherit the crafty gene. I do my best, but I have to depend on my mom too.

Godspeed with the room mommying, or room grandmommying as the case may be.

That elf-decorated tree is great! Now if I could just get it together with my tree...which has the bottom section cleared repeatedly by the hound's wagging tail...I'd have a good looking tree. ;)

All of your memories on your tree reminded me I need to share with my daughters. They are adults. I think it's time to pass on their memories to them to enjoy. We don't have room for a tree in our condo, so they are just stuck in boxes in storage. Thanks for the idea....

I love your tree and your mom...wow...she had amazing talent. I'm like you....little artistic abilities...I definitely couldn't make what she did. Love the the dolls and the mice. It sounds like you're having a ton of fun.

Your mom's angel, Raggedy Ann set, and especially mice, are ADORABLE, she was so talented. I have absolutely NO talent or vision for this sort of thing! I have never heard of the Pink Pig ride, but it is cute! And I love your unusual Santas, especially the Santa Star, that is too cool! Your tree is beautiful!!

Love your decorations!! Had to laugh at the Santa and elves decorating...after my GD left.. I looked at my tree and the bottom was just COVERED with decorations... I left most of them as when I see it...I can see her putting them on!

Love all your ornaments. Your moms ornaments are awesome.
You sure are the busy one too. Hope you get some time for yourself in there somewhere.
Looking forward to seeing your nativity. I've always wanted one. I had a really small, cheap on years ago that didn't survive the years of storage. I always loved the set that my dad had when I was growing up. It was my favorite thing to put out at Christmas.

Our little tree is a little sad. We have a live tree each year and last year it was small but shaped nicely.
We kept it in a pot with plans to use it again this year.
But this year, it took a growth spurt and after we decorated it, it seems to be leaning to starboard.
We'll plant it after Christmas and let it grow as it wants.
I like it anyhow :)

I love all the hustle and bustle and decorating of Christmas ... but you're right, it is not the real reason for the season.

Loved seeing the ornaments made by hand by your mother.

Your tree is so pretty. You have some awesome ornaments and the angel is precious. Hope your week is going well.

I lucky you are to have an elf to help you decorate the tree. How wonderful you have so many memories to hang on your tree as well. What a lucky grandson to have a grandma room mother. Bless you!

Sharon said...

Ah, your mother made the sweetest little ornaments! I love your tree - isn't it fun how we each have our own *style* and traditions? You're right, all the "trappings" of Christmas aren't the REAL reason for the season - but because of that baby in the manger, we are able to enter this season with tremendous JOY - and the ability to enjoy all the fun stuff...

GOD BLESS!

I love all of your homemade ornaments that your mother made! Those are all so sweet. You could do a Santa tree and another tree that just has the ornaments she made. I can't believe you didn't inherit the crafting gene! lol The last picture I almost thought you came to my house and was sneaky and took a picture of all the bags and things I have piled up in my kitchen! lol I'm the homeroom mom in my sons class. It's hard to believe but it is hard to get the parents to help with the party. I've got juice and one snack lined up so I'll be doing the rest. I also have to come up with all the crafts and or games for the party. I've got 2 crafts to do but need another 1 or a game. I even requested a parent to possibly read a book. No response for any of it...

Merry Christmas!
Angela
