Mondays recipe and positive start to the week . . .

I don't know why this came to me today - but here are two recipes that go together and are GREAT for parties!!!!

I have made both and they are delish - great recipes!

RED WINE SANGRIA from (Jenn via Food Network Bobby Flay)

Ingredients:

2 bottles red Spanish table wine
1 cup brandy
1/2 cup triple sec
1 cup orange juice
1 cup pomegranate juice
1/2 cup simple syrup, or more to taste (equal parts sugar and water, heated until sugar dissolves, cooled)
Orange slices
Apple slices
Blackberries
Pomegranate seeds

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together and let stand in a tightly sealed container or pitcher for at least 24 hours in the refrigerator before serving.

AND

Cheese Ball (from Renae)
Ingredients:

2 8oz cream cheese

1 small can of crushed pineapple (drained)

2 Tablespoon chopped green onions

3/4 cup Chopped green-bell pepper

1 Tablespoon All seasoning salt

2 cups chopped pecan nuts

Directions:

Set aside 1 cup of chopped nuts. Mix all together the cream cheese, pineapple, green onion, green-bell pepper, all seasoning salt, and 1 cup of chopped pecan nuts. Roll into a ball shape and then take the other cup of nuts and roll the cheese ball in them until covered.

Oh yeah don't forget the crackers!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

This weekend my grandson tested for his orange stripe for his second degree black-belt.
Then he had a sleep over! Grandma is tired this morning!
Plus every tree in Georgia is in bloom and the allergies are rampant - that adds to the tireness for me. I can't believe some people have snow.
We also had grandson fitted for a tux for an upcoming wedding - was he surprised he had to wear what they told him to wear.

Now tell me what you did over the weekend.

Don't forget to stretch your wings today. I'm going to stretch mine - right after a nap! lol

OK your turn to have a party with this Sangria and cheese ball...yum! GS looks so cute! I did a little bit around the house this weekend but stayed in as much as possible. My allergies are blooming also! Hugs, Linda

I was a lazy bum and didn't do much, but I did make it to church!

I've got the allergy thing, too. I will save that sangria recipe for parties - sounds good!

How handsome your grandson is in that picture!

I'm not a sangria fan but I will pass the recipe on to my sis-in-law and offer to make the cheese ball when we get together.

I wrote a long rant today. I should probably go edit it but will move on to something else instead. Warm temps have caused everything in MI to start budding early. The trees are doing a number on my eyes, making them itch. It won't last long for me though, I do welcome the warm weather. :)

I do wish I could see the Georgia trees in bloom.

sounds like you had a FULL weekend..
Have a good day.

Does he get nervous before a belt test? The girly gets so nervous she has made herself sick before.

Hope the allergies are better today.

Your grandson is looking quite the young man about town!! I loved the quote about spreading your wings = this is so true. We had a glorious weekend weatherwise, so I spent quite a bit of time gardening and tidying up after the winter.

I love the cheese ball recipe. Sounds really good! Congratulations to your grandson for his black belt testing. Our son should be testing in a few weeks for his black belt. It's a great sport. Went to my nephew's birthday party on Saturday and then yesterday did a lot of cooking and baking and then took Olivia to the airport for her flight back to Florida. Very nice weekend up here! Enjoy your Monday!

Very busy this weekend, Sandie -- lots of work outside on Saturday and taxes on Sunday. The weather is supposed to be in the 70s this week, so I'll be outdoors getting some yardwork done.

Have a great week and enjoy your naps. :)

I have made the cheese ball before but without the onions. I might add the onions the next time because I think it would be good that way.

Andy looks so cute in that tux! Whose getting married?

Angela

Hi Sandie,
I need to email you. Can you contact me please?

Betty said...

You mean Andy is in the wedding party? You'll have to get lots of pictures.

Everything has been bloomning here too. Earlier than usual. We have that green dust all over the cars. Actually, I haven't looked today, but the rain might have washed it away.

I do like Sangria in the summer, but we usually buy a already made bottle of this fine drink. We do doctor it up with tasty fruit but it really is not as good as the homemade kind. However, it is faster!

Congrats to your GS....the cheese ball sounds delish...Have a blessed day my friend....from Georgia ....Happy Tuesday

OK, I scrinched my shoulders when I got to the tux picture. That was too cute!

I think that's the first time I've ever seen GS not smiling!! Shows what happens when you put a boy into a *penguin suit*!!

Did he achieve the orange stripe?

And, the recipes sound delicious! My thought on the crackers?? After a few glasses of Sangria, who cares???
