Wednessday is Hump day.

When I'm a Little Old Lady

Then I'll live with my children and bring them great joy
To repay all I've had from each girl and boy.
I shall draw on the walls and scuff up the floor
Run in and out without closing the door.

I'll hide frogs in the pantry, Socks under my bed.
Whenever they scold me, I'll just hang my head.
I'll run and I'll romp, always fritter away
The time to be spent doing chores every day.

I'll pester my children when they're on the phone.
As long as they're busy, I won't leave them alone.
Hide candy in closets, rocks in a drawer
And never pick up my clothes from the floor.

Dash off to the movies and not wash a dish.
I'll plead for allowance whenever I wish.
I'll stuff up the plumbing and deluge the floor
As soon as they've mopped it, I'll flood it some more.

When they correct me, I'll lie down and cry
Kicking and screaming, not a tear in my eye.
I'll take all their pencils and flashlights, and then
When they buy new ones--I'll take them again.

I'll spill glasses of milk to complete every meal
Eat my banana and just drop the peel.
Put toys on the table, spill jam on the floor
I'll break lots of dishes as though I was four.

What fun I shall have.
What joy it will be
To live with my children like--
THEY LIVED WITH ME!!!!

Okay - gotta say I loved that - thanks Jeannie (my cousin).

You know if you're any like me - I love to think about doing things like that - while I never really would - I love dreaming about it!!! Makes me happy. Do you ever do things like that?

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

Okay this helps me get through hump day today. I' really tired. I've been burning the candles at both ends - getting up at 6 and staying up to midnight! lol I'm going to go to bed early tonight.

I'm also meeting Linda a fellow blogger for lunch today and that always helps things too!

Know what I mean?

Love, Chatty

Have a nice lunch and try to stay cool! I love the poem. Had to laugh about the banana peel....my neighbor's great grandson "squished" a banana in her mini blinds last week!

Love the poem! Yes, I have to admit that even during these times I thought about my kids having kids and how much work it would be for them. My oldest son (married with a son of his own) told me in last year's Mother's Day card that he doesn't just think of me on Mother's Day, he thinks of me every day. Having a child of his own opened his eyes to how much a mom really does. For the record, he was always a good kid. :) But it sure was nice to hear!

Ewwwww, only 6 hours sleep? Well, enjoy your lunch, but get some much needed rest. The candle, you can snuff it out, forget about it all...and rekindle the flame another day.

All of us mothers would love that poem. What goes around, comes around and eventually the children you put the diapers on, will be putting them on you.

You must be psychic!! My good friend called me this morning frazzled beyond repair with her son. He has SPD, and was being a handfull. She couldn't even say a word to me without him interjecting and correcting. Very belligerent and negative. He wouldn't cooperate for schooling and wouldn't clean up after himself. I told her there was a poem about this, and couldn't remember the name of it...I am sending her the link to your blog right now! lol THANK YOU!

We call it "Pay Back" time when our kids' kids give them a hard time --like the kids gave us!!!!!! ha

Sounds like you need to slow down a little and get some REST.... We try to get 8 hours of sleep a night (11-7 usually). But--we have to put that as a priority since we never get finished doing the things we love to do... Oh Well.

Hugs,
Betsy

I love that poem. Reminds me of the tale: "Mama why did you give water pistols to the kids, you hate it when we had water pistols!"
mama, "I know!"
Slow down, the candle burns fast enough on its own!

I think I should frame that and give it to the Duchess for MD.
Except, her children are still doing some of those things. We never really grow up around our place. We just get bigger.

Rose said...

Oh, I always laugh at this...but then I remember "Be good to your children cause they will pick your nursing home!"

That being said, now with our daughter and Lorelei our grandbaby...we tell her paybacks are #@44. She just laughs...

When she was about 3 she took a crayon down every wall in the house at one time or another--just as high as she could reach.
