Monday a recipe and a barn

Ah - Monday morning - GOOD MORNING FRIENDS!  Three more weeks of summer vacation.  Will you be glad or sad it's over?

You saw the wedding pictures yesterday - well this was a drive by barn in Cartersville, GA on the way to the wedding.  I can't get my family to slow down and let me take a picture.  We're always in a hurry and I don't know why.... we rush and rush but who knows why . . . I sure don't.

"A farmer was milking his cow. He was just starting to get a good rhythm going when a bug flew into the barn and started circling his head. Suddenly, the bug flew into the cow's ear. The farmer didn't think much about it, until the bug squirted out into his bucket. It went in one ear and out the udder."

 (Thank you Knitty)

Not too bad of a drive by photo....

Now last week I mentioned I went to a luncheon with some blog gals.  Here's a picture of us!

(This is Suzan's picture - Tree Hugger is her blog name - the pretty blonde on the left - in the back.)

Denise is a friend of us bloggers - she's on the left.
Then Suzan of The Tree Hugger
Sitting down is Cheri of Chez Cheri
Chatty Crone in the back right - Sandie
Joyce of Flour Power sitting down and
Behind Joyce is Linda of A La Carte

Check out their blogs they are great gals!

Now for the fabulous recipe of the week -

How about something for the heat and for our pups?

Cool Peanut Butter Cubes

3 cups plain Non-Fat Yogurt
1 cup Unsalted Peanut Butter
1 Tbsp. honey

Combine all ingredients and whisk thoroughly.  Pour mixture into ice cube trays and freeze solid (at least two hours).  Serve to your pup one cube at a time for some seriously enjoyable icy cool treats!

I am groaning about the other but fortunately, I enjoy a good groaner.
Think I will try those cubes for Mighty.

Well - two weeks of summer left! Rewrote my "list" and sticking to it- maybe! So sad- but excited that this means the heat will go away! LOVE the pooch on ice cubes.
Neat idea with the happy faces for class.

I like your barn find, Sandie. Got to snap fast and you did. I liked Knitty's cow joke. Funny I hadn't heard it growing up on the farm with the milk cows there.

Nice too that you and the 'girls' could go out. Looks like a fun group. Thanks too for the doggie recipe. Ours love peanut butter, I coat Adi's pills with it and give Katrin a look alike placebo.

You do so well at taking those drive by shots! I really love that weathered look.

What a fun recipe for the puppies! And they would get exercise pushing it around the floor, trying to get a grip on it! Great idea. Nice photo of you and your blogging buddies.

I love that style of barn, btw. :-)

I think I'd like one of those dog treats!

Is your camera capable of shooting video? If so, take a video of barns as you are passing them. In Picasa (and likely, similar programs as well), you can view the video and capture individual frames as snapshots. I have a great shot of Colton laughing in the pool that was taken from a video.

What an interesting recipe for a dog snack ... I'll have to share that with my daughter - for my new grandpuppy. ;-)

Great pics! Those sound yummy! Just what I need! Thanks!

I'll have to try that treat for the pup! I think Koda would like this!

You did great with the barn picture Sandie! It looks good for not stopping and being in a car moving along! WTG with it!

The kids here start school on Wednesday so their vacation is almost over. They are on what is called a modified year round schedule, they get three week breaks at Christmas, spring break, couple weeks in the fall, but only 7 weeks off for summer. Parent seem to like that schedule.

I hope Monday is a good one!

It is unbelievable how fast the summer is going. Many are getting ready for back to school. Here at my house I have plenty of family that are teachers and grandkids that are looking forward to the new school year. There are still plenty of summer days to be enjoyed though, hopefully they won't be so hot we cannot get outside to enjoy them. Hope your Monday is a wonderful one!

I stole you cow joke for my FB page.

That "take a smile" idea is so great. I'm going to make one to hang on the bulletin board of our local bank and our one restaurant.

"in one ear and out the udder"...LOL!! Not a bad barn indeed. Being retired, I don't really care about the summer vacation, being on "vacation" all the time more or less. But I will be glad when the hot weather is gone.

Well I guess since I don't work and live in California I think I could say that Summer is kinda like the rest of the year for me.
Love you drive by barn! Okay I think those pops sound good for myself! Hugs, Debby

I ride with my camera in my lap too but it is almost impossible to catch the scenery as it flies past. You did a good job capturing that barn. It looks like it has a good story to tell.

Now that is BAD, "In one ear and out the Udder!". LOL

yeah, it is amazing that we are always in a hurry. NO Matter where. Even today on a nice day out in the county. It is Monday and laundry day for the Amish'Mennonites. I am always amazed at the clothes lines. they are sometimes 20-25 ft off the ground.
They use a pulley system to the porch and hand the clothes in the comfort of the shade and pull them out in the sun. SOOO you think I would slow down to get a picture, I tried, but the 'girls/women' drivers here do not appreciate a car with a Florida tag slowing them down when they have places to go. LOL

Love from Pennsylvania!!!!

Here in the UK my 17 year old daughter only broke up from school on Friday. Both my daughter's won't return back to school until almost the middle of September so really the summer holiday is just starting for us and at least we are having some sunny weather for a change too!

ok, I'm embarrassed. I didn't notice the part about pups right away and was thinking that it sounded good.

That'a pathetic.
It's for a dog, Debbie.

Love your blogger party picture and the barn too.

Drive by photos are always the hardest to get, but I sort of view it as a challenge and a successful one when I can actually get a good one. Grenville would slow down if possible, but I always tell him to ignore what I'm doing. The wedding photos were very nice - good luck to the newlyweds.

If it wasn't for all the heat waves we have had, I could live in a forever summer. I always hate to see it go by so quickly.

Poor dogs, they can't have chocolate to go with the peanut butter.

I am always sad when summer ends, I love it. Thankfully we have 6 more weeks of break up here. :)

Hey, I think that pup stole my ice pile! He's gonna melt it all :( LOL

Been kinda scarce lately but climbing out and getting back in the swing of things. Just wish it wasn't so hot.

Made a couple or four pitchers of Margaritas the other day....I was still hot, but I didn't care!!
