Saturday Services

I read this on a couple peoples blog and thought I would put this out for you to look at.

First annual southern bloggers conference Raleigh, NC

http://housepitalitydesigns.com/2012/07/27/raleigh-and-the-first-annual-southern-bloggers-conference/

The corn in last weeks blog - microwave 8 minutes - cut the bottom off - let it fall off and it is all clean and cooked - it does work!  I tried it this week and I have friends who wrote back and said that it worked for them too.It was delicious.

SENIOR DISCOUNTS

Keep this list - - - and Send a copy to your senior friends and relatives.
As I was waiting in line behind an older gentleman at Wendy's recently, I heard him ask for his senior discount. The girl at the register apologized and charged him less. When I asked the man what the discount was, he told me that seniors over age 55 gets 10% off everything on the menu, every day.
Being of 'that' age myself, I figured I might as well ask for the discount too. This incident prompted me to do some research, and I came across a list of restaurants, supermarkets, department stores, travel deals and other types of offers giving various discounts with different age requirements. I was actually surprised to see how many there are and how some of them start at the young age of 50.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

I love this quote.  I really do.  I admit I have to work hard on it though.  When someone hurts me - it's hard to let go of it for me - sometimes.  I kind of wonder why it happened or if I did something to cause it to happen.  And I have to learn to let it go - and then and only then can I move on and live in the day.
It isn't easy, but it can be done.  I think it is just a matter of really forgiving yourself and others - and realizing no one is perfect and that is okay!
  Move on.

I love that list of discounts! Since I'm "of that age", I'll take whatever discounts I can get. Some I knew about, but many of those I did not. Again, thanks!!

So happy I am "of age" lol

What a great list of discounts. Thank you!

I love the quote too and can relate to you 100%. I'm getting a "little" better at letting go but it's tough.

WOW...great list! And you are right, it isn't always easy, as a matter of fact, it rarely is, but the answer is to forgive and move on. The alternative only hurts you! Have a great weekend!

That is a very good quote. I have to make a conscious effort to let go of 'yesterday' all the time too. It's a good reminder ~ thanks!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend friend!

I loved your list! Only a few of them apply to me right now as I am 50, but I will save it for future reference~

Senior Discounts are wonderful. I didn't know about a lot of those on your list. But I'm going to try and make a practice of asking from now on when I go someplace. You really do have to ask most of the time. They don't volunteer the info very often. Starting each new fresh and letting go of yesterday is good advice for sure. Hope your Saturday is a super one!

It's weird to me that someone of 55 would be considered a senior. A bit depressing really.

Have a wonderful Saturday!

This is great information. I didn't know about the 50+. I'm grabbing a pen and paper and writing them down for our next out of town trip. YAY! Score one for getting older!!!!

I'll have to look around and see if I can find a list of Ontario service providers who offer a seniors discount. Not that I'm a senior yet you understand..ahem..

Hi sandie, there are SOME advantages to getting old, senior discounts :)

MadSnapper said...

the state of Florida almost every store/restaurant has senior discounts, most of them 55 plus. but i did not know about Wendy's, no one has ever offered it and we eat there about once a month.

In Illinois most of the senior discounts apply to a small drink or a small cup of coffee. I always ask for the senior discount and this is what they tell me.

Love the quote and I need to pay attention to it.

Speaking of blogging conferences, Type A Con, which I've been to the past 2 years, will be in Atlanta next summer. You should go - it's a lot of fun.

Well there is something good in being over 55 after all.
But most of those places I do not frequent.

Hope your day is good.

I always forget to ask for my Sr Discount. Not my Mom, LOL, she always asks and it really helps with a free drink or something. I need to ask more often since I'm on a fixed income. Love the quote my friend. Hugs, Linda

The quote should be needlepointed on a pillow where I can see it every day!

That is an impressive list! I am printing it and checking a few places to see if they participate. I can't imagine the Kroger stores near here giving me anything but a headache, but I'm going to find out!

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try to remember I'm a senior from now on!

Dang I knew there had to be some advantage of being old. I guess they can't offer these to you for fear of offending someone not of "the age". Thanks,I will now ask.

jack69 said...

Shucks, I think I will use all the discounts and get money back. hahahaha!

Yes, about the quote. It can be done, but it is tough.

I forget sometimes and get frustrated until I realize, I am hurting me, and I hate to hurt me. hahahaha

That last line of yours is so true, no one is perfect.(as much as I like to think I AM!I know better.) LOL

The blogging conference sounds like fun, too bad it's on the other coast from me.

That is quite a list of discounts. Most of these businesses keep them well hidden. Thanks for the info.

Debbie said...

I don't think my mom's printer is working right now so I need to print this for her! I've never heard her ask for a senior citizen discount a single time. She needs to!!

Thanks, Sandie.

And I'm so glad you liked the corn.
