Tuesday Tails and Tale

HERE IS MY SCARY LITTLE DISCO - not too bad for my first try to scare you - right?

It has been a couple days since my last post.  I was getting so behind I would not let myself do another post until I had checked and commented on your blogs and answered my emails.  I'm bad - it's easy to write blogs for me - it's harder to read and comment.   I think I have to think harder on the last.  Does that mean I don't think on the first?

Well I did volunteer to help last week on the Civil War - someone emailed me about helping - I said sure - assuming it was for the fall festival.  Well it was for the Civil War - lol - so I did both.   I have to pay better attentionHowever I'm so glad I did it.  If possible I had more fun then grandson or at least just as much.

I worked at the jail at the Fall Festival on the 19th and I thought that is what they were asking me for.  Well I guess they knew I had signed up for this already and they were asking for the next week on the 26th. Note to self - ask what they are asking of you first and not just say sure.  I'm kidding I had fun!

So this is what I did on the 26th.  The kids had a ball - scared me a little bit.  I had a teacher with me.  I manned the fire pit.  The kids had to write a letter home as if they were in the war - and then sit around the campfire (play) and tell stories.

Saturday grandson started his confirmation in the church and had a lesson - they went out for pizza - then to MUST ministries - a homeless shelter here in the area.   So that took all day.

Sunday we went to see something called the Judgement Jury.  A performance of the Tribulation I guess you could say.  It took about an hour.  Ever read the book series Left Behind?  It was in LaGrange, GA a two hour trip both ways.  That took a lot of time!

Then we had homework.  I'm in charge of the writing - which happened to be the only thing he had this weekend.

So yesterday I caught up and today I am chatting like crazy!

I also went out yesterday to look for barns and darn they are hard to find where I live!!!  And if I do find one - there is no where to stop to get a photo - and the traffic!

You can see I did try to get photos my drive by way.

I did get some beautiful foliage - we are finally experiencing fall. I think that one tree is dead - look behind it.  Our neighbor had lawn work done and I think they killed his tree.

Notice all of the fall colors on one branch?

I don't think we get as vibrant of colors as you do.

I can tell you that it is cold here today!

I hope and pray for the people in the storm called Sandy.  I don't like it to be called that.  We here in Georgia were lucky.  I know there was a lot of devastation last night.

Disco is too cute to be scary! You have been busy, but all with good things. I read all the Left Behind books- they are amazing~

Very scary, my friend! That storm is scary too!

Hi Sandie....You have been a busy bee. (But not as busy as Hurricane Sandy. She was a bad girl.)

Hope you have a peaceful day.

Yards here are pretty messy and downed trees but nothing else. Still windy but not bad.

Take care. Susan

Thou hast a full life. I enjoy all your posts, but if they get in your way, in the fast lane, this is one thing that can wait, especially for the 'Civil War'.

You are expanding your horizons whether you plan it or not.

Good on you.
Love the pictures.....

Busy days for you as always. I think the civil war thing is a good experience for kids. We used to go to a festival where they all dressed in old time clothing and the kids always enjoyed being there. Two of my grandchildren are making preparations for confirmation this year. Both live a ways away but I do hope to be there on their confirmation days but that won't be till next spring. Around here our leaves really took a beating with the high winds and rain resulting from the hurricane. It's amazing how we could be so effected here in Ohio from the east coast storm. Praying for all effected from this terrible storm. Hope your Tuesday is a terrific one!

The news reports are awful. I feel so bad for everyone dealing with the devastation.

I'm the opposite in the blogging department. I have heck posting anything.

Dico is cute.

Thanks for sharing the rest of your busy day pictures..

Terrible Disaster as I watch almost every day on T.V.

I admire the TVcrew who have to stand in the section of floods on the street.

Must be so cold to be knee high in Disaster floods..

Then In South Virgina State I think. Snow. They were in for a shock.

I kept thinking of you everytime they mentioned Sandy and I KNEW you would hate that that storm had your name...not spelled the same of course. Thinking of you and your busy life. Miss you much! Linda

CC~ Love the vivid color of the orange tree! Was happy to see it considering all mine are (now)white!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It all sounds wonderful to me! I love the part about sitting around the camp fire telling stories. That's my kind of learning.

We never even got a drop of rain from your namesake hurricane around here. My daughter in DC never even had a power flicker. We feel VERY blessed by that, based on news from NJ and elsewhere.

Love your fun pic of Disco!

I wouldn't want there to be a storm named Michaele either - no matter how they spelled it. hehe
Girl have you been busy! It was all good "giving" stuff though. Thanks for not putting too much blood on Disco.

I hope you are still safe today and enjoying a day inside. So far we have had high winds and bitterly cold temps but nothing bad. I love your latest adventures and the pretty Fall leaves!

I find it hard to keep up with everything concerning blogging. Writing posts, reading posts and commenting on posts. There just aren't enough hours in the day!!

Civil War day sounds like it was well worth neglecting your Blogging for a bit.
Your Fall colors are a little underwhelming - pretty much like our Monterey "lack of" leaf changing. Our coast oak trees just don't change colors!
Always enjoy your blog...

The fall colors in YOUR area are much more plentiful than where I AM. LOL And, yes, I did read the Left Behind series, and about mid-way, I was wondering just how long the end of the world would come, so I quit. And thankfully.

Sounds to me like you had a wonderful week/weekend. Busy, but hey...that makes the time flow more easily.

Well, if it's any consolation to you, Sandy is spelled differently. :o)

By the way....LOVE Disco's 'costume'. Way cool.

Dee said...

EEK...disco could star in a horror movie LOL.....Our trees are just about stripped bare with this wind...it is suppose to end tomorrow evening. Some trees lose leaves sooner than others...just depends on the type of tree. :)

Elizabeth said...

I'm sad this hurricane stole your name, but you spell yours much cooler.
We are happy to have escaped unscathed - power on and no flooding. YAY!
Hope you find more cool barn photos soon.

Our fall was beautiful, though short. Sandy took it all away. The good news is we made it through but there will be a lot of cleanup.

Am liking your Tuesday report, Sandy. You are a good citizen doing all that volunteer work. The kids need it. Could you have helped with the homeless misssion?

I loved the book series Left Behind. All of them got 'read' on the road via Books on Tape (really CD on my way to and from work back while I was still working. My commute was an hour fifteen minutes to work and two to three hours coming home, depending on my time and the Houston traffic.

The ones towards the end I had to wait for their publication. The sequel or what ever it was I DID NOT LIKE and returned it to the library without finishing it.

You've been busy SandIE! Big difference in spelling so you are off the hook. So many sad images on tv and I am grateful the loss of life up to this point is small considering the density of the population in the area the storm hit. Ann

Oh my Disco is looking might scary....lol
The civil war reenactment sure does look like a lot of fun.
You know I'm the same way. I find writing my posts to be a whole lot easier than sitting down reading, commenting and responding to emails.

I think Disco would scare my big tough German Shepherd! :-) So much devastation on the east coast. This storm is huge!

Sounds like you've been busy. So glad to read your blog post.

Glad you had fun at your two "volunteer jobs". My kids always liked it when I helped with class outings or parties or field days. I'm sure your grandson was happy you were there!

I think Disco is cute as he is being scary!! Your leaves are pretty, Sandie. We don't get the vibrant colors here either.

I think you had a fun job at the Civil War enactment although I'm sure you were constantly making sure the kids didn't get too close to the fire.

Lots of good things you did over the past few days. That is a wonderful ministry for the junior highers to do with the homeless shelter.

That's neat too about GS and his confirmation classes!

I didn't read the Left Behind books but I bet that performance of the Judgment Jury was a powerful one!

You sure have been busy. I have read the series Left Behind. I am so glad the storm is about over. We had some terrible flooding and the one and only stoplight in our town fell down. It was a very scary two day. Hope you have a great day.

Paula said...

I don't think they should have named that terrible storm that. You're so much nicer then that.

Marie said...

You have been a busy bee! You have so much fun with GS. :) I know he appreciates you. :)
Your neighborhood looks so pretty! You have a lot more color for fall than we do.
Happy Halloween!

I love barn chasing. I don't know what it is about barns that I like so much! You'll have to come out to Oregon. There are plenty of barns to chase.

The Civil War re-enactment sounds like so much fun.

Loved the fall colors. Hope you're safe and sound.

Today's my little dog's birthday. He's 16 years old today...will be his last birthday I'm afraid.

We postponed Halloween here until Friday due to the weather, though, I'm not even sure if we'll get any trick or treaters.

Disco looks so cool, and scary, in his makeup. You did good.

You were in LaGrange, GA? That's where I lived when I worked for the Girl Scouts and before I moved to AK. Isn't it a beautiful town?

Busy times for you. Sorry I'm so late in stopping over, I am way behind this week since I was out 3 days in a row. That's a big deal for me! Have a great weekend and I'll be talking with you soon.
Love, Debby

The Civil War thing sounds like fun!

Your fall colors are wonderful compared to ours where the leaves just dry up and fall off over the winter. Picture ugly dead leaves.
