A Belated Veteran's Day

How nice a service it was yesterday at my grandson's school to honor the veterans - every war was represented starting with one from World War II - he was 91.

All branches of the military was represented as well.

Thank God for the men and women who have served our country.

Mr. Ward the Principal.

These were the elementary kids - they did a great job!

My grandson has brown hair and glasses.

They were all very serious.

Caught one of his friends yawning!

The kids sang each branches song of the military and the men stood as their branch was sung.  This was the hubs and the army song.

The group picture - the man front right was from World War II.
That pretty redhead is my daughter - sitting down.

They even talked about the special guys from the Viet Nam War who were not as welcomed home.

It was a great tribute.

And they had some of the students draw pictures and each military person got to pick one.
Hubs loves the eagle.

That seemed like a nicely planned tribute for the military! I like how they did the songs from each branch and had those that serve/served in that branch to stand up! Very nicely done!! I like the picture of the eagle too!

This melts my heart. I am from a military family of all branches of the service. Brothers, Army, Air Force and Marines. My hubby is Navy and my son a Marine.

When it came to the Viet Nam war, I would have been bawling I'm sure. I lost a loved one who was KIA. I've blogged about him a couple of times...even today, just typing about it makes my heart ache.

Fantastic tribute to your grandson's school and their honoring the troops.

Those services are so important! Thank goodness for those who came before us, and those now that stand up for our country.

This is a nice post, Sandie. And those were nice looking groups, the vets and then the students. And your 'hub' has good choice, I would have picked the eagle also.

It was good for the students to learn about Veterans Day, what it was all about, and to know some veterans too.

Mrs. Jim and I wore poppies and I stood up when the vets were asked to do that in church. Our service was about angels though, not the wars or veterans.

SWEET.. What a nice treat, the honor to vets. I think the kids will remember and I know the VETS are grateful to be remembered. There are heroes, then there are real heroes.

Many gave of their time some gave parts of their body, others gave all.
Love from NC (Leaving for SC in the morning then FL)
