Model Air Planes

A Tribute to a good man named Ernie.

A tribute to my father in law - he has been gone 5 years now - this is not him in this picture - he's below.  This is a photo of a 93 year old on the left flying a 1945 plane - and hubs flying the plane he and his dad started when he was little.  Ernie I hope you saw it fly!

This is a photo from 2000.  My son graduating from medical school.  GS was 8 weeks old .  Ernie on the left.  Hubs holding GS.

This is Ernie's new home - he put himself in a Catholic home and loved it.  He sold the house and divided the proceeds to go to his 3 children.  Thank you Ernie.

The next is at my son's wedding in 2006.

Ernie passed away in December of 2007.

Now my son has a son that is about my other grandson's age in the second picture.  But it is not 4 generations anymore - only 3.

Thank you Ernie for everything.

 Thought for the day:

“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again.”

F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896-1940);

What a sweet tribute to a fine man. Some folk know when it is time, others do not. The time for us to make rational decisions is while we can.
I always wanted to learn to fly one of those models, just never got around to it.
Good read. Thanks. It is good to think of life, seriously sometime.

Love from Wildwood!

Nice tribute to your father-in-law. So many great memories.... People do come and go in our lives, don't they? I am fortunate to still have my father-in-law in my life. He has been such an inspiration.

Hugs,
Betsy

This is so sweet....a great tribute to your father-in-love! I remind myself every single day of how important it is to spend as much time with my dad as I can. His mind is fading fast and there still is so much I need to know.
thanks Sandy for sharing..

Family can be such a gift and Ernie seems to have been a tremendous man.
I really loved the Fitzgerald quote. I wish I had written that.

Great tribute. I enjoyed it very much. I should do this for my grandfather. Oh, how my kids loved their great grandfather. Life goes on, doesn't it?

Ernie must have been a great man!

Hi Sandie...That was a nice remembrance of your father-in-law. Imagine him finding himself a home and giving the proceeds of his estate to his kids. What a guy. So thoughtful. Take care, Sandie. Susan

I always love what you show and write on, BUT this has topped it all. What a wonderful man and a great heritage he left his family.. what devotion and love. That, I hope will be remembered by your son and grandsons in years to come..I always believe we learn the most from example and your F.I.L. taught that well. God bless you all. Much love always C xxx

I think this is wonderful. He sounds like a special man and special father. My own FIL was a man like that. We miss him. He died not long after my own dad a decade ago.

And I love that quote at the end. You had me at the first line. Love it.

This is a very nice tribute to your Grandpa Ernie. I think he would be a fun guy for you to hang out with.

I got to really enjoy one grandfather while I was growing up. He died while I was away in the Army. My other grandfather moved away, first to Missouri, then to Oregon, so we really didn't visit with him and family that much.

Hi Sandie -

Beautiful family pictures and memories!

I also liked the quote. We only become old when we stop trying new things.

Blessings,
Susan :)
