Saturday Service Info to YOU!

DID YOU EVER THINK IT MIGHT COME TO THIS IN AMERICA?  PAY CLOSE ATTENTION!

WHAT TO DO IF YOU EVER FACE A SHOOTER IN PUBLIC!

This is a video the city of Houston put together on what to do should you (a citizen) run across an active shooter, such as the guy in the movie theater.

If you haven’t seen it……it is well worth the watch and worth sharing with your family and friends as well.
 Thank you Sharon

Oh MY, that's a lot of information to digest:) I knew some of that and some I did not! Have a blessed weekend dear Chatty Crone, BIG HUGS!

Gail Dixon said...

Wow, a lot of trivia here! Of course I had to crack my knuckles when I read that one. I always thought hearing was the last to go as well...hmmm. Have a great weekend!

Jeanie said...

It is great information to have but I wonder if I would actually be able remember what we are supposed to do if I was in a public shooting situation.
I also thought hearing was the last to go.

Good info, good post. Thanks for sharing, and have a good weekend.

Now I know why I love honey so much..it's less work! I could go on and on with all that you've shared, Sandie but we're on our way out!...:)JP

Suzan said...

WOW!! That Chinese boy is amazing! To be able to make critical dicissions like that was more than doing tricks for the camera --- as long as they filmed!! BUY AMERICAN!! Lots of fun info!

Ginny Hartzler said...

The honey thing makes sense! And I have heard that a person in a coma or unconscious...the LAST thing to go is the hearing! I'm not sure about that mushroom if I believe it, I would love to see a picture, and why has nobody seen one...you'd think it would be on the news or in a book or something. I think I will try to look it up. The tiny boy running the truck...at first I thought it was awful, then I thought maybe we are a nation of weenies.

Pat said...

Lots of great facts...I have to wonder what I would remember if put in a shooting situation.

Nonnie said...

That's all very interesting. I never thought about what is the last to go. I thought I was the last to go. ;-)
If ever I have a tiny amount of liquor when I am near a scorpion I will be sure to drop it on him and see if this is true.
Never would I have thought that we would have to arm ourselves with such information as to public shootings. So very tragic.
xoxo

Susan said...

Oh man, Sandie. That shooting preparation was chilling. Necessary but s-c-a-r-y. I'd be the one hiding under the counter.

And the little Chinese boy? I felt so sad for him. He should be playing with toys and be with his buddies. I HOPE that doesn't really happen. He couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old.

Very good post. Susan

Lots of information in today's post. Good stuff!

wow, what a goldmine of information....love it and hope we never cross paths of a sniper. Thanks so much...I learned a lot!

There certainly is a lot of information in that post today. Some of them are very worthwhile and the information is valuable. Hope you have a super Saturday!

some of those facts are just creepy. :)

Oh, but I'd better not share this with DH today ... I'm trying to coax him into taking honey (vs. sugar), and this might freak him out. lol!

Me? Being left-handed, I'm trying my best to forget I read that factoid.:)

PS - Just wondering, HOW does anyone know for sure that hearing's the last sense to go? Like you, I'd always heard it was the last.

Have a sweet day!

When I first saw the little boy crank the frontloader, I thought, "Oh No...He's going to get hurt!"
I continued watching with amazement.
(I wondered where his seat belt was... :)) )

Lot of information, Sandy! And useful!! The little boy on the front loader was amazing. I hope he does not have to work all day long!

the scorpion thing with alcohol is just what happens to people, only they not only sting themselves to death they do it to others.

I think it's so sad that we needed to produce a video showing how to survive a shooting incident... What's the matter with people? Have a nice weekend Sandie:@)

Cheri said...

Wow these were some interesting facts. I have seen that video before...now if we can all remember it and not panic. Unfortunately the world is a scary place.

As always I learn something new when I visit you! Thanks Sandie. Ann

Betsy Banks Adams said...

Interesting info, Sandie. Thanks!!! I got stuck on one of them though: Left handed people die before right handed people!!!!! I read that to George and said HOORAY--that I would die first (which I hope I will). Cannot imagine being left on this earth without him.

Hugs,
Betsy

Thank you for the video, I passed it on to my family members because in todays world we never know. xoxo

My husband's company sent that same video to all their employees. Very thought-provoking, but something we all should think about, unfortunately.

Southhamsdarling said...

My goodness , that's a lot of information for us to take in! Some of them, I find quite hard to believe. It has always been said that the hearing is the last to go. I was sat with my mum when she died, and the medical staff said to keep talking to her because the hearing was the last to go. I hope it was!!

Betty W said...

Great info! Where do you get all this stuff?
Never heard that about the blue eyed people. :)

Jill said...

You are always so full of helpful information! Thank you!

oh my gosh about the earphones! I must have tons of bacteria in my ears because I have ear phones on for 8 hours a day when I work!!!

Really interesting facts! I read about roller coaster awhile ago and congratulated myself that I don't go on them! They go too fast now and they shouldn't allow it.

Annie Jeffries said...

Houston we have a problem and they have a solution too.

Re: the Chinese kid - but can he read?

I knew there was a reason I didn't like rollercoasters.

So that's why I don't like night driving

I think I'll make me a DRESS!!

Now THAT I would like to see.

Really???

Really???

Sounds low

Sounds low again

Ewww.

We aren't very efficient on how we use our brain are we?

Really???

And I say again - Ewww.

Poor Pitbulls

Hmmm.

And I've always wondered why.

I don't know if there is an Ewww in there or not.

HaHa

Weird

Weird - again

I am sure my eyes expand to 50% when I visit your blog.LOL Good info...some is scary....:(

Betty said...

I think seeing that Chinese boy working is very sad. It bothers me that so many things we buy seem to be made in China or some third world country. I have a feeling we might be horrified if we saw the working conditions, but I don't believe it's possible to just buy American products.

Dar said...

the one that sticks in my mind is...about being right or left-handed...I'd better learn to write with the other hand, hmmmmm.

I am totally going to use that mosquito fact to stump some people in trivia :)

Inger said...

Wow, that was a lot of information to digest. A bit harder than honey, perhaps. German shepherds are my favorite breed of dog and I'm sorry their owners didn't train them better so they got a bad rep. Homeowner's insurance won't cover them either. Mine was the best, sweetest, kindest dog I have ever known.

Ha I love this post.

Lots of interesting things to read!

Shirley said...

Thanks for the visit. And thanks for passing on the "active shooter" video. I hadn't seen it before and I've put it on my FB page also.

Nancy said...

Now Sandie -- I must question the German Shepherd fact -- my dogs would never bite me. Lol.

Susan J. Reinhardt said...

I knew there was a reason I don't like rollercoasters.

Yay! I'm right handed.

I'll have to check that chewing gum trick.

I also heard hearing was the last sense to go. When you think about it, how many people really hear each other when they talk? There might be some truth to the notion it's the first sense to abandon us.

Starry Dawn said...

Hi Sandie, sweet dear friend,
Oh, my goodness!...
You always provide with lots of information to your readers.
I agree with Betsy, honey.
I would rather die first, for I just won`t be able to live alone in this world without my best lifetime companion.
I guess the hearing aid is the last to go...
Have a wonderful weekend, my friend! Have a blessed Sunday!
Blessings,
Starry.

Some weird facts, Sandie. I liked reading them, none picked on me today.

I liked your Houston 'Run, hide, fight' YouTube video. There was a stupid response video to it by a guy who was a serious gun toter. My grandfather had a sawed-off 410 gauge shotgun that I would like to own. I think one of my cousins has it.

Merlesworld said...

I enjoy your jokes and bit of information, the film on the shooter good advice but I think I would panic, I am thankful it doesn't happen very often here, we do have quite strong gun laws and weapons are hard to get.

Nice list Chatty! Thank you. I didn't hardly any of those. Now I do.

Thank you. You have a super week/day okay?

Sharon said...

This was most interesting! I especially liked the one about the underground Nile - I googled that - turns out there's an river underneath the Amazon, too. Make me wonder what's lurking under that mountain I live on now.

I also liked the information about the scorpions. In a cruel way, I'd like to try that out sometime. However, that would mean a face-to-face encounter with a real scorpion. And, I have a feeling that I wouldn't be able to kill him - and in the time it would take me to decide that I couldn't commit scorpion murder, I'm pretty sure he would sting me.

So...I'll have to take your word on that one.

Hearing goes first?? How odd.

xo

WOW - I learned so much from this though I didn't have the nerve to watch the video on the shooter.

Lots of good stuff, Sandie! I wonder how they know all that, tho. You know I've had a lot of German Shepherds in my life but never knew one of them to bit anyone. They would have if they thought a bad guy was going to hurt us tho! I would have thought Pit Bulls would have gotten the biting honor.
Hope you're doing okay! We're in the middle of another snow storm as I write this. Yuck!

Cheryl @ TFD said...

Oops! Should have been BITE, not bit! I think I should probably go to bed!!

Wish I had known that bit of info on the liquor vs. a scorpion when we lived in AZ deserts....

And I can relate to the blue eyes and night vision.

Just popping in to say "Hello" back atcha. Been a busy time and will get busier as the week progresses. Hope you're doing well.
