Tuesdays Tail

I don't think I'll ever get married, but grandma thought they were cute and sometimes to get time on here I have to humor her.... you know what I mean?

Now look at me - I am 17 pounds here - 2 to 3 pounds to heavy.  They have me on a diet - and I am still 16 pounds.  You can tell it is hard to miss me - right?

Well, last week my grandma left me with grandpa while she went out with her friend Linda for lunch.  All well and good.  I like old grandpa and he likes me.  He usually takes me for a walk or two and I lay around with him during the day.  We are both couch potatoes.

This particular day was no different.  He went upstairs and he went downstairs.  When he goes up I either go under his bed - or on his bed if he naps.

Now when he goes down to the basement - I usually don't go down.  I'll admit it.   This day I did.

WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENS????  He goes up and he forgets me in the basement!!!!!!!
Can you believe it?

He looks for me and calls my name for an hour and I was right there.  He comes downstairs with a big light and it scared me so I didn't answer when he called because I was afraid.  I am a little skiddish.

He goes back upstairs and calls my mom home from school. From teaching.  He tells her I've run away outside.  And he knows one thing - I am NOT in the house!!!!!!!!!

I'm right here gramps!!!!!!!  You're wrong.

So mom calls my grandma hysterically crying saying I'm missing and something has happened to me.  Grandma tells Linda and decided to head home to help look.

Mom got home first.  Gramps was out looking the neighborhood and telling everyone I was missing.   She calls for me and I am crying - she thought I was dying somewhere.  She opens the basement door and there I am right on the top step wondering why I have been locked down here for two hours.

I was scared and shaking and when gramps saw me he didn't know to be mad or glad.

In comes grandma and the saga is over.........

Now all I can say is this - I am one big pup to be missed in the basement - know what I mean and who I'm blaming here?  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

See this is why you can't trust humans Disco...this is why we lead them with leashes when they "take us for a walk" :)

Since they are having trouble seeing you at times, you need to get bigger--right? Subsequently, triple treat portions on a regular basis are in order!

Disco, I feel for ya. My mom left me outside for a whole hour once and didn't know where I was. I bark constantly but I never bark to come in so I guess some of it is my fault....nah...I'll just keep to my story and blame mom. Guilt works great for treats.

Anyway it's nice to know they were all very concerned that you were missing. I can imagine you were very glad to be found too. I wish I were only 2 - 3 pounds overweight. Have a terrific Tuesday!

Oh, Disco, what a brave fellow you are! So glad they found you- I guess it's better than being locked out in the cold outdoors. I think you deserve an extra treat for your bravery!

Hahahahahahahahahaha I love the last picture "Like this Post".

Yeah that is cute Disco, U B blaming the old man. But us OLD men would rather blame the dog for not yelling louder.
But I am sorry you hid in the basement and NONFAULT of your own of course.

But you have to admit, it made a heck of a BLOG entry.

Good one.

Aww, poor Disco. That must have be scary. But I bet it was even scarier for Grampa. Don't be too hard on him, OK

Hi Sandie .. poor Disco - but then perhaps poor Gramps too - bet he feels a little foolish!

Glad all is well .. but overweightness in winter is ok - demand longer walks in the spring ...

Cheers - fun post Disco ... Hilary

Disco all your humans (including me) were very scared we had lost you! So don't be too mad at being locked in the basement, it just showed how much you are loved!
big hugs, Linda

Oh Disco!! Sorry, but I am also pointing some fingers at Grampa, though I'm sure he felt terrible about it. Just look at how much he loves you - he's the one who "called in the troops" after all!

I would claim emotional distress and undue confinement, and milk that excuse for days. Extra treats, extra love!

Oh, Disco, who you kiddin'. Didn't you just want the attention or did the cat get your tongue.

I have mistakingly left our cats in the basement or in the closets but they are vocal enough (and I am going to say it - smarter than dogs) and their stay was short lived.

Next time, speak up.

Bless your heart! I closed my kitty Cleo in the closet one day and she was in there about 10 hours. The new kitten met me at the door and immediately ran back and put her paw under the closet door. Uh oh, I thought. And when I opened the door, Cleo stalked out (cats aren't as shy as puppydogs sometimes are). Disco - wouldn't you think she would go tee tee? Nope - she headed straight for her food dish. :)

*hahahaha* What a cute story to read today... but I'm sure the tale (pardon the pun) was not so cute when it was happening, was it, sweetie pie. Well, I think that mishap deserves a treat... to heck with the diet. :-)

Tell Grandma I said hello!! :-)

Oh poor Disco. That must have been just awful. You should do what I do when I'm stuck in the basement. I bark and bark until they open the door. If you bark loud enough and long enough you can get your humans to do anything

Jill said...

Oh you poor thing! I have to confess...I have done the same thing to my Max. However, I did find him before I had to call reinforcements!

Oh Disco, You must have been so lonely and scared! I'm so glad there was a happy ending to the story. :)

A special P.S. for Disco!!! Disco...don't worry about it! Two of our cats each weigh more than you do!!

I'm pretty sure that if I had a basement I'd probably be doing the same thing all the time. In a one story house I lose my dog just about every day. Next time tell your husband to ring the doorbell. Bet Disco barks then.

Oh my oh my, that was no fun at all! Glad you were safe.

Golly, Disco, that had to be an ordeal! But isn't it nice to realize how very much you're loved?

Tweedles -- that's me said...

Oh Disco
Thank goodness this had a happy ending. I bet your grandpa was afraid he would be in the dog house if you really were lost--- cause it was just you and him at home.
Now you know how important you are in your family- seeing everyone fretting and all. Your loved even if some of them don;t tell you.
Sounds like everyone is a softie and not a hard shell.
This is a great story and I love it.

Oh Disco, you sure gave your family a scare.

Oh boy oh boy. I mean, oh dog oh dog, I'll bet they were glad to see all 16 pounds of you.

I don't blame you for being scared. But next time, just let out a little YAP to let Pops know where you are.

He won't be mad. Judging from the fact that he was running around the neighborhood looking for you, shows he loves you a lot.

And Disco, when they start bugging you about the, well, you know, the rather round rump, you tell them you are on the Disco Diet. Lots of love with good chow thrown in for good measure.

Okay fella?

Glad you are safe and sound. Bet the family'll let you sleep on the bed tonight. They're so glad you're okay that it's not even funny. Susan

Oh Disco! Why didn't you bark? Isn't that what you are suppose to do? I think if you would have barked or even scratched the door you would have been discovered sooner. Don't shy away from Gramps any more okay?

Tell Chatty/Grandma that I am 10 days older than her ALL RIGHT! Alright? Thank you, Disco. (big doggie hug), Renae and her Lil'Girl.

Disco, this happened to Sparky once. He got stuck under a chair. His daddy blamed him for not barking when he was called, so that he could've been discovered sooner. Glad you were okay, though I'm sure very shaken. Bless your cute little heart!

Omigoodness, I love the doggy story. He's the same size and color as our Tanner. And the way the story ended was a kick. My husband says exactly the same thing - "That's my story and I'm sticking to it."

Poor Disco! It is nice he wasn't missing.

Debbie said...

LOL! Now that it's over, I can laugh. It isn't so funny when you are the one searching.

We feed our neighbor's miniature collie when they are out of town. He regularly gives me a scare because he hides on me and mopes about and doesn't eat. I can't tell you the number of times I have searched and searched and that little booger has been hiding there watching my frenzy.

Oh poor you Disco. I think you look very handsome just the way you are - nice and cuddly! I'm so sorry that you had to go through all that trauma, of being stuck downstairs like that! I can imagine just how your mum and grandma were worried about you though, when they thought that you had escaped from the house. Phew! Thank goodness they found you. I'll send you some doggy treats over - hate to think of you fading away!!

Disco, Why oh why do you critters do this??? I had the same thing happen last night with my kitty Bumby. She somehow got out the front door and altho Mr. T insisted she didn't I just knew she did and called and called and looked with a flashlight. NOTHING. I cried and Mr. T finally went out to look for himself and there she was sitting on the front porch! See how much you are loved, Disco?!? Don't go in the basement!!! Ann TBL

Howdy Sandie, my sweet dear friend,
Oh! You see how many people come around to read your wonderful posts and write their heartfelt comments. This post is fantastic.
It brings an inspirational story about your dog, Disco. It happens to me all the time, especially when my cats hide somewhere, and I try to find them. But, I know where they hide now. I live in a small apartment, so they do not have too many places to hide. If you call your dog, and he does not answer, he might probably feel shy or scared. You might try to look everywhere, like under the beds, inside the closets, in the basement, and all other small places where he might hide. Thank you so much, Sandie for visiting my sites and expressing your lovely thoughts about my art work! I am trying new things to keep my mind active, you know.
I usually take long breaks to re-charge my inner batteries, especially when the weather is too hot. I can't take the heat...
Summer will be over in my corner of the world next month in March. So, cool days may fetch my poetical muses and bring them back alive...
Blessings & Warm Hugs to you,
Poet Starry.
