Hump Day -

AND THEN IT IS WINTER . . .(thanks Susan)

You know . . . time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years. It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all. I
have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams.

But, here it is... the winter of my life and it catches me by surprise...How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my youth go? I remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that winter was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like.

But, here it is...my friends are retired and getting grey...they move slower and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me...but, I see the great change...Not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant...but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd be. Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore... it's
mandatory! Cause if I don't on my own free will... I just fall asleep where I sit!

And so...now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!! But, at least I know, that though the winter has come, and I'm not sure how long it will last...this I know, that when it's over on this earth...it’s over. A new adventure will begin!

Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn't done...things I should have done, but indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done. It's all in a lifetime.

Don't put things off too long!!

Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether this is your winter or not!

You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life...so, live for today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember...and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!!

"Life" is a gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after. Make it a fantastic one.

LIVE IT WELL!

Now seriously - this post was for fun - so you do not have to leave a comment - I hate to turn comments off - but I hope you     just have fun reading it today and then going on to the next friend.

Tomorrow will be fun and I'll have a give a way!!

This is a well written post and it fits me too. Just this morning riding along at the ranch I was thinking why do I feel so good after feeling so bad yesterday. I wish this elderly junk would go away but I know it won't and it could get worse.

I want to send you a great big hug via this comment section, my friend.

Very well said. You made a great point. We are not guaranteed all the seasons so I guess winter is not that bad when you think of those who never made it to here.
Each day should be important.

Amen to that! Life is what we make of it, so make the best of it ^_^ Happy Wednesday! My work day is just over and dinner is awaiting. enjoy your day!

As I enter the "winter" phase of my life, I can certainly relate to your post. This is one of my favorites that you have written. At this point I'm just trying to stay healthy so I can do the things I love, which require some physical stamina. Hope you are having a wonderful day. Thank you for this wonderful post. :)

Well--one reason I am so happy in this stage of life is that I love WINTER.... I am definitely in the 'winter' of my life ---but the good news is that I'll also be in the Spring/Summer/Fall part of my life..... Great post, Sandie.

Hugs,
Betsy

I love this post--and the cartoon! And I know exactly what you mean. How did my black hair get to be pure white? How come I feel young inside and then I see myself in the mirror? How come my friends suddenly look a bit stooped? And then considering all of this, how come I'm 73 and still working full time?!!

You could have signed my name to this ... Made me tear up a little. What a great post. (but I still think of myself as 22).

I totally agree!!!!! And I never took naps before I was 60! When you talk about taking a shower, can you tell me more? Because I really have to work up my energy and strength just to shower!!!! Is it this way for you too?

I think ageing is interesting...some of my friends look ten years younger than they are and some look ten years older...me...i am in the middle but quickly moving to the older... LOL

Hello Sandie....Winter is beginning but I hope it's a loooooonnnnnnnggggg one! ha ha ha

I really do feel life is a tremendous gift and each day is a treasure.

Whenever I get to griping about getting older and the aches and pains that go along with it, I remember that my mother and brothers didn't get to be as old as I am now. So, I am thankful to be getting old and am enjoying life!

Oh I totally agree!! I remember seeing my parents slanting the paper to read it and I thought WOW!! Now I am slanting that paper to read it LOL
How time flies and how you see things so different at our age. Things we worried about then, dont seem as important now!!

I love your new header, etc.

I am becomig more and more aware of the fact that I am becoming a senior, myself, Sandie. My Mom was a wonderful example to me of a person who refused to give in to age -- she kept active and busy until her last week of life. I hope that even with all my aches and pains I can do the same. :)

Hope you and your family had a very Happy Easter!

I would much rather be a 'senior' or 'senior citizen' than an elderly person. Seems it's always the elderly person that gets the gas pedal mixed up with the brake pedal. And then the elderly person is younger than I am. ')

This post couldn't have come at more timely moment. I've been having winter thoughts lately. Well, maybe more like very late autumn when the leaves are falling off the trees faster than you can catch them if you know what I mean.
