Tuesday's Helpful Hints

Bounce This Along

U.S. Postal service sent out a message to all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to keep yellow-jackets away. Use them all the time when playing baseball and soccer. I use it when I am working outside. It really works. The insects just veer around you. All this time you've just been putting Bounce in the dryer!

1. It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.

2. Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.

3. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.

4. It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.

5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.

6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.

7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.

8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.

9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.

10. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.

11. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.

12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.

13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan.

14. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.

15. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the loose hairs.

16. Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.

17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.

18. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.

19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.

20. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.

21. Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. It will keep them smelling fresh.

22. Wet a Bounce sheet, hose down your car, and wipe love bugs off easily with the wet Bounce.

23. Put a sheet of Bounce in your suitcase when traveling, it will help keep mites or any other critters out of it. While you are at it, travel with several Bounce sheets and run them up and down your bed linen before getting into bed, it will cause all the critters already in your bed to run. Keep a sheet in your suitcase even after you have unpacked to protect your suitcases from bugs nesting in it.

I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE BUT I HAVE HEARD IT BEFORE AND HAVE USED IT AS A BUG REPELLANT AND THAT WORKS!  Thanks Sharon.

BUTTONS - did you know?

Did you know at one time, fancy buttons indicated social status.  Rumor has it that during his lifetime. King Louis IV of France spent over $5 million (based on today's dollars) on buttons.

i am happy to say, i do not have anyone who left me in difficult times. i did have the other two, several times.
i eat the same thing for breakfast every day and it has not made me eat less at all. i eat a half bagel with peanut butter/apple butter on it.

i saw something on Tv yesterday that repels bugs, THEY said this is true but who knows. they said bugs do not bite zebras, they are the only animal that flie/mosquitoes and other bugs don't bite. they did a test and if they wore clothing in zebra print the bugs did not bite them...

I started talking out loud when I got to that last list. 3 names came to mind...right away! lol Love these tips. I have a friend that puts the dryer sheets in their air vents for the air to blow through and freshen the air. I almost wrote BLOG through! heeheehee! Sweet hugs!

Got to just love those who "helped, left, caused" the difficult time!!! And the tips for the Bounce...heard of it...will definitely try it!...:)JP

1. I can not eat a bite. I have tried. Really and truly, I have tried.

2. I eat the same thing every morning for breakfast. Apparently, it's lunch and dinner that do me in.

3. I had not read (or don't remember) all those things about Bounce. I'm going to get some to try on the shower door. We usually use liquid fabric softener.

Great ideas!

"Bet you can't eat just one" is my life's story.

I'm heading for the bounce because we are inundated with wasps right now.

Wow, I didn't know Bounce could do all those things. I'll definitely use it as a mosquito repellant. I like the smell, too. Think I'll buy some soon. Thanks, Sandie.

Great info, Sandie. I knew some of that stuff about Bounce --but not all of it. Thanks!!!!

I eat the same breakfast 6 mornings a week (with the other being our special omelets as brunch)... My breakfast consists of Greek plain yogurt, Wheat Bran sprinkled on top, and topped with bananas and strawberries... YUM....

Hugs,
Betsy

Love the last quote. So true.

I have used Bounce to clean off dust on TV screens, but not the flat screen tv. I've also used one (a used Bounce sheet) for just general dusting. Works great!
Have a nice day!

Well the bounce never worked for the mosquitos or the blackflys. It was the smell my area they loved and bit me for. I cannot wear any perfume. Now with the snap on . I am free from them to bite. The will benear me but wont bite.

Well you know your Grandson wears one right when he is in the camp.

Bounce is a great repellant, it keeps me FAR, FAR AWAY! So does Gain laundry detergent.

Nonnie said...

I will have to pick up some Bounce. It would be great if only a few of those ideas work.
I don't watch Dr. Oz, but I do eat the same thing every day. Same as him. Yogurt and blueberries. However, it's the rest of the day that presents a problem!!

Hey Sandie, Great list here.

It seems that in the LIFT, those later two categories was from my ex. yup.

You cracked me up about not doing well with the pattern mixing. That is cuz we are from the same school. My fashion doings are back in kindergarten lately. hahahahahaha.

That sounds like a great things to use, especially for bugs and mosquitos - they always seems to love me. I haven't experienced so many of them here in Ireland, but back home in Sweden...hua...I got bitten all the time. Hope you're having a great Tuesday. Mine has been pretty good, was sunny earlier but now it's raining.

Love,
Eva

I'm not so sure about eating the same thing every morning. I would get pretty bored with the same thing all the time but then maybe that's the point.

Ginny Hartzler said...

The Bounce things are fabulous, I am buying some this week!! We are again having tiny ants all over everything. I guess I will be using Bounce for everything EXCEPT it's intended use! I know why you lose weight if you eat the same thing for breakfast every morning. You get so sick and tired of it that you don't eat it anymore! I saw that Dr. Oz show.

nancygrayce said...

I knew a few of those uses for bounce, but if all of those work, WOW!! We already have Mosquitos so I'm going to try the bounce for sure!

If I could eat just one bite of anything, I wouldn't need to watch the weight....I don't get people who can do that, but admire them.

I WANT to think all those things are true about the Bounce dryer sheets, sort of a miracle worker, like aspirin!

THe bounce thing works in luggage and as mosquito repellant but thats all I can vouch for. I also heard the button thing on the history channel? Not sure...but they said people would wear button covers to disguise cheapo buttons...Time to get a life.

I agree with this food business-eating the same food for breakfast and lunch does help with the weight. I know it's not exciting, but I save my calories for our Friday night out. It works for me!
Sweet Hugs my friend!

I've got to get a box of Bounce. I have allergies to insects and it's easy to carry a few sheets of Bounce. Thanks!

Jo-Anne's Ramblings said...

I have not heard of Bounce but it sounds like what we call Fluffy they are sheets that go into the dryer to stop the clothes from getting static
electricty and sticking together

Marie said...

I'm so thankful to not have a mice problem! Bounce is awesome! One bite of cake...LOL!!! Why would I stop at one bite!?!? That's just crazy!
My breakfast is usually diffent. I eat eggs, oatmeal, cereal and usually I have blueberries or blackberries on the side if I'm home. If we go out I eat too much. :)

Nice Tuesday post, Sandie. Mrs. Jim and I have eaten the same breakfast every day for the forty years we've been married. We share a packaged granola bar, each eating one stick. Also have coffee.

I am allergic to Bounce. It gives me a headache and a sore throat and makes me itch all over. Sorry.

Great Tips Sandie!! I use dryer sheets for a lot of things.

Seems to me the dryer sheets are not made as well as a few years back.

I've just put Bounce on my shopping list! Thanks for the tips.

I do agree that it's the first bite of anything that tastes the best to us. Now if I could only adopt that practice. :-)
