Monday's fragments....

It's Monday - good morning ah er good afternoon???

Got some fragments for you today:

I went to Cracker Barrel last Friday morning and I was looking up at all the antiques they have there.  I am watching the picker show now on TV and thinking about things like that.  My husband said they were all replica's and I said that I didn't think so.  Well the manager over heard us and he started talking to us.  They are real.  There are no replica's.  That each store has it's own antiques.  And if you look at each antique they all have a tag on them. Cracker Barrel have huge stores houses with items like the ones you see are stored in.
And this was the interesting thing.  If you look over the fireplace it will have something for your specific area.  And sure enough it had a diploma of someone from Marietta High School from decades ago.
Once someone recognized their relatives and CB did give the photos  to them.
And they start a brand new menu this week.

Sunday I did not even turn the computer on - grandson and I had a project to do and it took the entire day.  A book on characters.  He was to pick 8 characteristics and write about them and make a scrape book.  Luckily I had all this stuff so it cost us nothing but time.  And a lot of it too.  I think he did a pretty great job - but I don;t get the scrape book part of it.  The essays and poems yes - not the decorating which was so TIME CONSUMING! lol

My grandson is will be three this November in Ohio - starts pre-school today.  Schooling begins!

Now here is a site sent to me by Jenn From Three Graces - it is about what to buy in bulk and what not to if you are interested
tp://money.msn.com/debt-management/best-and-worst-groceries-to-buy-in-bulk

I didn't know that you could buy gift cards for cheaper at these kinds of stores - then their face value!

THE TWENTY MOST DANGEROUS CARS ON THE ROAD

Excellent - you will be surprised
.

Okay from Disco - this is the girl he picked - don't know her name - any suggestions?

THE LAUGH:

THE LIFT - my new favorite song.

The scrapbook is really nice. I learned a lot today. Mostly, I learned I'm lucky to be alive after driving that Ford Pinto for so many years!

I love Cracker Barrel --and will have to look above the fireplace at OURS the next time we go.

Loved all of those links you gave. We go to Sam's ---and I'm never quite sure what is a good deal and what is not. We love their meats. Some items I can get much better deals by using store brands instead of name brands.

Glad our car (nor any Toyota) is listed on that list.

I did not know to store peanut butter upside down... Amazing.

Thanks.
Hugs,
Betsy

Cracker Barrel has a store house full of antiques. Wow, no wonder they are so hard to fine. Have a good week.

What a fabulous job you two did on that scrap book!

Oh and those Doritios commercials are always good for a giggle :)

There were a lot of good things in your post today, Sandie.

The little girl in the Doritos commercial was adorable.

Good job on the scrapbook!

The singer was cute and the message of the song was super, too. Just need a little bit of everything! Yeah! Susan

Wow - a whole lot of good information in those links! Love the scrapbook you and Andy made. Hope he gets a good grade!!

What fun today!

I wish we had Cracker Barrel restaurants out our way. I love antiques - and fortunately, my husband likes to go shopping with me. And, we are also HUGE fans of the Pickers show. We'd actually love to do that, but I'm afraid that we'd only buy a bunch of stuff we wouldn't want to sell!!

Looks like the scrapbook came out really nice. You two are quite a team!

And, the name for Disco's girl? Let's call her The Dancing Queen - Queenie for short - that was a great song from the *disco* era!

Hi Sandie! Thanks for the list of pets killers. I knew some of them but not all of them. My Lil' Girl was sick last week, I think she got too many weird foods on our trip down south. Oh see is fine now. She avoids onions like the plague but she is bad at getting chocolate wrappers out of the trash and liking them. ooooooooh.

You worked hard on that assignment for GS. (hug) to you!!!!!

Beautiful job on the scrap book!

Love the little Chihuahua. When I got my last little one, she was so tiny and her little head bobbled around, so I named her Katie... after Katharine Hepburn. Remember how her head bobbled in her later years?

Ginny Hartzler said...

That project is WAY too time consuming! Too many characters, then to have to decorate, reminds me of college or something. LOVE the poison things for pets and the things that have new uses, I need to write these down and REMEMBER them!!! Never knew most of them, but they are all so cool!!! So Disco is looking for a lady? Tell him not to settle for the first bitch he sees...

Paula said...

Andy is lucky to have a grandmother with such interest in helping him and to be near enough to help him. I think Disco's girl may be just what he needs. Awww how sweet they will be together.

Jackie said...

Love Cracker Barrel. We eat there about 3 times a week. I'm disappointed that their new menu won't have some of the items that I really like(d) on it...(no more applesauce....no more BBQ pork...sigh.)
But, I'm sure that the world will still turn.
Hugs to you,
Jackie

I did not know that about the antiques at CB- I thought they were replicas! Great job on the scrapbook.

I love all the antiques they have at craker barrel.

Sweet Pea for Disco's little dog. Who is she? A girlfriend? Disco's dreamgirl? Anyhow, today I read a lot of links you provided, including what foods to buy in bulk and what foods never to give to your pet. Our dogs never get any people food, but accidents happen, like countersurfing done by Samson, where he has found both avocados and bananas and eaten them while we were away. Now we know so we are careful.

Linda @ A La Carte said...

After all the years of eating at Cracker Barrel I had decided their antiques were real. I think they started collecting before it was 'cool'!! Oh Disco's love is a cutie pie!

How crazy is it ... I was just wondering about the CB antiques the other day! Suppose this makes ME an antique, but I recall many in and around my grandparent's farm; seeing them always evokes a sweet, warm feeling. (Great marketing ... I guess that's CB's point, eh?)

Tom is doing better; but we're still on edge 'til the PET scan results ... thanks for asking, dear friend!

Jemma@athomewithjemma said...

Well goodness! I had no idea about Cracker Barrel-that is so interesting, I really thought they were reproductions too-

That Doritos commercial did make me laugh!

Oh sister, you are singing my song about the scrap book. Really, don't even get me started.

Never mind. You already did. Ha!

I got so irked when the girls were coming through school at the number of projects that they did as compared to the number of papers that they wrote. I mean, so irked that it still makes my blood boil to think about it. Do you know who taught them writing? Me. UGH.

OK, deep breath, Debbie.

And Disco's girlfriend is named ELLE of course!! It has to be. She looks just like Elle Woods from "Legally Blond" .

I haven't been in quite awhile bu do like to go there. I'm reading this a day late. Hope you have a terrific Tuesday!

I just want to thank you for your payers and compliments. I can vouch for your advertisement you have for Amerimark???not sure how to say it or spell it. My pant suit had frosting on the sleeve from little Chris so I put it in cold water. put a dryer sheet in the dryer and let it run on air for a few minutes and hung on hangers and it came out so pretty. I live your blog. So interesting. I am not artsy at all but I admire all who are.

Dee said...

Interesting a informative Monday post....Why have I never thought to tie my floss into a loop...? great idea, And the Chinese take out container can be used as plate...I will try that next time I get take out. I knew about the antiques being real at Cracker barrel but did not know about using from the specific area...I will take a peek next time I am at our local C.B
I do think Dicso needs a LOLA.♥
