Wednesday Hodgepodge

Join Joyce at From the Other Side of the Pond and join in with the questions on -

1. What's something you're never too young or too old to enjoy?

Food - you can always look up a new recipe and try something different.  There are foods for the soul.  There are country meals. Romantic meals.  Cook in or out. Italian.  Greek. French.. American. Lebanese. Polish. German. Swedish. Dutch. Indian.  Cuban. Danish. Jewish. Mexican. Spanish. Jamaican.  And many more - see what I mean?  Can you think of others and what is your favorite?
My favorite is Greek food.

Disco will take dog food.

2. Share one happy memory from your high school years.

Okay my favorite memory was  my first love.  He helped me survive and thrive from a rough past.  I think my life turned around then.  I am always thankful for that time.

3. A nationwide strike of fast food employees took place in the U. S. last week...they're calling for higher wages and the right to unionize? Your thoughts?

To be honest I didn't know that.  I don't know much about the employees from fast food.  But what I do know is - at least you have job!  Keep it because there is someone else right behind you who will take it.  It seems every job is that way these days.

4. September is National Honey Month...what's a favorite dish you make or eat that calls for honey?

I am not a honey eater at all.  But I suppose I like it best in hot tea.  I know it's good for you.

5.  If you notice someone with a tag sticking out, a button unbuttoned, a shirt on inside-out, or some leftover lunch stuck between their teeth do you say something or do you keep quiet?

If it a friend or relative I may mention it to them secretly.   Depends on how bad it is.
I will leave strangers alone - unless it is like a piece of toilet paper they are dragging around! lol

6. What movie always makes you cry?  Or at least makes you feel like crying?

Shadowlands.always makes me cry.

7.   'Mary Had a Little Lamb' was written in May of 1830, and published inJuvenile Miscellany in September of that same year.  Now for the fun part...create your own four line rhyme using that same tune.

Sandie had a little dog, little dog, little dog
Sandie had a little dog, that's fierce as anyone knows
Everywhere that Sandie went, Sandie went, Sandie went
Everywhere that Sandie went, the dog was sure to go!

Well he is little, he is fierce (he's a nut), and during the day he follows me everywhere (like glue)!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

I think I am feeling a right balance between home/school and blog/facebook.  I feel so much better.  I feel I am doing both better - at least I think for me.

Well yes, food is one thing that no matter what age, we can all enjoy. Some more than others I think. Hope you have a Wonderful Wednesday there at your house. This week is flying by fast. How'd it get to be midweek already?

I agree you are never to young to enjoy food. I like middle eastern food with lots of spices. I love the double trouble photo. So cute!

I had very mixed feelings about the fast food strike. On the one hand, income on pt jobs for teens and young people in school should be what it is. On the other hand, the income clearly is not sufficient to support a family. But these jobs were never intended to be full time living jobs. It's painful, but it's not a problem that can be solved with increased wages. Hours will still be depressed and health insurance non-existent. And anyone who believe that ObamaCare is the low cost solution? Well, I know of a bridge in Brooklyn that is still for sale.

I think you are never too old to read the newspaper funnies. I remember my Grandmother always reading them and as a teenager I thought I was too cool for that now. She said "when you get too old to read the funnies you're in big trouble" Lol

Oh how I love the puppy picture !!!

I enjoyed reading your answers, Sandie. These hodgepodges bring us closer as we get to know each other better!

Love the double trouble puppies, and your poem about Disco!!

Ginny Hartzler said...

I agree with you on almost everything today! Disco is s nut, that made me laugh. In my documents I still have saved "I am king of the castle of nuts, all I need is my crown" Eery time I scroll past it, I think of you and laugh!!

I didn't participate for Wednesday Hodgepodge this week, but I'm still stopping by to say "Hi!".. I was on board with you about honey in my tea. In fact, Dear Daughter has me drinking Agave Honey now, whatever THAT is; but I don't use honey for much else. Once in a great while I'll find it's needed in a recipe... Loved your altered poem about Disco!! CUTE! ~tina

Yes, food is always something one can enjoy. And I do too. Our long weekend ended up with two extra pounds this morning. Bugger. I'll have them off in a couple of days.

Have a terrific day honey. Big hugs. ☺

I am so happy for you that you found some balance in your busy life. Your blog is so full of life and so lovely. Of course I love the doggie in the bowl and the double trouble ones.

Thanks for your kind words yesterday.

So glad you're finding a good balance. I find it so difficult too.
Food. Yes! I enjoy Greek food tremendously. I think I've liked every type of ethnic food I've ever tried. I think I just like food.

Morning Sandie! Those cute little dog bottoms made me laugh and laugh. So funny. Have a tremendous day, k?

I didn't know about the fast food strike. While I agree, a job is a job, I have always thought the fast food workers have one of the worst jobs ever. Not only are you dealing with greasy, nasty food all day, you are dealing with the public. Many of them beyond rude and demanding. All while making minimum wage. These are billion dollar companies, they can afford to pay their workers a little better, imo.

Can't stop smiling over that pup sleeping in his food bowl.

Puppy in the bowl... too cute!

There are many movies that make me cry. I watch them every chance I get, so I'm crying for different reasons than usual, you know... a change of (crying) pace.

Joyce said...

I guess I feel a little like you...so many complainers in the work force, when so many would love to have any job at all. I liked your rhyme : )

Nonnie said...

Oh yeah. I love me some Greek food.
Lol, I had to tell one of my co-workers one time about the tp hanging from her dress. So funny that you would mention that.
Peanut butter and honey on toast. Yummy!!!
I loved that movie, too.
And I am with you on the fast food employee thing. Good grief. I made 50 cents an hour in the summer when I was 15 baby-sitting 3 kids, their pregnant mom, and doing light housekeeping.

I asked the Superhero the first question and he said "sex". Spoken like a true male! So I would say love....never too young or old for love.

I agree about the food being able to be enjoyed by all ages and stages. I need to quit enjoying it so much!

Number one = good answer!!

I can't believe it's already Wednesday and Wed. night at that. I've been laid low today with an awful headache. That always puts a kink in that balance I'm trying to achieve. Glad to hear things are leveling out for you. There's just so much to do and so little time!

Susan said...

Dear Sandie...I'm with you on the food! ha ha ha

What is Shadowlands about?

Enjoyed reading the answers to the questions! Susan

Talking about food...it's about time I had lunch, I think! I'm running late today...and it's a wonder, Remy, one of my furry, four-legged rascals hasn't informed me of this fact!

I LOVE the pups!
I'm so happy you have found balance. :)

I love honey. My Daddy was a beekeeper, and I was his helper. I'd rather have honey than syrup any day.
Love reading the responses you posted. I always learn more about my blogging friends when I read posts like these.
