Fun Friday with a little help from my friends...

Oh to be a dog - a simple life - right?

I am just plain old sorry about my lack of posts,  my reading your posts so late, and reading some and not commenting.  My life has turned into a big ball of busyness.  I'm not even sure how it got to be that way!!   I have a ton of things going on and something has to change right now.

I'm not going to give up my blog - and my friends - because it is such a part of me and I love all my friends.. So I have decided to cut down for awhile until my life changes up with me.   I'll be reading as many as I can and commenting, but I won't get everyone, all the time.  I'm sorry.

You know - I am going to say this - I bet over the years I've lost 50 friends - that means someone has to go in and purposely 'de-friend' me 50 different times!    I just had another one de-friend me.  I wish they would tell me why. Inquiring minds would love to know.  I am very sensitive if you didn't know.

I have talked to others about this and we all say it is no big deal, but the truth it does hurt - because it's on purpose.  It's saying that you are no longer want to be my friend - I have done something you don't like.

Well you have to say it's okay, because what can you do about it?   So if you need to de-friend me you will have to de-friend me, but I'm not going to be able to write everyone like I have been doing.  And I am NOT trying to hurt you or be a bad friend.  I just can't keep up right now.

I wanted to tackle this subject because I am not de-friending you when I don't write!  I'm just trying to keep my sanity for right now.  You know just because someone doesn't write for a little while doesn't mean you aren't friends anymore.   Have you ever had a friend that you haven't talked to for awhile and then you get back in touch and you feel like you have never been away?

Well that is the end of my speech - except to say my son and his family are here until Monday so you know where I'll be til then!

So now for some Friday fun - it is fun for me to find things that are interesting and fun.  It makes me happy to make my FRIENDS happy.

I love everyone and thank you all for being there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So would you want long hair like this?  I have never had long hair.

BRRRRRR!

Machines vs nature.

HEAVENLY - I think this is beautiful.

For my cat lovers......

For my dog lovers . . .

OOPS!

THE LAUGH (MORE LAUGHS!)

THE LIFT:

Do the things you used to talk about doing but never did. Know when to let go and when to hold on tight. Stop rushing. Don't be intimidated to say it like it is. Stop apologizing all the time. Learn to say no, so your yes has some oomph. Spend time with the friends who lift you up, and cut loose the ones who bring you down. Stop giving your power away. Be more concerned with being interested than being interesting. Be old enough to appreciate your freedom, and young enough to enjoy it. Finally know who you are.”  Kristin Armstrong

Good Morning and thanks for the chuckles. You are not alone in the de-friending issue. It does leave you wondering why and I over-think it too. But then I would rather focus on the lovely people who do visit and read. You don't have to comment all the time. I know you are still there. Enjoy your days and don't stress.

Thank you for the smiles Sandie. I have had one person unfriend me this week and several the last month. I love your posts Sandie and I value your friendship so you are stuck with me!! HUGS!!

I know it is hard sometimes to think people opt out of certain blogs at different times in their life. I have done it on occasion when I need to cut back and it isn't because i don't like the person but it is sometimes that they haven't corresponded with me in a long while and I wanted to add a different blog . Sometimes you can only get to some many blogs on your dashboard and the extra blogs that you aren't currently connecting with as much or as deeply add to the too many blogs on your dash . Never is it someone that I connect with often. Usually it is someone I feel wouldn't notice if I was gone . The reader gets overwhelming with too many blogs showing up sometimes ... just my little ole explanation lol

the bully, the chickens and the horror movie are hilarious.. love the first photo.. so cute, both of them.
my question for you is why do you look to see if any one befriended. i have never once looked to see that. i don't look at the followers and don't even know right now how many follow. if it bothers you don't look at it..the way i look at it, is people have to get their blogging time under control and don't always have time to go to every blog. you did not do anything to make them mad, they are just trying to control their own busy lives. it has nothing to do with you at all. and take time off from blogging and get life back under control when i took 4 days off it was like a gift to me.... you have a very busy life.

Hilary Melton-Butcher said...

Hi Sandy - life does get busy - c'est la vie ... just do what you can!

That horror movie looks like I'd be crying chicken and disappearing behind the sofa!

I think they don't necessarily unfriend you ... blogger does some silly thing sometimes ... and honestly the number isn't important - it's the mates around the blogosphere that matter ..

Love dogs too - but I did goats and food today! cheers Hilary

Losing blog friends happens to everyone....I think it is often because people quit blogging, but I agree that we sometimes would like to know why.
Love the laughs today, especially the "bully" dogs.

Thanks for checking in. Yes, it does hurt to be de-friended; I've been on the receiving end of that. No fun. Sometimes we have to take a step back and reevaluate. Don't feel guilty if life is too busy right now or worry about who will stay and who will go. We can only do so much. Enjoy your family time!!

Imma tell you a secret. I have commented to Sherry, I have no idea how Chatty keeps this up, I could never comment that much on so many blogs, it is tough.
You do what you feel comfortable. Anyone defriending was there just for the 'comments' to add to a collection.
Anyone not understanding 'busy' times ain't too smart to start with.
Always enjoy the blog when you can post. I appreciate comments as much as anyone, but they do not a friendship make.

Love you girl and yep I understand one wanting the life of a puppy sometimes.

You take care. Life is good.
Thanks for being here on the net... You make life better.

Hi my friend. Feel free to come and go to my blog whenever you get a chance. Like you, I am blogging less often now, but I still love, love, love my blogging friends. I have no idea about the number of followers I have. I pretty much know who comes and comments on my blog on a regular basis, but I don't really keep up with that, either. I recognize their name/profile when I see it, draw a mental picture of "who" that is and am so delighted to see my blogging buddies when they are able to visit. Perhaps...(and this is just a perhaps) the person who isn't on your follower's list doesn't have a blog anymore. When that happens, the name will not appear on your followers' list. I'm just guessing, but I bet that is a likely reason for followers' names to be gone from your list. I do understand that it is hurtful if someone purposefully drops you, but I am almost positive that doesn't happen to you, sweet friend. Just do like I do. Don't even go there. I don't have a clue how many followers I have, and I don't check on that ever. I just enjoy enjoy ENJOY writing my blog, reading your comments when you are able to visit, and I enjoy visiting your blog. You keep smiling, OK. :)
If we only have a handful of dedicated loving blogging friends (even one, really) that is sufficient (to me.)
I care about each of my blogging friends, and I try to keep the blog numbers that I visit down to a manageable number because I want to devote the time to really reading their blog, commenting on it, (when I have a chance) and sharing the smiles and love. I love you. I do hope that you have a beautiful week, and I hope that you know that you have a friend in me. Great big hugs to you....
Love,
Jackie

I can't imagine why anyone would dislike you. I'm just saying. I do know that there are lots of toxic people on the Internet. They come and gladly they get mad and leave. It's okay with me as I'm not that sensitive about people that I don't really know. I have unfriended people that are toxic. I did it in a hot second too. Life is too short for those kind of folks.

You take your time doing what you want. Those of us that love you will be right here when you decide to post.

Have a fabulous day honey. Big hugs to you and scritches to Disco. ♥♥♥

Thanks for the giggles! I don't do Facebook, so I don't know about defriending. What weird word that is. But I lose followers all the time and then I gain followers all the time. Where I'm at with blogging now is that it doesn't matter how many people follow me, what matters is how many bloggers have become friends and leave comments regularly. Those bloggers matter to me and when they stop blogging without explanation, I really worry. I really don't like it, which is why I am so glad you are letting us know you plan to cut back. May I also suggest that perhaps you could make your posts shorter? It will save you some time and you will still be keeping in touch. Take care my friend.

Hi Sandie. I so understand what you are going through. I don't know that it is always a true "defriending". Sometimes people just drop out and then they are gone from your roster. We will all be waiting for you to post (and visit) when and as you can.

Hang in there, my friend, and enjoy some quieter, less stressful times. xo Diana

cute pic of the cat and light bulb. i also like the chicken horror movie. then the pumpkin warning the turkey was cute too.

anyways stick in there my friend, maybe we both can get back on track huh.

Theresa Mahoney said...

I wouldn't feel too bad about the de-friending. I get A LOT of people passing though that follow me just to get a follow for their own blogs. I assume it's those who turn around later and unfollow mine, but keep me as a follower of theirs. That happens on Twitter all the time. I just wish blogger had a unfollower tracker like twitter does so you know who did it. I don't take it personal. There are many folks who are only out for themselves, so those 50 you lost are probably the selfish ones. You have a fun blog! Just keep doing what you are doing and the right readers will stick around :)

Hi Sandie. Really enjoyed the funnies today, and I loved the photo of your grandson with the little dog! We all understand about you laying low for a little while. I've certainly done it before. Sometimes life takes over - you know that we will all be here when you're ready to return. Take care and enjoy your time with the family. x

Oh Sandie - it was well worth waiting for this post. May I just take the time to quickly address two things you said?

First of all, the busyness makes perfect sense. And I think you are wise to attend to your *real life* first and foremost. Blog Land will still be here, and I will look forward to your posts, but it has to be something that *works in* to everything else.

Which brings me to my second thought. Losing followers. (I'm not on Facebook, so I haven't had to suffer the hurt of being de-friended). I lost a couple of followers in the last month, and you're right, it hurts. There might be good reasons, but still...

So, I am here, standing as a friend of yours. And I am so grateful that you are mine! (You are, right???)

Loved the laughs today - out loud!

Much like real life, friends come and friends go, for a wide variety of reasons. Sometimes, you make a "connection" and sometimes it's just a brief acquaintance. Personally, I prefer those I can make a connection with beyond blogger. Those are the ones that I consider "friends" and not just a number on the followers. If it makes you feel any better, the very first time I lost a follower, I considered giving up blogging, that's how bad it hit me. Now, I know the ones that matter will be there.

Betsy Banks Adams said...

Hi Cutie, Please don't take it personally when people take you off of their lists. I take people off and put people on every single month… It's not because I don't like them. It's because I haven't heard from them.. When they start coming back to my blog, I'll re-add them.. It's NEVER personal. I just HAVE to keep my list do-able for me..

I don't know about you but there are LOTS of people who 'follow' me --who NEVER comment and whom I do NOT know at all… Those people come and go a lot --so the numbers will change… As I said, what I care about are those who come to me.

I've lost good friends through the years who have stopped blogging. Some of them I see on Facebook. Others I still email with on occasion… But some have just disappeared.

I guess--through the years--that I've just had to blog for ME --and if others enjoy it, that is GREAT. I do take more and more time off these days to do other things--but still love blogging when I have time.

You need to enjoy life --and blog when you can. And you need to quit apologizing when you can't do it… Bless you, my friend… I'm so sorry you are struggling so much…

Thanks for all of the 'funny ones' today. I stole some of them….

Love you bunches
Betsy

Hi Sandie...I understand entirely. Sometimes time just evaporates and I am unable to comment on posts I read cuz there's not enough time in the day.

So don't worry a BIT about not stopping by until you have a chance and life calms down. (Next February? hee hee)

Sandie, I never defriend anyone. If I don't want to continue reading a blog, I just skip it. Why defriend and risk hurting someone's feeings?

But I have had people defriend me and like you, it does sting. We work so hard on our posts and to have someone say "Defriend" is like a smack in the teeth.

Have FUN this weekend. (I know you will.)

Thinking of you. Susan

I can relate to not being able to post or leave comments all the time. I will keep you in my prayers.

Hope you have a great visit with your son/family Sandie. Honestly, I think we consume ourselves too much in these blogs; I think I've said this before to you. It should come as our lowest priority but sometimes we make it our highest priority. My last blog break really helped me put things into perspective about this. Now if I feel like reading blogs I do; if not, its okay, they'll always be here tomorrow. I think you need to find the right balance for yourself and there will always be those times that life takes over so to speak and you can't do it all. If people don't understand that, then they are really not your friend.

I understand what you're saying. I can't tell you how many friends I've lost over the past four blogging years. One time, it was after a post that would be considered an opinion post. (About Oprah Winfrey). The res of the times, it was just random so I don't know why. I don't usually think it's because of something I said but more that the person just finds me to me uninteresting and waste of her time. That hurts even more.

I know that I have been a really bad blog friend for months now. I didn't intend to be that way, but once I stepped away, life got just crazy. Days turn into weeks and weeks into months. I hope you don't do that because when I am of "sound mind and body" I really and truly do LOVE coming here.

It is the holiday season and everyone is frantic and busy and a bit depressed. You are feeling what a lot of us are feeling. Just last night I almost deleted my Facebook site completely because looking at it felt like standing in the grocery store reading the headlines from the National Inquirer. I will admit that I stopped commenting as much on your blog posts even though I always read them because you had so many followers I didn't think you would miss me. Oops. Take a break, relax, enjoy the rest of 2013 and start over in 2014. If I survive this year without my Ron it will flat be a miracle but I know he wants me to be strong and so I shall try. Sandie, you are wonderful.

Please take some time off, especially that all the holidays are upon us!!

It's called a mental health break. :-)

I personally have been mentally chanting the mantra "I am not superwoman" all this month, I have had to slow down and if something is not done or gets left off... it does. It is so hard since I am very type A, yet it's about quality of life and I rather have better quality than more quantity of things accomplished.

Some people only follow so you can follow them back and then once you have followed them they un-follow, etc. So many reasons, try not to focus on that or internalize it. It all stems from that internal feeling that many of us struggle with of being rejected. It's not us, as I have so often read and laughed on your blog it's more than likely them or some other issue in their lives and not us.

You are wonderful and please, please, please take some much needed time so that we can all continue to be motivated by you, laugh, smile and cry with you for many years to come.

You've got a friend in me.
God bless you!

Sandie you remind of my mom in a lot of ways, but I once read a saying when I was younger and perhaps it's easier said than done but in the end there's nothing more true - “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.” I'm sure you've read that before.

Try not to let those little things like people on the interwebs bother you. It sounds like you've got a lot on your plate and you don't need to worry about such. From the looks of it there are a ton more people right hear who care about you, and those are the ones that matter. You're not alone, sometimes people don't comment back or regulars who used to visit with me just disappear and do not come around anymore. Sometimes I wonder about it, but that's what the blog world is like. The audience is always changing.

I wish you the best and send my prayers your way.

Toodles,

Well, Sandy, I think that is the way the blogging is anymore. They have more activity on Facebook than their blogs and all of a sudden they miss you. Right now until maybe next year I will cut back on blogging even more. FB is harder to get away from, addictive perhaps like some computer games.

I had one lady on FB defriend me. She was a real pest and very negative so that was good riddance. Except that once in a while she harasses me still on my blog.

One of my friends put out a call to find who still wanted to be on his friends list as he was cleaning out. That may be the way to go.

Betty said...

ytteB How's that???

Do you mean people are defriending you on Facebook or here?

Once in a blue moon I'll look and see who hasn't had a new post in a year or so and then I remove them from my reading list. I do not use Facebook and understand that some people get mad and defriend someone over there, but I can't imagine that happening to someone like you. If so, you didn't need them to begin with. With the blog I think people sometime realize it's becoming too time consuming and cut back on the blogs they read. Try not to take it personally. It's just the time of the year. Everyone is so busy.

If anyone is going to understand why you don't post or read as much anymore it's me! Real life just gets in the way sometimes.

It's hard to know why some will defriend. I've had it happen a few times, too. Maybe I'd forgotten them, unintentionally, of course. And again, I blame blogger for some crazy things that happen. I've lost people off my list that I know I put there. I rarely ever defriend, if someone stops coming to my blog and commenting over a long period of time, then I might.

You see I'm here at 1 am trying to catch up on commenting, so I totally understand when you are busy it is hard to keep up. I even have to take a blog break periodically.

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday and enjoy your visit with your family! Take care and if I don't talk to you before, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

You were de-friended on facebook? I think it's OK to be busy - just post when you can. I always like your blog.

Hi my sweet dear friend, Sandie,
This one is a great post full of feeling. I can understand what you are saying about blogging time, and bloggers' friends.
If you are a sensitive person, you are like me, because I am so very sensitive. I cry when someone de-friend me, or does not want to be my friend anylonger.
But, this is life. At times, life hurts pretty badly...
It happened to me many times that people de-friend me. It hurts me very much. What did I do to get that sort of punishment?...
Anyway, you can count on me as an everlasting Christian friend, whether I write once a week, once a month, or even once a year, but I always write back unless I am dead...
I do not use the computer the way I used to, because it hurts my eyes, my back, my legs. I get stiffness and pain sitting there all the time, so I do not post much the way I used to. But, I do not delete my blog, I do not de-friend anyone. I keep my blogs and my friends Online as long as Blogspot let me do it.
We should take time for ourselves, and give much of our time to our dear family, because life continues elsewhere apart from computers.
I see many children and young folks spend all their time looking at the computer screen or mobile phones. These sort of practices aren't healthy.
We need to play with our loved ones, talk to them, spend time with the ones we love.
The computer is only a device, it is not a person with feelings.
It is rather selfish just to spend time with computers, instead of spending good times with real people with good hearts.
Modern technology has driven the world to a mad world of things.
My grandparents were born around the 1880's. They did not have TV sets or radios back then.
Well, that is all for today, Sandie. I hope you have a great time with your dear family and beloved ones.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Thank you for your kind email!
I send all my loving on your way.
I love you with a friendship heart, my dear friend.
Please, count me as your forever friend. I am a good lady, a good friend, an everlasting one...
Warm Hugs & All the Best,
Starry.

Sandie dear,
My maternal grandmother, who lived with my parents and me, was a child with 14 siblings. Her parents did not have TV sets, no radios, no computers, nothing material, but their loving ways...
They were Europeans Artist Painters. They painted beautiful artwork, and spent time with their children too.
I learned lots of things from my dear maternal granny...

Hi hon. I have been been dropped as a friend many times but it doesn't bother me. Why? Because I don't let it. My reasoning is that it doesn't really matter. If I know I've not done anything to somebody and all of a sudden I'm not their friend, I don't wonder WHY they dropped me. I just remind myself of all the people I have in my life who enjoy having me there. If I have only one I'm fine. I've got you, right? LOL
Don't let it mess with your life, cause you to be sad or frustrated. Chances are you did nothing. AND you have plenty of people who do keep you in their life.
BIG HUGS ...much LOVE

I don't know about you but I have had several blogs in my list stop blogging so if I can I defriend them and I have had some leave. I do wonder if it is something I said but I can't let it bother me for sure.

You're excused, Sandie...with Thanksgiving breathing down your neck and turkeys running away and hiding from you; and then time spent trying to locate them; and then on top of that Christmas is rapidly growing close...time is of the essence.

It's that time of the year...again! So you are forgiven. :)

Sandie,
You are amazing-we are all in this life together-we all need to be kind and supportive! It almost seems ridiculous that if by a click of a button we can be defriended-if it is that easy, they weren't much of a friend to begin with!!
Love,
Jemma

De-friended where? On your blog? Facebook or in real life? Wherever it is it's sucks. I know the feeling. I've lost followers on my blog and it always feels like a slap in the face. :(

Marie said...

I'll never leave you! :) The same thing has happened to me recently. Oh well, feelings get hurt and we move on.
I'm going crazy here too! My house is listed for sell and I have to keep it spotless for showings. LOL since I have three dogs, one cat, three men in the house and now I may be keeping my grandma's little dog permanently, but she only weighs 5 lbs.. :)
Enjoy your time with your family! Your a special lady, happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
love & blessings,
Marie

Awwwwwww! Sweetie ... I don't have time to blog much at all, nor do I worry about the de-friending ... a true friend is there for the long haul. I am with you every single day, trust me. You bring such joy ... FB has to suffice for the moment. You are a wonderful true friend, forever.

Enjoy our son.

There are those that unsubscribe to my blog and I think it's just because they have so much coming in - it's all overwhelming - and there are seasons where life just gets so busy - and it's like a downhill snowball ride without breaks! We can each only do the best we can - and love the best we can. Sadly, I cannot be perfect either way! Wishing you blessing and peace in the next 30 days!!!!

I am guilty of not visiting others and and leaving comments lately. To much going on with babysitting and my mom. I try to visit when there is time, but there doesn't seem to be enough of it lately

Let me start with....ycatS.

Thanks for the smiles. That long hair is something else. I have the longest hair I've ever had in my life...something my mother insists is ridiculous at my advanced age of 49...but I don't think I'd like it THAT long. Mine reaches not quite to midback and it gets in the way at times. I would think that much hair would be in the way ALL the time.

I'm still with ya, kiddo, and don't plan to leave. You provide laughter to my day. I don't always get to respond or even visit all I want, but life goes on anyway, and still smile.

i think some people are in this blog business for other reasons than you or us...defriending doesn't mean they don't like you...they just want more comments and followers. don't take it personally. those who still follow will get their dose of funny when you have time to post, and that is good enough!!! hang in there.

It was not a site but it started with a comment and in my book got totally out of hand. That is my opinion only.In other words I think it is stupid and ridiculous about all the rotten things said because someone chose to use the phrase, Happy Holidays. Of course that someone was the president of the US and wife.I think a comment like that is totally acceptable out of any one. I may not like some of his ideas and I did not vote for him, but I respect that he is our president.

Love the dancing alien at the end! And everything else, including your words at the beginning. It's hard to do everything, I know. I tried and it just can't be done. I'm still here. I know you are still there. That's what friends do. They are there. Or here. Ann

Thanks Sandie for your comment. I would not mind either of your greetings. In fact I seldom said Happy Holidays when working in a small grocery. Very often my way so as not to offend any jewish or anyone was to say, I hope you have a great Christmas and a good New Year. Personally I would not care how they addressed me.

Hey Sandie!!
Hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! I'm playing catch up in blogging and in reading blogger friends. Had company all last week- my sister Sandy flew in from Louisiana and Mom from Florida. Mom just flew home yesterday!!
I have gotten very behind in reading blogs - but that's the way it goes!! I always read your blog since you always have something that'll make me laugh. Laughter is always GOOD!!
Just remember that your family comes first and you don't want this to become a chore but something you enjoy doing in visiting your hundreds of blogging friends. They/We understand -
Take it easy and God Bless you and your family!!

I totally get it about being too busy to keep up, Sandie. I think people do understand. I sure hope so, because my blogging and my commenting and even answering comments has been so sporadic! I'm sorry too that I can't do it all every day, but it's just not possible. So we still love you and don't worry. We'll be here. Hope life settles down for you a bit. It does get pretty hectic at times. XXOO

Hi Sandie,
I visit you this day to let you know that I think of you, I care for you, so I send all my loving on your way.
I realize that I have stopped blogging, because I just do not have the time for doing it, but I still read my friends' blogs, write comments and emails to my friends. Anyway, my blogs will remain online for those who care to read my posts.
Sandie, enjoy doing other things that bring joy to your wonderful heart! We all love you, Sandie.

I'm with Kim! I have supported some of the HUGE blogs and those people never acknowledge you! It is hard working full time to answer each individual person but I always comment on my post so they know how much I do care. I like the friendship aspect of blogging more than I like getting hits! You are popular because you are so kind!Do what you can and know we care whether you personally comment or not! I think you and I have talked about this before! LOL! You are awesome! Take care and no stressing or you will have to eat lots of chocolate to calm down! HaHaHa! Hugs Anne
