A childlike heart - and a vent

Okay okay - I have a couple of vents. Yes - even Chatty vents!

I have a blogger friend who got kind of a mean reply to her blog. I think it hurt her feelings. Why do things like this happen?

Like Thumper's mother said, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."

This is my thought - most of us - we're struggling to find answers in life. We struggled as children, as young adults, as young wives, as mothers, and some of us as grandmothers.

We want to do something fun. To talk to others and become friends. Right?

Aren't we at the age where we want to be a WOW? Wild Older Women! As for me I've been judged enough - I want a place so share and be myself. If someone doesn't like my blog for that day, then leave or write that you disagree with me - I can handle that, but don't be mean spirited. And I know we are not - I just can't imagine who left it and why - because we are a wonderful group of woman here.

"The great man is he who does not lose his childlike heart."– Mencius

Imagination was given to us to compensate for what we are not; a sense of humor was given to us to console us for what we are. - Mark McGinnis

Another vent I have is this - if you are 'actively' sick - please stay home.

I went to church last week and we did the handshake of friendliness. The gal in front of me - was 'actively' sick. Her nose was red, liquid was coming out of her nose, and she had a wet Kleenex in her hand.

She turned around and shook my hand! I was appalled. I would never do that.

Right afterwards I walked out of the service - touched the door handle (probably spread it to others) - went to the bathroom to wash my hands. I wish I was more assertive to have said something, but I didn't. I get upset because some people when they get a cold - it stays as a cold - mine doesn't - mine goes into bronchitis and asthma - then I have to take antibiotics, and etc . . .

Do you have any vents you want to get rid of today? Any you want to share?

Write them down - make a copy - rip them up - then let them go.

Now this is kind of fitting today about judgements - that is what we do when we criticize others - right?

Happy Birthday Joan Of Arc - what an interesting woman! (Wikipedia).

She was killed because of unfair judgement.

"The people who came after her in the five centuries since her death tried to make everything of her: demonic fanatic, spiritual mystic, naive and tragically ill-used tool of the powerful, creator and icon of modern popular nationalism, adored heroine, saint. She insisted, even when threatened with torture and faced with death by fire, that she was guided by voices from God. Voices or no voices, her achievements leave anyone who knows her story shaking his head in amazed wonder."

Love,
Chatty

You need to wear exam gloves to church, then change them with everyone you shake hands with!!! Haha! And, the mean spirited comments? I've gotten some, left anonymously and I think it was by some jokers that go and read blogs for something entertaining to do, then think it is funny, because no one can come back and yell at them. Stupid people, not worth the effort to think about those dummies!

And if you are sick and have to be out in public or traveling in close quarters (planes, buses, etc), PLEASE cough or sneeze into your kleenex, sleeve, shoulder or scarf! On a flight a few weeks ago, a man old enough to know better was hacking and sneezing away a few rows behind me with no attempt to stop the spray. Is that where my Christmas cold came from?

I have never understood people who make mean comments. Unless someone is standing on my toes, I can overlook things they are saying or doing that I disagree with, and if I disagree often, it is probably time to visit elsewhere. I recently stopped visiting a blog that used to be fun and light, but the writer has gotten political and seems to be angry much of the time now. That isn't WOW at all, at least not for me.

Hey Chatty!

So far I haven't gotten any bad comments left on my blog. I have gotten a bad email for a distant relative about some family tree stuff I put up. I thought I would share my site with him and he jumped all over me. Said he had the copyright for an old picture I posted. I did not reply! My grand mother had that picture at her house! And I didn't get it from him I got it from another person! That goes to show you that he doesn't share his information with others. That is not a true genealogists!

I'm with you on the sick people at church or anywhere! I remember when I was pregnant with my first child. A lady stood up to give a testimony about how she was sick and had went to the doctor that day and he said that she had the strep throat but she didn't let the devil keep her from coming to church. I was about 5 people away from her! That burnt me up!

My thoughts are the devil knows that she is going to go to church come hell or high water! That is his way of spreading his love around to use innocent people! STAY HOME YOU SICKO!!!! That felt good!

I've got more thoughts on the subject but I'll spare you! lol

Hugs,
Angela

I know who you are talking about and I HATE when they hide behind "Anonymous" if you are going to leave the comment come out of hiding.

I won't let anonymous comments be left. If someone can't say it to your face(well sorta) then I don't want to hear it! I mean the world is harsh enough without some joker leaving a negative on your blog. Oh my! my own mini rant. And I also hate people who go out sick to church, work or wherever...spread the germs. Geesh!

I'm going to print this out and burn it!

Chatty My Dear...I so agree with you about the woman with the kleenex....UGH! When you are excreting body fluids (AKA GERMS) stay home!!!!!
I have been carrying hand sanitizer in my purse...in the car...about everywhere!
Ok...a vent I must share...my BIGGEST pet peeve for years...I have to get it out NOW...I will take your advice and write and rip later...but after years of working in a grocery store I can NOT stand it when there is a baby in the front of the cart with their mouth on the push bar! It drove me crazy ( I am so sorry for ranting here Sandie) but without saying anything to the Mom...I would just look at that poor germ invested baby and say "YUMMY????" Got my point across plenty of times!

My thoughts too are with you on the NASTY comments left for folks...I hope I never do it!
I once was teasing at the blog of my dear friend Penniwig...she knew it...most of her regulars know what fun we have there...but I got a VERY nasty e-mail....And I decided to just prayer for the person instead of getting mad!
Hugs girlfriend!

Chatty, such a good post today. I never go to church WITHOUT hand sanitizer. I use it during service, IF I have to blow my own nose, and after any hand shaking ritual. Call me a germaphobe, but I wasn't able to get any flu shot. None were available in our area for some reason. I tried and tried, and called the county health dept., CVS, and local doc. NOTHING.
Anyhoo....blogs are for fun.
Sharing, networking, swapping ideas, tips, recipes and funny experiences. I love blogging, and reading blogs.
It opened my world up. I found you via blogging. Met you in person, which was a delight! I love our little bloggie gang of gals!
Mean people should just curl up into a cocoon and nasty themselves silly....alone!

I so agree with you about going out while your sick. I sat in church Sunday morning listening to so many people coughing. By that afternoon I had chills and couldn't do anything but sneeze. Needless to say I stayed home that night.
As for as negative comments, what's even worse is when they leave them anonomously. Like they don't have the guts to say who they are. I haven't had any harsh comments but I don't accept anonomous maybe that's why.

You would think that with the H1N1 they would give this handshake sign of peace up. I think I would like to just wave or make the sign of the cross like a blessing done by the priest. I NEVER touch the bathroom door after washing my hands. I open it with the paper towel I dry my hands with. Yes I have a germ phobia. Hubby says I should live in a bubble during the winter:) Why look for germs?

Hi, Sandie!

You hit on one of my pet peeves. I don't like for people to sneeze on me when they are sick because I can't take antibiotics. So I do truly understand.

And I try hard to watch what comes out of my mouth because you can't take it back, no matter how much you apologize.

So, yes, friend, I agree!

Sheila :-)

I have to agree, if you don't agree with my post simply move on to the next one or say very nicely I don't agree, but we all have a right to our opinion. There is no need to get nasty. I prefer to move on, if I don't agree with a post. I made the mistake of commenting on a post, that I really didn't agree with the opinion, nothing more, didn't even give my opinion and she went off on me like white on rice...she got very ugly calling me names. From then on I decided to just move on and come back another day. There is no reason in the world to get ugly to a person on their own blog.
We really have to watch now a days with so much sickness going around. I can understand how you feel, my DH goes through the same thing with his respiratory problems.
Hope you have a blessed day.

You're talking about two different kinds of sick people here! anonymous mean-spirited commentators are not well mentally.

And anyone who is physically sick to the point your described should stay home from *everywhere*

I'm just so glad that I found out how to delete other's comments that are left on my blogs. I haven't had any mean spirited things really, but I've had some "advertisements" left and I don't like that, so I just delete them.

That bit about going out sick reminded me of what used to tick me off and that was when parents would send their very sick children to school. The poor babies would feel awful, and usually end up passing on their germs to a lot of others too!

My other pet peeve is people that wear very heavy perfume or that blow their smoke all over other people. I think that what bothers me the most is that some of us with asthma problems can get VERY SICK with just one good lung full, but these probably don't even think about what they are doing because they don't have the problem, so I've learned to just try to avoid them after the first whiff.

I don't like cranky pants people!
I agree with Thumper!
