My little bride . . .

This cute little Siamese Cat (in her dance recital) is getting married in May. She is about the age my grandson is now, maybe a year younger.
Where does the time go? It went in a blink of an eye. You think when you're young and raising your children (at times) that it will last forever - and now in a blink - it's gone. I never dreamed back then, in Chicago, that I'd be where I am today.
You never know where life is going to take you or when it will change. You can be sailing steady in one direction and then all of a sudden without any notice the wind changes either speed or direction. And you know, you can't change the wind. Oh you may fight it for awhile, but you either have to learn to blow with the wind or be windblown and tossed around.
I'm doing better with the 'thoughts' of the upcoming events in my life, at least I feel like I'm able to deep breathe a tiny bit better (at first I felt like I had the wind knocked out of me and I couldn't breathe - even though I saw the events unfold right in front of my eyes). It's going to be hard, but I'm beginning to feel now, that I can do it. So much at one time to take in. I'm talking about finally after 35 years becoming an empty nester.

Empty nest...that's the scary part isn't it?
It hits me too how fast "it" all went...just a blink of an eye and those darn kids had grown up and left home.
I still hate that. It hits hardest at holiday time when they have other places to go or there are too many miles between us to get together.
When the kids leave, it changes everything. But, it opens doors to other opportunities too.
Life is so darn hard sometimes.
All we can do truly is to go with the flow.

I have 2 daughters 5 and 11.
My wife came to me to tell me that soon we will need a training bra.
At 11? I almost cry.
I feel your pain.
