A new perspective . . . starting on the yellow brick road . . .

Climb up on some hill at sunrise. Everybody needs perspective once in a while, and you'll find it there. - Robb Sagendorph

Well I admit I have been in a depressed mood myself these past few weeks. That's one reason I spend so much time finding positive ideas and quotes. I think that's the secret to life. If you feel depressed try to think about and look for the positives. Sometimes that when you get into a funk your whole body and soul can be taken over with it - I've got my first cold in four years!

Some times you just have to say to yourself - STOP! - then make a concerted effort to do other things. Talk to friends, journal, read positive blogs, say positive things to your self over and over again, make a decision to be happy, keep busy, laugh, do things for others, look at nature, plant in the soil . . . in other words . . . climb the hill and get a new perspective . . . even if its hard to do at that particular moment.

So I have made a decision to do this and move forward. My grandson and I are going to go to Wally World today and pick up some dirt and seeds to do some planting. Then on to the bird store to buy a birdhouse for the deck - close to the house - and some bird seed so we can watch them up close and personal. We have two bird feeders way out in the back yard, but we can't watch them up close and personal from there. This is going to be the only type of pets we can have! I'm babysitting the next three days for my daughter. Tomorrow I think we'll go see the Disney movie Earth. Thursday I'm not sure what we will do yet.

So here I go with my buddy - down the yellow brick road - getting a new perspective.

You're on the right path!
I put a bird feeder right about 6 ft. away from where I sit at the computer...it's loaded with bird activity, and is soothing to watch.
Outside the bathroom window, a crazy robin made a nest in a wicker thingie, and there are 3 baby robins in it...mouths open constantly.
Nature heals us.
You go girl....make yourself feel better!!

Argh! I have the opposite inclination. If I feel depressed, I don't try to "get happy" or "think happy" -- I try to think of WHY I am unhappy. Most people won't tell themselves why they are unhappy. They hide their true feelings, even from themselves, for fear they are not "right" feelings. ROT!

Once I know why I am unhappy, I decide to either change it or live with it.

This doesn't work for those with clinical depression, of course. Those poor souls are "down" for no reason except really bad luck with brain chemistry.

Found my way here from Penniwig's. My whole blog is one way to stay cheerful this sometimes very uncheerful world. I like pugs, too, and unfortunately am also allergic.

If you can develop a new interest, that will surely help cheer you up!!! Get a hobby! Buy a chicken! I think the bird feeder up close will help - but put it somewhere where you don't mind cleaning up the seed hulls! I have one outside my kitchen window with a big 'baffle' to keep squirrels and raccoons off it. Some squirrels still leap from the Sassafras tree near it - we have Leaping Lena who nearly always makes it to the feeder roof! For the others, we have the 'Twirl a Squirrel' corn cob feeder! That is fun to see how agile those squirrels are!!! Wish I could stretch upside down like they do, and whirl in a circle! (Mr. Wonderful might enjoy that, as well!) Take care!
