"Life is lived forward, but understood backward. It is not until we are down the road and we stand on the mountain looking back through the valley that we can appreciate the terrain God has allowed us to scale.” Jill Savage

Alaska, Jung, Spirituality, and Midlife Centering (lol)

WELCOME TO ALASKA

From Daily Celebrations-

"Learn your theories as well as you can, but put them aside when you touch the miracle of a living soul." ~ Carl Jung

With his personal midlife crisis, Jung claimed to commit "egocide," the state in which the false self dies and the true self is born. He found meaning through self-realization. Jung termed this the process of becoming whole. (He never said it was easy - lol).

"The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play of instinct acting from inner necessity. "The pendulum of the mind," he said, "oscillates between sense and nonsense, not between right and wrong."

Jung believed that spirituality was the core of mental health.

Can you tell my mind has been wheeling and dealing and running around this week? I guess it's some kind of growth going on inside myself. I am so happy and yet sad at the same time.

Ziggy once sad - "How can out your joyous of joys, turn into our saddest of sads?" I know I felt that at times when the kids where growing up and at some other times in my life. Guess I'm feeling sad about leaving Alaska and all it represented to me. I miss Alaska.

But, I am dealing with it . . . any way to continue on with the downtown shopping area . . .

BEAR IN THE MIDDLE OF DOWNTOWN ALASKA (lol)

Did you know that, "The majority of men (and women) live without being thoroughly conscious that they are spiritual beings." (Soren Kierkegaard)

A HOT DOG VENDOR DOWNTOWN ALASKA

They had Reindeer Dogs - now I did taste reindeer sausage in my spirit of trying new things and I must say it didn't taste any different. Now I am from Chicago - so I love Chicago Dogs - mustard, relish, onions, one long pickle, tomato, sport pepper, and celery salt - we now have a good one here in Georgia called Chicago Delights.

Alaska lesson for the day- Wikipedia
/əˈlæskə/ (help·info)) is the largest state of the United States of America by area; it is situated in the northwest extremity of the North American continent, with Canada to the east, the Arctic Ocean to the north, and the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, with Russia further west across the Bering Strait. Approximately half of Alaska's 683,478 residents reside within the Anchorage metropolitan area. As of 2007, Alaska remains the least densely populated state.

I believe it is at least twice the size of Texas. And Anchorage is right on the ocean. No sandy beach that I saw that reminded me of Florida, but a more gray colored beach.

So if your interested in beautiful scenery with fewer people and don't mind being far far away - then Alaska is the place for you. It is beautiful.

Thinking of my grandson here and in a lot of pictures - can you tell?

Alaska is almost 600K square miles, much larger than Texas. However, not much of Alaska can be used for homes or human activity (thank goodness).

So enjoying re-visiting Alaska with you. I enjoyed my trip so much that I had a poster made and it hangs on my office wall, so it's near to me all day.

A poster is a great idea. When did you go, where did you go, and how long did you stay?
Didn't you just love it?
If you have anything to add - please do!
Would love to hear others take on it.
