I sat next to a very strange man (I thought). He was huge - not heavy - he must have been a body builder and I felt like he just took over and managed the entire space. I was really getting anxious. All sorts of thoughts were going on in my mind - or what I felt I had left of it (lol). I surely wondered at this point what the heck I was doing flying to Alaska.
I stayed at the Sheraton in Anchorage for two days. It was a beautiful hotel - now this wasn't my picture - I forgot to take one - but you can see in the picture it looked like there was some darkness - my trip was in complete daylight. I don't think I remember seeing their lights on at the Sheraton.
The downtown area had lots of souvenir shops which I did most of my shopping at. I wanted to get it out of the way so that I could start feeling and thinking about Alaska.

Gracious, what a LONG flight to Alaska! But worth it! I think many of us feel "why'd we do this, uh-oh" when traveling -- during the first leg of a trip, anyway. Then we get our "sea legs" so to speak and those anxious feelings abate somewhat!
You are absolutely right!
So enjoying reading about your trip. Visited Alaska last summer and don't think I've ever seen more beautiful scenery.
I'm glad your back home from your sad trip.
Did going to Alaska change your life in any way? Do you want to go back? It did mine and I do.
Am ready to enjoy reading about your trip. Your pics are wonderful.Hope you have more installments, this was a trip to be remembered~
Waiting for the next installment!!! In the news last night, there was a story about a ship that came in from Alaska with a whale impaled on it. The company expressed regret that it happened....but what can you do after the fact?
That is a long flight, wowzers. A dear friend of ours has an elderly sister that lives in Alaska, and she cannot...CANNOT get her to move closer to her (in Texas). She adores Alaska, and I can't wait to hear more. ;)

It seemed that a lot of people who now live in Alaska went out for a visit - fell in love - came home -sold as much of their belongings as possible - and moved back!
Now, about the whale and ship - I did not hear about it yet - however, this is what I know from being there - the people of Alaska value their animals and wild life more than anyone - so I am sure it was a sad accident for the ship line.
Did you know whales have two brains - and they turn off one to go to sleep - they don't have to jump in and out of the water as much - maybe he was asleep and the captain didn't see him. . ..
Sad though.
