Cartoon Network

DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR CHILDREN ARE WATCHING ON TELEVISION?

I usually go to a movie with my daughter on Sundays. Andy goes to his dad's and we have a girls day out. Now the first time I saw this new commercial - I hated it. And the next I saw it, I hated it even more. And so forth.

This is a vile commercial that's reaching our children and teenagers . When we bring Andy to a movie this commercial is shown to the little kids as well and he (thinks) he can't wait to see the fall line up. Now we don't let him watch Cartoon Network anyway - unless there is a Scooby Doo movie on it or Ben Ten show on - so I don't know why he's that excited. Whenever we let him watch things like Pokemon, Bakugon, and so forth his personality turns kind of mean and ugly. He affects him. Just like scary movies affect me - I don't watch them. So we monitor the television. At times he sneaks it on - so I went and put a parental control on it. Sorry buddy - it is because I love you.

They are cartoons that teach disrespect, violence, and bad attitudes. Apparently kids aren't disrespectful enough apparently because they're going to add 'reality' television to there line up as. And not so nice ones. I think it's kind of like mind control.

The young man (?) who is singing - plays his guitar and both he and the guitar are PAINFUL to listen to. He's literally screaming at the kids. They are flashing different shows on the screen for the kids to see so that they'll beg their parents to watch it or turn it on themselves.

Has anybody seen this ad campaign? Do you feel the same? Does any adult out there like Cartoon Network? Do you let your kids watch it? Have you watched it WITH them?

BE CAREFUL WHAT THEY WATCH AND GET BRAINWASHED WITH ON TELEVISION - THEY MAY END UP ON BIG BROTHER SOMEDAY - AND WILL SHOW THE WORLD WHAT THEY LEARNED IN THEIR LIFE!

Do these expressions seem happy to you?

I had trouble with many programs when my boys were small - I would not let them watch Ren and Stimpy, or other such cartoons, but my now x-husband would 'okay' it and would scream at me (in front of the boys) at how stupid I was being by monitoring what they viewed at home! What did his behavior teach those boys, you wonder?? Let me tell you, they were pleased that they 'won' back then. But when they grew up, they realized who was the more loving parent, and they place controls on what their own children are allowed to watch or do. I guess the arguments and belittling weren't for 'nothing'....

Well, this isn't just for Christians. I don't watch any TV. Any movies. Ever. No one on our path watches them. As a former teacher, I can tell you that the kids who do watch TV, especially a lot of TV (basically every kid), DO get mean, surly, crappy attitudes, totally unrealistic attitudes. And guess what? I think adults are poisoned by TV too. POISONED.

CC- I'm sorry you ever had to go throough something like that - you know I do understand. I'm so proud of you and how you held your ground and you turned into an amazingly strong woman and now you have Mr. WOnderful too.

ODP-

You're right it's not just for Christians - it's for anyone who cares how their kids grow up and what they grow up into!

And themselves!

I don't care for the cartoons on the cartoon network... I'm very particular what I let Steffie watch. She mostly watches Noggin or PBS... sometime Nickelodeon.... I keep my tv on Noggin so if she turns it on that's what she sees. I like for her tv viewing to have some educational value... and I don't like for her to watch shows with villans in them... she's just too young to have to deal with that.

Most anything we watch we save for when she's in bed... she doesn't need to see my paranormal shows at this age... or anything with violence or other adult themes... there's plenty of time for that when she's old enough.

I left you some love over on my blog! Have a great week :)

What I've noticed over the years is that when "we" were kids, cartoons were drawn in circular forms, everything was rounded, and it was good, clean fun. Now, everything is spiky, abstract and awful, with no good message at all except that it's ok to get everything you want, and get it now, and not ever have to suffer a consequence, or listen to a parent, or ever help at home without being paid dearly for any kindness shown to anyone in the family. I'll stop...it goes on and on. TV sucks these days, and that's the truth!!

Thanks for your little gift of love on your Blog. I can tell you are a sweetheart too.

My kids watched Sesame growing up and I watched it with them! I loved it too. Hey they grew up and became useful citizens.

The problem is you can control it when they are younger - it gets harder as they age.

CDMama-
Right on sista! The cartoons have changed shape. The news ones are really angry looking and you should see what is coming! Sad.

Yeah!!! So many kids will get the chance to grow up and miss these shows!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys are awesome.
