Babies in your 50's - NO WAY!

We have a new temporary entrance and exit - school's on today in Cobb County - except for Clarkdale Elementary - totally flooded and kids are displaced. Sad - everything in the total school ruined - from computers to teacher's lesson plans.

Linda McCartney was born this day in 1941. Her maiden name was Eastman - I always that she was rich from Eastman Kodak, but when I read it was Linder department stores - her mother's side. I wrote about her today because I think she and Paul had a truly fabulous marriage. I heard him say they never spent one night a part. I was so impressed - not many marriages out there like that. Breast cancer claimed her.

Again from another magazine I read about the stories of about 5 women who had children in their 50's and one at age 61. I can't think of many more things I'd rather not be doing then having a baby at age 56! Two of them had twins.

Now am I dumb or what, but is that possible? Yikes. Well, it is possible. I learned this last Saturday night - had a girls (?) night out. Let me set the stage here:

There were four of us. One of the women in the group is moving back to Ohio this weekend so we partied a little bit - a glass of wine - okay we're not big drinkers. Two of them were women in their 30's who had graduated medical school and were waiting to hear from residencies, one had just turned 50 (a PHD), and me the oldest at 56 - smart, but not like these academic gals.

Anyway we had some girlie girl talk and some lessons were given and I gained some new knowledge. You're never to old to learn I guess. Man have I been out somewhere because things have sure changed.

So yes, women in their later years can have children - naturally - if you think taking hormones to keep one 'going' is natural. They said extra hormones can cause brain tumors in some cases. So no thanks. I said I was smart - no more kids for me!

Then they read magazine articles that had some pretty interesting information in them - so I got some lessons in the ways of the world. Ladies, we found out that chocolate is good for a lot of things . . . personally I think it tastes good and makes me feel good . . .

Also took a stab at some tests and tried to answer the questions. (LOL)

Then we talked about the song below - Getting You Home by Chris Young - what girl wouldn't like that song?

They were all single except me, but we had a good time. Unusual, but good.

So tell me - would you want to have children now?

No more for me, thanks! I had 2 boys, exactly the number of children I wanted. Right now I'm too old and decrepit to handle any more activity! Actually, I would enjoy more time with my grand kids, but they live in different states, so that is not possible. I enjoy life with my hubby and pets, and right now, that is the best life for me!!!

Even though I've always wanted a child -- never did -- I don't think I could take on children now. But I sure would like to be a grandma/stepgrandma. That would be just fine -- and an answer to prayer.

Lots of kids need grandmas who don't have them nearby or at all. I hope that for you too Buttercup.
