My recipe for the most delicious turkey in the world.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING...........Here is a recipe I thought you would like for the holidays -

Ingredients:

1 whole turkey
1 large lemon, cut into halves
salt and pepper to taste
butter or olive oil, whichever you prefer

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Rub butter or oil over the skin of the turkey until it is completely coated.

Sprinkle with salt and pepper and any other seasonings you prefer.

Take a knife and gently separate the skin from the breast meat;

Slide lemon halves under the skin with the peel side up, one on each side. This way the juice from the lemon will release into the breasts.

Cover and bake for 30-45 minutes. Remove cover and continue to roast until juices run clear, basting every 15-20 minutes.

If you've followed these steps correctly, your turkey should look like the one in the picture.

Bon Appetit!

Chatty Childs (lol)

Happy Birthday Carrie Nation - Wikipedia -

Carrie A. Nation was a member of the temperance movement—which opposed alcohol in pre-Prohibition America—particularly noted for promoting her viewpoint through vandalism. On many occasions, Nation would enter an alcohol-serving establishment and attack the bar with a hatchet. She has been the topic of numerous books, articles and even a 1966 opera by Douglas Moore, first performed at the University of Kansas.

Nation was a large woman nearly 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds.

A real cutie -

Man, I'd sure listen to her!

Love,
Chatty

If your turkey isn't the most delicious in the world - let me know.

Thank you for your visiting English Cottage and leaving your comment. Decisions were made as far as staying home, but a lack of decision by my sister in law is leaving me up in the air concerning Thanksgiving.
I will certainly try your turkey recipe, but am not too sure I want my turkey to have so much "personality". :-)

Hey Chatty!

I did a happy dance at WalMart yesterday when I actually found fresh sage for my turkey! I hope no one took a picture of me and put it on www.peopleofwalmart.com lol Two years ago I made a sage butter rub and put in under the skin like Tyler Florence did on one of his shows. It was the best turkey we have ever had! Couldn't find the sage last year but I did this year!!!!! Happy Dance!!!!!

Ms. Nation was a skinny lady to weigh only 175 with the height of 6 feet tall! She sounds like she was a tough old bird! hehehe

Hope you have a Great Thanksgiving!

I have to agree with what Angela said that Carrie Nation was skinny if she was 6 feet tall and weighed 175 pounds, however, for that time I'm sure she was "large". interesting facts you always share; its enjoyable to learn something when I come to your blog :)

loved the turkey recipe and picture :)

I think our turkey this year will have a lot less "personality." Wishes to you for a wonderful day.
