Something to think about. . .

My sister has a brother - who is not biological to me - long story, but he's still my brother. He's in high school. He has a teacher that requires them to journal and they give him certain questions to write about. Here are two:

If by having a 2 inch by 2 inch tattoo, you could save 5 lives & prevent a terrorist attack, would you do so? If you were allowed to select the location & design, where would you have it & what would the design be?

For $20,000 would you not bathe, wash, or brush your teeth for 3 months? Assume you could not tell anyone.

1. I would have the word 'Breathe' tattooed on me.

2. Yes, but I'd be using lots of perfume and deodorant and mouthwash! They didn't say you couldn't.

This is thinking Saturday so tell me what you think -
Love,
Sandie

PS They didn't say you couldn't go swimming or using hot tubs - there is always a way around the mountain if you can't go through it!

I Believe...
That just because two people argue, that doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue, that doesn't mean they do love each other.

I Believe...
That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I Believe...
That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

I Believe...
That no matter how good a friend is,they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I Believe...
That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.

I Believe...
That you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life..

I Believe...
That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I Believe...
That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I Believe...
That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I Believe...
That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I Believe...
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I Believe...
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I Believe...
That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I Believe...
That my best friend and I can do anything, or nothing, and have the best time.

I Believe....
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

I Believe...
That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had,and what you've learned from them....and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I Believe...
That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I Believe...
That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I Believe...
That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are,but we are responsible for who we become.

I Believe...
That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.

I Believe...
Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

I Believe...
That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

I Believe...
That even when you think you have no more to give, if a friend cries out to you...you will find the strength to help.

I Believe...
That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I Believe...
That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

I Believe....
That you should send this to all of the people that you believe in. I just did.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything.

I am thankful for all the wonderful people who help us throughout the journey of life...

Happy Birthday to Franklin D. Roosevelt

On March 17, 1905, Roosevelt married Eleanor despite the fierce resistance of his mother. Eleanor's uncle, Theodore Roosevelt, stood in at the wedding for Eleanor's deceased father Elliott. The young couple moved into Springwood, his family's estate, where FDR's mother became a frequent house guest, much to Eleanor's chagrin. As for their personal lives, Franklin was a charismatic, handsome, and socially active man. In contrast, Eleanor was shy and disliked social life, and at first stayed at home to raise their children. Although Eleanor disliked sex, and considered it "an ordeal to be endured," they had six children, the first four in rapid succession.

Now how do they know that inquiring minds want to know.

Hey Sandie!

I'm so glad I'm not in high school! But it gives me great grief that my kids still have years before they are there and I don't want to have to help with homework like that! lol My daughter had to draw a coat of arms the other day. She had to draw what she was good at in one picture, what she likes to do in another and something else in another. They make her write a story using the spelling words which wouldn't be to bad but they have to be used in the order that they are in the book! That was really hard to do the other night! The story has to make some kind of sense! I started helping and then her daddy finished it up! lol The teachers should know it's the parents who end up doing some of it! lol

Hugs,
Angela

Good list of "I Believes" Sandie. The one I liked best was the right to be angry but being angry doesn't mean you can be cruel. That was good. Thanks for sharing! Have a great day. Sincerely, Susan from writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com

interesting questions for the teens to think about and write about.

My tattoo would be "Jesus" on the underside of my wrist because only Jesus can save so he would be the one saving those 5 lives, not me

and nope, not for $20,000; not even being able to swim or go into a hot tub. Nope, like my daily shower, like to feel clean that way. Now for 20 million, that might be different :)

Hi Sandi
Thank you for sharing the I believe list. There were so many that were my favorite. What a wonderful topic. I really loved the one about making friends even if your far apart.
I think I would do the tatoo, i wonder what word I would choose.
Maybe "imagine".

food for thought here for sure! I liked the list; it's good to make your own belief list and gratitude list in your mind even if not on paper.
NPR had a great series called "this I believe" where people from all walks of life made short tapes of ther innermost beliefs. I really enjoyed listening to those.

I love that your brother's teacher puts out thought provoking questions! What word did he choose?
