Want to learn a new way to peel potatoes?

Saturday meditations - or something to think about . . .

THIS VIDEO IS GOING TO BLOW YOUR MIND - ANOTHER WAY TO PEEL POTATOES

Abraham Lincoln - I heard a saying - (this is not the exact quote) - it goes something like this - Abraham Lincoln needs six hours to cut down a tree - 4 to prepare the axe and 2 to cut it down. Most people go right out and try to cut the tree down with no success.

This is a huge lesson and I'm trying to share it (lol) with my grandson. You have to do a little preparation before you just jump in . . . after all . . .

If you aren't going to go all the way, why go at all? - Joe Namath

"Be true to yourselves and be useful to the journey." ~ Sidney Poitier Happy Birthday

Happy BIrthday Sidney Poitier - I really like this man.

In 1963, Poitier became the first black person to win an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in Lilies of the Field. The significance of this achievement was later bolstered in 1967 when he starred in three well-received films—To Sir, with Love; In the Heat of the Night; and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner—making him the top box office star of that year. In 1999, the American Film Institute named Poitier among the Greatest Male Stars of All Time, ranking 22nd on the list of 25. (Wikipedia).

Aren't we always reinventing something. Now I have to learn to peel potatoes again after 60 years. Well guess I am never to old to learn new tricks. As long as I don't have to stand on my head. Have a fun day. Stella

Hey Sandie!

I watched the video last year and it really impressed me but it is hard to teach and old dog like me new tricks I guess because I never did try it! lol I don't know why not though. I do usually try different ways to cut an onion or garlic and little tips like that that I see on tv.

Hope the Sun is shining at your house today! It is at mine! :)

I have received this video before and that is how I cook my sweet potatoes all the time. Love it. Had fun at the shark exhibit yesterday and hope you did too. Can you believe how many people were packed into that place? I loved the fact that it was Will Call tickets so there was no line. Felt like a VIP:) I need to blog about it as a thank you for the free tickets.

Thanks for strolling by and leaving me such a nice note.

I've got to tell you a funny story....Recently I was next door visiting with my neighbor. I was telling her how I had seen a great video on an easier way to peel potatoes and all I could remember was Maryann from Gilligan's Island was the instructor. I'm so happy I found it here. Now I'll be able to share with my friend...who I'm sure when I told her thought menopause had completely taken over my last brain cell, LOL!!

Sweet wishes,
Sara

Lilies of the Field is one of Mike's absolute FAVORITE movies. We've probably watched it 30 times since we've been married (we have it on DVD--- originally on VHS) We even showed it on Movie Night at our church one time and so many of the young kids really liked it even if it WAS in Black & White! Sidney Poitier is one of my favorite actors... He just has such wonderfully friendly eyes!
