Saturday Meditations - or things to think about...

What if you gave someone a gift, and they neglected to thank you for it would you be likely to give them another?

How would you feel?

Would you keep giving this person gifts?

I think so many times we are given gifts and don;t even realize it. We are too busy. Some people don't want to see the gifts - their eyes are clouded. Some people look for the worst. Some people are overwhelmed. Some depressed. All sorts of reasons why we miss gifts.

Whether is be some as simple as seeing a flower bud to being a new grandma (no not yet).

It is about grit. Determination. Wanting to see the good in things. The hard work to clear your mind and not think negatively.

Do you think that life is kind of the same way?

Do you think life gives you gifts?

And what if you don't appreciate those gifts?

Do you think life just keeps on giving and giving?

Chatty just thinking today.

Love,
Sandie

My gift to you - I posted it also on the top of my blog - my wish for you all ~

This is the wish we should all have for each other: Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, rainbows to follow the clouds, laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm your heart, hugs when spirits sag, beauty for your eyes to see, friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe, confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth, Love to complete your life." ~ Author Unknown

What gift have you received today?

My gift today - I get up every morning at 5:30am. Today I got to sleep late! That was such a gift. I think everything will go better today with sleep.

What about you?

My gifts are still asleep upstairs...my husband who is my rock, always the same and knows me inside out..upside down! And our middle GRANDson Gavin who spends every Friday night with us, lover of bacon and Monopoly and golf cart rides. Lots to be thankful here on Granny Mountain...

I have been blessed with so many gifts I couldn't possibly name them all, but I am very thankful for them! I hope you have a great day! Glad you could sleep in. I could have, but I just woke up at 5:00 and that was it!

I thought you were going somewhere else with this when I first started reading it.
What do we do with the gift of salvation? God gave us the best gift of all His son. Have we thanked Him or do we just take it Him for granted? I could go on and on, maybe I just need to do a post one day.
Hope your having a blessed weekend!!!

As always, Sandie, a very thought-provoking post. Sadly, thankfulness is sorely lacking in our society today, as evidenced by the fact that Thanksgiving gets barely any mention while Christmas decorations have been up in stores for several weeks.

We are the "gimme gimme" society and fail to see or give thanks for how much we already have.

Have a wonderful day, my sweet friend.

Love,
Patti

Sandie what a sweet and thoughtful post. You and I talk about gratitude often and I try to always be aware of he gifts I am given in life. Yesterday it was spending time with my Honey on a beautiful day. Today I am grateful the sun is shining and I can spend some time outside enjoying the gorgeous colors.

I think that God does keep on giving, because he has endless forgiveness, even though we may carelessly overlook the beauty and gifts he sends our way! But people are often not of the same mind. It hurts when not thanked, and you don't want to do again. I do, though. Because no one is perfect and people are busy. I look all around me in amazement every day at all the wonderful beauty God has sent me and my wonderful husband and family. Just being able to get up and get around...so much to be thankful for. And for sure, being able to sleep late. And I just now I will beat anyone in a sleep race, 11:30 today!

Hi Sandie! Hope you are having a sumptuous Saturday. As for gifts and thank yous, I have to admit....I'm more apt to keep giving gifts to people who acknowledge them with thank yous...even verbal or written. But if someone just accepts the gift, with no acknowledgement, I'll think twice about gifting them again...or at least not too soon.

Today there were several gifts already....the gorgeous sun; a mini-rest in the backyard, basking in it; some precious time spent with my daughter; a birthday party at home for a resident teen; and, of course, Honey Cat snuggling up to me.

Your blog is a gift, as is the sweetness of blogging.

Ahhhh, so many gifts to be thankful for. Susan

Sometimes our gifts are so small and expected, like a sky so blue...we take it all for granted and don't think about the lack/loss of it until it doesn't appear one day.
Blessings/gifts are so plentiful if we look for them and acknowledge them. I've been extremely blessed, but age made me realize it. When younger, and busier...there were many things I didn't see! Am extremely thankful now for just about everything. This was a terrific think piece, thank you dear!

Very thinking blog today, Sandie! I think God gives us gifts every single day. The fact that we wake up every morning and breathe in fresh air is a gift, isn't it? Plus our senses, hearing, smelling, tasting, seeing, etc. All gifts! Plus there are the big gifts God gives us, our talents, our families, etc. I think we need to be so very thankful to him for the gifts he provides every single day!!

Sleeping in is always a wonderful gift!

Great post. My blog has helped me to focus on the gifts I've been given and keep giving. Not to be theological... but the more I focus on the gifts that G'd gives me the less selfish my nature can become. I hope to one day become a much more generous giver. Not equating myself with G'd, but hoping to take on more generous characteristics.

No matter what goes on in my life I'm always grateful knowing I can turn to my Lord to help me or just comfort me. Believe me there's been a lot of comforting going on lately!

Great post!

A simple thank you is well deserved if you ask me, but if someone close to me fails to acknowledge, I wouldn't stop giving....it makes me feel good inside.

Your post will really open some eyes. As for gifts of life...yes, each and every moment is a gift.

Gosh this was such an important question and everyone answered with their heart - thanks.

Joycee – that is a beautiful gift and one that keeps on giving! It is nice to know there are right upstairs.

Melanie - knowing and being thankful for all your gifts.

Thena - of course - that is the biggest gift of all - where would be be without that one?

A Hopeful Heart - you are right - we rush the holidays and we need to be thankful for the day we're in!

Linda - to appreciate our loved ones and the beauty of God's pallet.

Terry - that you can love others and take the time to tell them - even though your own life has been hard this year.

Ginny - you rat - 11:30 I made it to 8:30. Ah forgiveness - what a great gift. Again where would we be without it? And your loved ones.

Susan - you too have realized the simple gifts of life - the sun - relaxing - our children - your love of life.

Corgidogmama - a great one - the gift of the wisdom of age - yes aging isn't for sissies - but you see so many more gifts when you're older and appreciate things much more!

That Corgi - you are so right the five senses (actually there are 7) and believe it or not - we take these senses for granted - until you have a GS with sensory processing disorder - or you are blind or can't hear!

Deb - for new babies even though they chose to be late - he will be induced by the 16th. Thanks.

Buttercup - you have learned something very valuable with your blog - when you share blessings and look for the positive - you will realize just how blessed you really are.

Walking on Sunshine - comfort by God and others - and I know how you must need comfort when your hubby is away serving our country. That is another thing to be thankful for.

Just Be Real - someday as you age - you just might understand the past a little better. Your thinking mind!

Hootin Annie - You are so right - every moment is a gift - what a good way to end this.

I also feel everyone of you is a gift - love you all.
