I was fortunate enough to grow up in Northern Virginia, and we enjoyed many trips on the subway into D.C. on Saturdays, where we experienced all the museums and such. Fun times! :-)
My daughter is out there and I have "done" D.C. including the Capital, to the point that I fear I take it for granted. If one hasn't visited and seen our nation's capital, it is certainly a "must-do." I still haven't begin to see all that the Smithsonian has to offer...so there will be more trips. Hugs, Cheryl
I saw this recently and was just stunned at the information contained. Who knew about Thomas Jefferson since his behavior sometimes indicated otherwise, but I'm glad he instituted that church service. I think one reason we don't know these things is because this nation was founded primarily by people who adhered to the Judeo-Christian ethic. Hence, people took for granted that the same ethic would prevail in this nation with successive generations. Thanks for sharing this. I think it's important to know. :-)
We were raised and educated in a way that always included religion so this tour to me was not a surprise. It is and always will be my way of life! Thanks, Kiddo...:)JP
On the way to work this morning I listened to Charles Stanley speak about how God gives up hills and valleys ... so very true. He said that when we accept God we will actually look forward to the valleys because we will know God is always by our side. My heart sang because I knew it was so true. Blessings and thanks for always keeping in touch! Jennifer

Speaking from over here in England, that was, indeed, a lovely tour for me to have, and I did appreciate it. Hope you're having a good weekend.
It's interesting to see how far from its origins the government has gone in the name of 'political correctness'. Very thought provoking.

Wow, Sandie. I learned a lot. Didn't know any of those facts. Extremely interesting. Thanks so much for sharing. Susan
Well, so much for separaion of church and state! How come people don't know any of this?
ilove these words
"he who plants kindness gathers love.”
love
tweedles
This was so inspiring, and encouraging.
It's no secret that God loves Americans (just as He loves ALL people) - now if Americans would just return to their love of God!
I can think of no better statement to make as a country than "In God We Trust" -
Thanks for sharing this - it was great!
Wow - thanks. Glad to know you like Smokey Bones, they have awesome coupons but I have never tried it.
Have a good day Sandie. Blessings to you
