Quiz for People Who Know Everything
There are only nine questions.
This is a quiz for people who know everything!
I found out in a hurry that I didn't.
These are not trick questions.
They are straight questions with straight answers.
1. Name the one sport in which neither the spectators nor the participants know the score or the leader until the contest ends.
2. What famous North American landmark is constantly moving backward?
3. Of all vegetables, only two can live to produce on their own for several growing seasons. All other vegetables must be replanted every year. What are the only two perennial vegetables?
4. What fruit has its seeds on the outside?
5. In many liquor stores, you can buy pear brandy, with a real pear inside the bottle. The pear is whole and ripe, and the bottle is genuine; it hasn't been cut in any way. How did the pear get inside the bottle?
6. Only three words in standard English begin with the letters 'dw' and they are all common words. Name two of them.
7. There are 14 punctuation marks in English grammar. Can you name at least half of them?
8. Name the only vegetable or fruit that is never sold frozen, canned, processed, cooked, or in any other form except fresh.
9. Name 6 or more things that you can wear on your feet beginning with the letter 'S'.
Answers below.
What do you see in this picture?
EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 50
Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.
With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.
Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags.
Then try 50-lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.)
After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.
Thanks Marydon.
Love,
Chatty - Have a great TGIF!
Answers to questions above.
1.The one sport in which neither the spectators nor the participants know the score or the leader until the contest ends: Boxing.
2. North American landmark constantly moving backward: Niagara Falls .
(The rim is worn down about two and a half feet each year because of the millions of gallons of water that rush over it every minute.)
3. Only two vegetables that can live to produce on their own for several growing seasons: Asparagus and rhubarb.
4. The fruit with its seeds on the outside: Strawberry.
5. How did the pear get inside the brandy bottle? It grew inside the bottle.
The bottles are placed over pear buds when they are small, and are wired in place on the tree. The bottle is left in place for the entire growing season. When the pears are ripe, they are snipped off at the stems.
6. Three English words beginning with dw: Dwarf, dwell and dwindle...
7. Fourteen punctuation marks in English grammar: Period, comma, colon, semicolon, dash, hyphen, apostrophe, question mark, exclamation point, quotation mark, brackets, parenthesis, braces, and ellipses.
8. The only vegetable or fruit never sold frozen, canned, processed, cooked, or in any other form but fresh: Lettuce.
9. Six or more things you can wear on your feet beginning with 'S': Shoes, socks, sandals, sneakers, slippers, skis, skates, snowshoes, stockings, stilts.

I'm feeling pretty sharp this morning. I guess it helped to start later in the day.
As for the color test, it took me three tries to get 100%. The first time, I did NOT read the directions carefully even though you said to do that.
What does that say about me?
Never mind, I know...
that photo is gorgeous. i would be terrified to walk it though since i am afraid of water. need railings for me to walk on it. it fits our yellow thing for today also.
did not try the test, you know why. and a lot of those descriptions are great, the chicken one is gross and now i don't think i can eat another egg. ha ha
That's a lot of mental work this morning!
My husband sent that color test to me a couple months back. It was really hard...harder than you would think.
I like the list of words that should be in the dictionary. The skeleton definition was creepy, though.
Hope you have a great weekend. :)
Wow, you are strong! haha..
There is always so many, many things to enjoy and take with us from you post!! Have a wonderful day & beautiful weekend, Sandie!!
Hugs,
Coreen XOXO
Could not get that color quiz--no matter how hard I tried. Did somewhat better on the other quiz.
Really good mind improvers today!!! It took me three times to get the color test perfect!! Not bad for a gimped geezer!!! At least ONE part of my body works good!!!
Another fun post - I loved it!
4 tries. Of course the first time was zero because I didn't read the directions carefully - why do that? I know more than I thought, didn't come up with dwarf though got the other two and I guess dweeb isn't really a word....
As always fun, fun, fun. Ann
Got the color game on the second try...100%!!...:)JP
Sandie, these test really got the ole brain to stir, but I think I just clicked real fast on that color test,I did get 63% just by rapid clicks,I really didn't figure it out, though.I've never been good at these things, but I did see the three naked woman in Einsteins face, does that count, hehehehe.
Hey my friend have a great and glorious weekend.

Dang...now I have a brain ache!!! Heeehehe!!!
These were wonderful and a great exercise for the old brain cells this afternoon and the great giggles!!!
God bless ya and have a fantastic Friday!!! :o)
Color test - got 75% on first try, 100% on second - WOO HOO!
LOVED the new definitions - especially the chicken one. Don't know why - it was just a random "huh, that's truly interesting" that I enjoyed. However, it begged the question - which came first? The chicken or the egg? Hmmm...
I was able to answer #6, 7, and 9 - I guess I'm good at word stuff, but lousy on trivia.
I had trouble with the bags - even without the potatoes. Maybe I'll try some baggies next time...
xoxo
Hi Chatty,
I am back!!! I can't wait to spend sometime tonight reading through your latest posts and laughing with my husband over the phone. He flew out for Fairbanks this morning to be gone for two weeks. I can't think of a better way to spend our date night together with him so far away.
Oh, and yes, Alaska is just like every other state only a little bigger...a little darker... a little lighter (at some times of the year) and a little more wild life running around town. Otherwise, there's not much different. Except, I don't have to worry about putting on makeup every time I run to town.
Oh, and I totally forgot.
I saw Albert Einstein (isn't that Einstein? I'm no Einstein, but I think that's Einstein...) - but what's with the naked women????
Or was that a Rorschach test - and I'm just some poor sick deluded soul?
(Don't answer that...)
Greta brain joggers, thanks.
This was different and fun. Thanks!
I knew lettuce!! LOL! I'm going back to take the color test in a little while! Only taking a short break. Blessings ~ Tanna
I love the first one "I forget the words." Too true!
hugs, Cheryl
Wow my brain must be tired. Some real challenges there.
Great post Sandie. I felt ignorant as I couldn't answer too many of the questions. ha! The photo was lovely. I do not know how you can find so many interesting things. Take care. Susan

My Dear Sandie...Fun post! Feeling a little testy were you? Busy weekend ahead here...and now that I have been challenged I am ready for the world...bring it on! I got 99.9 on the last quiz... I'm a smarty girl when I put on my thinking cap....but still can not figure out my google thing! I'll explain later! Hugs!
That is a fun post, Sandie. I love love the picture, it made me dream away.
Have a loveliest of weekends! xxx
The P.S. from my last blog: "P.S. to Chatty Crone: I'm glad you and I are now celebrating Let Bygones Be Bygones Days. LOL!" (Sorry about the commotion. I just wasn't myself. RAgain, rest in peace, dear Ms. Taylor.)
Thanks as usual for the laughs and brainteasers Sandie! These are great today.
Catching up after being gone for a while.
I FEEL SMARTER ALREADY! YOU MAKE A GIRL WORK HER BRAIN HARD!
