Wednesday - Bump day oH I mean Hump day~

Chatty has been a bit frustrated the past few days. We went with my ten year old grandson to Ohio to visit my son and his family and 6 month old son. So I work hard at making some blogs and then I figure I'll have my lap top to read blogs and answer emails.

Well I didn't take a lot of things into account. One being blogger - I am a loyal person and I love blogger - but they have just been driving me nuts lately. And I'm not home and on a laptop with things going on all around me.

Now when my GS was asleep and my other GS went to the zoo - I read every one's blog. Do you think that I could comment nope - I found that if you had your comment form embedded and or your word verification on - I couldn't. I think a lot of bloggers had that issue.

If a word verification goes on for my blog - let me know. As of right now - anything blogger suspects is spam - gets held. There is a place under the comments to allow them or not.

You really don't have to have word verification on.

If I did not leave a comment - forgive me - I did try! I read them.

I had quite a few friends tell me to use foxfire as my browser - WOWSER - THEY WERE RIGHT! IT IS AWESOME - even spells checks your comments!

Now here is the funny thing - it was a Star Wars marathon for the boys - so they wanted the lights out. On the desk top they have an extra set of numbers on the right - and if you hold down the alt key and push 3 - you get a nice little heart ♥ - I was writing someone and since my lap top didn't have the numbers - Old Chatty thought (and this is my problem - thinking and doing what I think about) - I'd try to push the buttons on the top row - maybe that would do it - really couldn't see - but did it anyway.

A few minutes later - coincidence - my son's computer went out and mine. After doing what I could do I asked hubby to look. He tried for over an hour. Was just going to restore things, get rid of foxfire and everything - and my son (finally came and sat down beside him).

The computer kept saying enable the Internet to go on - well duh...now my son who doesn't know much about computers said, did you push this button dad - and dad says no - then I gulp - and say - well I did - they looked at me INCREDULOUSLY - like why did you do that - I tried to explain the heart theory - and to no avail. So son pushed the button and wallah - the computer turns on.

DID YOU KNOW THERE IS A SINGLE STINKING KEY THAT CAN KEEP YOUR COMPUTER OFF THE INTERNET????????????????

YES THERE IS!

And two more words of advice - if you trust me- I put on version 9 - I hate it. Tried to make me do things I did not want to do and if I didn't wouldn't cooperate. And google chrome - I think foxfire is better.

And you do not have to listen - just my experience and I know because all this went on this weekend.

Now while I was computer frustrated - I did have a good time with my son and his family.

My new grandson (pics tomorrow) is a cutie pie and a stinker. He rarely sleeps - SERIOUSLY - I didn't believe it until I saw it. Anyone have a baby like that?

♥♥♥

This quote is exactly where I thought I was this weekend - but instead of the bullring - I was in the computer ring. Some times you have to jump in - get dirty - let people get mad - and do it anyway - to find the answers. lol

It's not the same to talk of bulls as to be in the bullring." ~ Spanish Proverb

So my ever ringing motto is NEVER GIVE UP!

"Where is the university for courage?" El Cordobés asked. "The university for courage is to do what you believe in!"

I so agree with you about Internet Explorer 9. I downloaded it last week at the computer's suggestion, and I don't like it at all. it's given me a whole new task bar at the top which really takes some getting used to! I did laugh by you pressing those keys and making the internet go down. Hee Hee!! Can't wait to see that new little grandson of yours. I haven't had my word verification turned on for months now. Blogger really has been causing so much trouble over the past couple of weeks.

Tried to comment to you earlier but no could do. Glad you had a good time wth grandsons. Computers sure can cause a lot of stress!

Oh Sandie...ha ha ha ha ha That was actually a humorous column, despite the problems. I think EVERYBODY'S having blogger troubles these days.

Now I would have done just the exact same thing as you to try to get the heart...push...bam! GONEZO.

Take care and have a super day. Susan

Welcome to my world. I have a love/hate relationship with computers and all the new and ever changing technology. I wouldn't even know how to change to Foxfire, but I'll check with my sons.

So many people I've talked to this week have had problems with Blogger. I've used firefox a long time now. Maybe that's why I didn't have any problems. ??? Who knows!

Thena said...

Well that explains why there is some blogs I can't comment on. I'm also unable to post pics. Go figure, if it's blogspot I wish they would get it fixed.

I find there's nothing that makes me feel stupider than my computer! I'm glad you got your problems worked out.

I guess baby GS doesn't want to miss anything and waste time sleeping. Sure hope that phase passes fast.

I've been trying and trying to leave comments! Some I can, some I can't! Some people can leave them on my posts, some can't. I don't even know if this will go through! I did, however, find that if I link to the internet via Google Chrome, I could comment most times. Internet explorer is messing me up. I love/hate computers.

I'm glad you had a good trip and look forward to seeing pics! Ann

You are apparently one of "the chosen ones" who can receive my comments via internet explorer. Does that mean I must curtsey in your presence? Or will a slight inclination of the head be sufficient? As always you bring a smile to my face. Ann

you said it all and then some. i am picking up what you are putting down. ditto on all of this. blogger seems to be ok now, for a while. i love firefox and hate IE 9
well, i must say i don't LOVE Firefox, just that it is better and faster, it still has a few things i hate or can't find.
glad you enjoyed your 2 GS and are home safe. i did not know there was a button to push to keep off the internet. that is scary.
i have a love/hate relationship with my computer, kind of like marriage, can't live with and can't live without and we put up with the bad to have the good.

Sorry you have so many issues with blogger - I guess I missed that one again too (lucky me) ... I use Google Chrome and it spell checks all my typing (no matter where) as I type...I'm not going to switch unless I'm unhappy with it and thus far Google Chrome has done right by me. Sometimes I still use Internet Explorer, but not all the time.

Did you have a good time?

Ginny Hartzler said...

Well, I just held down alt and pushed 3, couldn't resist it, but nothing! Hey, at least I didn't shut the computer down! I got I.E. 9 awhile back, it was not good, wouldn't let me post blogs! Finally got Foxfire and I love it, love the spell check, too. Now I have both, one as a fallback. Hope you're having a really good time and that it's not almost 100 there like it is here!

My friends get tired of me saying this, but since we have Mac's--we just don't have any of the problems that Windows people have... I wouldn't go back to a Windows computer for anything in the world.

I do have Firefox and Safari and love them both... Sorry you have had such a rough time ---but I'm sure that you enjoyed being with your precious grands.

Hugs,
Betsy

I am wondering why I never have any problems leaving comments. I keep hearing that. I guess I needn't question good luck. Sorry about your frustration. I worry about something happening to my camera and me not being able to blog.

I switched to firefox a long time ago and like it a whole lot better. I'm with you on the word verification, I hate those things even more so on the embedded comments.
I always wondered how everyone got that cute little heart. I'll be sending little hearts to everyone now ♥ :)

I use Foxfire and love it but I cannot get the heart with the alt key and 3 no matter how I try....It is nice to have the laptop with us

Jeanie said...

Sorry about your computer problems, but I love hearing them because it makes me feel a little less lame. I did go to Google Chrome and things have been a little better as far as posting and commenting....we'll see.

Oh, I'm sorry, but your narrative re. "losing the net" had me laughing outloud! I can SO visualize myself in the same boat.
Can't wait to see pix of the baby!

you have had a time of it with computers/blogger/blogs haven't you Sandie? Yet you persisted!! I also found if when you sign into Blogger and they give you the option to stay signed on, don't. Unclick that box and it helps with allowing to comment.

can't wait to see the pictures of your young GS; I'm sure he is a cutie! Yes, I had a baby that wouldn't sleep; that's why I gained 50 pounds; I ate to stay awake.

I'm with you about word verification too; I don't have it and I rarely get spam; when I do, I just delete it. I wish they would do away with it!!

I'm glad you had fun with your grandson and about the rest?

I can relate!! I still don't know what key you're talking about that kept you off the internet, but I have had so many problems.

I also installed IE9 and didn't like it either. I have problems with firefox in that I can't see all the pictures on blogs.

I got so frustrated last week that I gave myself a break.

DaCraftyLady said...

loked your post, I have trouble all the time with Internet Explore, but can you download foxfire along with having IE too? will it cause a problem? Because right now I want to scream my computer is acting up too!!!! Blah!!! Debb

Sharon said...

Yes, sometimes I want to throw my laptop out the window! I have a Mac, with Safari - that's about the extent of what I know I'm talking about! I'm just blaming it all on Blogger - feels better that way...

And, in your honor, I finally pulled the trigger and eliminated my word verification thingie. Debbie had suggested doing it sooner, but I hesitated. But, I don't want to add to the aggravation out there in Blog Land! (However, between you and me - I hope some people keep it - the words crack me up!)

Your grandbaby never sleeps -- now his parents frustration has to be worse than yours (or mine) when we have computer problems ;>)....

We are on the road again and today is the first day for a week I've had good connection. I stayed off on purpsoe for a week while we were getting ready to go.
I'll catch up eventually; glad both your little ones are doing well -- and that you got to go visit the bebe!
