Hump Day

Okay it is Wednesday and it is Hump Day and Halloween is coming - right? And we all need a good laugh. My recipe is due too.

So . . .

Here it is:

Kitty Litter Cake - oh my!

READ THE INGREDIENTS AND STUFF FIRST AND THEN LOOK AT THE PHOTO...

TRUST ME...DON'T LOOK AT THE PHOTO FIRST, BUT LAST...

This is for all you cooks out there looking for something a little different.........

WANT TO HAVE FUN AT A HALLOWEEN PARTY?
PREPARE THIS RECIPE!
COMPLETELY EDIBLE, BUT YOUR FRIENDS MAY NOT THINK SO!

CAKE INGREDIENTS:

1 box spice or German chocolate cake mix
1 box of white cake mix
1 package white sandwich cookies
1 large package vanilla instant pudding mix
A few drops green food coloring
12 small Tootsie Rolls or equivalent

SERVING "DISHES AND UTENSILS:

1 NEW cat-litter box
1 NEW cat-litter box liner
1 NEW pooper scooper

DIRECTIONS:

1) Prepare and bake cake mixes, according to directions, in any size pan. Prepare pudding and chill. Crumble cookies in small batches in blender or food processor. Add a few drops of green food coloring to 1 cup of cookie crumbs. Mix with a fork or shake in a jar. Set aside.

2) When cakes are at room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with half of the remaining cookie crumbs and enough pudding to make the mixture moist but not soggy. Place liner in litter box and pour in mixture.

3) Unwrap 3 Tootsie Rolls and heat in a microwave until soft and pliable. Shape
the blunt ends into slightly curved point s. Repeat with three more rolls. Bury the rolls decoratively in the cake mixture. Sprinkle remaining white cookie crumbs over the mixture, then scatter green crumbs lightly over top.

4) Heat 5 more Tootsie Rolls until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with crumbs from the litter box. Heat the remaining Tootsie Roll until pliable an d hang it over the edge of the box .

Place box on a sheet of newspaper and serve with scooper. Enjoy!

As a cat owner, I can tell you that the cake is so realistic I don't think I could take a bite. Perfect for Halloween and kids (of all ages). :)

It takes a thoroughly twisted mind to come up with this. I understand. Ha.

That is such the perfect thing for my daughters that are giving a Halloween Party on Saturday. They also have cats and know I have a real phobia against the dreaded "cat box". What a laugh.

Cheri said...

That looks so real, Sandie. How funny. Are you going to make it or is that one yours?

That cake's fun AND gross! I'm sure your GS loved it! Happy Wednesday:@)

Okay, so you have finally topped yourself! As the one who scoops the litter in this house, I find this hysterical. I may wait and serve it at Thanksgiving! Ann

So just when did Halloween become all about turds? No, I will not make that cake! No, I would not eat that cake! No, no, no, no even under torture.

Ann said...

I've actually had that before. It does look pretty disgusting but kids love that kind of thing :)

Michaele said...

Don't think I could eat it. In fact, I am sure my brain would make up a foul smell. Sure of it. He can have it all.

Cheryl @ TFD said...

Oh my gosh, Sandie! LOL! If all cakes looked like this one, I wouldn't have any trouble turning them down! As the owner of a kitty and having to scoop often, I will have to pass on this one. I once saw a recipe similar to this one in a flower pot. The crumbled oreos were placed around the top to resemble potting soil and a clean silk flower was stuck in the center! They were placed on the tables as edible centerpieces.
Thanks for the laugh!

Yes, I'm sure a ten year old would love that cake! I had to laugh out loud when I saw the cartoon.

LOL, my stomach is churning, but a second greater will have the time of his life with his friends.

Angela said...

Yuck! There is just no way in this world that I would be able to eat that cake at all! I can't even stand the thoughts of eating the food version of dirt!

Hugs,
Angela

O.M.G.! ... You, first, Sandie :)
This reminds me of some of the offerings this week at AZ State Fair ... they were actually showing a maggot-melt grilled sandwich on this evening's news.

That cartoon is sooooo funny!

That is the funniest looking cake, Sandie! I can see that it would be a hit for boys in your GS' age group!

OH Sandie, I'm not sure I'm ready for that cake! Wouldn't want the young ones to get confused on what to do with the real thing! Funny though, very funny!
