Barns and buttons and blogger . . .

Hey y'all I'm back........... Ask and you shall receive...
DIRECTIONS FOR BLOG BUTTONS! Now there are no excuses - I want y'alls button on my blog here!

OKAY FRIENDS TO THE RESCUE - Remember I asked yesterday is any one could share how to do a blog button because there were about ten of you who were interested and wanted one but didn't know how.

Well thanks to - Betty from Day Dream World send this to me. you can do a blog button!

http://mommybits.net/2009/05/17/tutorial-creating-your-own-blog-button-w-code-box/

And Sush at First Do No Harm sent me a site with a blog tutorial on it. Thank you too!

http://cindyadkinswhimsicalmusings.blogspot.com/

And these directions are from Rhonda at The Joy of Denim and Lace:

I created a button with my PSP and saved it to Photobucket and then followed these instructions…good luck

< img border="0" alt="your blog name" src="HTML Code from your button on photobucket"/>

THANK YOU DEAR BETTY, SUSH, RHONDA! Check out their blogs too!

Please let me know if you make one so I can add it to my buttons!

BLOGGER QUESTION:

Now I have been reading on some gals blogs that come March there are big changes coming on blogger - that there might be no more blogger - that there will not be the Google Friend Share - has anyone heart that? Did I miss a notice of that somewhere?

See these two weeks Chatty's been thinkin' !

Barn Charms:

I have not joined barn charms - because in my area I really don't see many. I did see one recently I am going to go back and get a picture of. But being in the Monday Barn Charm Spirit I found something interesting about barns.

I hope you enjoy.

Now here is a good thought one - what do you think?

I hope the no more Blogger rumors are just that....rumors.

I'll check out the button links. I hope this blogger thing is just a bad rumor. What will we all do??

Hey - thanks for putting my button up. My friend Jannie made it for me.

I hope those rumors are not true. I am finally getting used to the "new" blogger format.

Oh, great. I hope Blogger doesn't disappear. I guess it's a wait and see thing. Loved the video.

I haven't heard that there won't be any more Blogger, but I did hear google friend connect is going away.

You need to join Google+ That is what they are going to instead of google friend connect.

This is my link on google plus and if you follow me, let me know and I will follow back.

No more blogging? I don't like that at all!

I was disappointed when they changed everything a while back. I was using Blogger In Draft and really liked it and then "poof" Blogger in Draft changed and I didn't like it a bit. I got out of Blogger In Draft then, but I think they might make everyone use the new version at some point. I do like it for putting photos in a post because they go exactly where I want them to, but I like the old dashboard better. I go back and forth. They changed gmail recently too and I clicked that I'd try it and now can't get back to the old version. I hate forced change. Why do they change everything??? What surprises me is that Blogger is free. Perhaps they'll charge at some point? I would think they'd do that before they'd dump it.

I think it's friend connect going away as they are encouraging folks to go to Google+. hugs, Linda

if you blog on Blogger (blogspot, which you do), you'll be able to keep GFC (at least for now!) it's only the blogs that use GFC on other platforms (like typepad or wordpress) that will lose it on 3/1. so i've heard/read.

but i'm sure that means that sooner or later, they'll make everyone switch to G+

I hope this rumor yoour hearing isn't true...but I do wonder how we have been given this gift for free...so I wouldn't be surprised if it comes to a end or they want to sell the space.

Starting Over, Accepting Changes - Maybe said...

I am very naive about all this blogger stuff. I use the simplest of forms, change only my header and occasionally add a picture here and there.

I checked out the Internet to see if blogger is disappearing and as I understand it, that is not the case. It is GFC that is (may be) disappearing and I am not even sure that I have that. Different sites give other options to use, but figuring them out (after reading about 15 or so explanations), made me just want to turn the whole thing off.

I think I will go eat a brownie now. I need some comfort food.

I'm going to check out the button instructions. I have heard anything about blogger going away - but will let you know if I do! And to answer your question - no. Not one calorie in a creme brulee! Ha-ha but once a week doesn't seem like a bad idea :) A girl's gotta be bad sometimes!

Thanks for this info! I was just wondering recently about how to make a blog button. Was going to ask my graphic designer son if he could do one for me. Perhaps now I can just do my own! You are a sweetheart! :)

DaCraftyLady said...

Oh thank you for the instructions beacuse I had noticed that on my button you have here it takes you to my URL and not my blog, so I really need to fix that, try changing my button to the new one on my blog and I think that one will work good. :) I am going to check out the button tutorials.

As far as Blogger going away I understand that it is not, just more changes.. it will be all our followers will no longer be in our sidebars. :( This can mean a lot of loss of followers after building it for our blogs. They want us to now start a Google+ page to encourage followers.. Sheesh...another page....this may be hard to find our friends now... :( We all depend on our followers to chat and also to have visible, so I wonder how we will connect after March????:( I do like the new format that they have now because I can copy and paste photos and it is much easier....but the new rumor I believe is just that...Debb

I do appreciate the help to make a button. I know some people are switching ot wordpress. I'm still learning about blogger. :)

Well, I've heard a lot about the GFC thing (which caused me to join Google + - come find me if you get on!) but I haven't heard anything about Blogger. I hope not. I'm rather fond of it.

The snowy picture is beautiful I was scared about the blogger thing but after reading the other comments glad it isn't disappearing.. but do we really need more changes.

Southhamsdarling said...

Eeeek! No, I haven't heard of any changes happening to Blogger in March. Just imagine if all us Bloggies weren't able to keep in touch with each other any longer! :( No, they couldn't possibly do that to us. Hugs,

I will star this post and maybe try making one someday. Thanks for the links. I love barns, they are one of my favorites!

Angela said...

I hate it when they change things on us! I don't like the new gmail look at all. I did try it when they were offering you to look at it sooner and I didn't like it and I don't like it now!

When I get time I'll try to make a button.

Hugs,
Angela

Well I have the day off tomorrow so maybe instead of doing something constructive I could make a button :)
Loved the video.

I love the video clip. I am passing on this to my loved ones. Thank you for sharing.

Bless you! I have always wondered how. Now... as soon as I get time...
Maybe they want us to quit blogging and start writing letters so we can save the post offices??

Many many people have created google plus accounts. I've had one for a while, but I also have a Facebook fan page which I love. I'll keep using Blogger, it's not going anywhere.

I'm hiding under my desk. Even with instructions, I still haven't figured out how to get all those buttons at the bottom of a post.

Hi Sandie...Now that was a darling post. Loved your little snowman in the corner of the top scene. I didn't see him before. Was he always there?

Loved the old barn video. Sometimes I feel like an old barn, when my shingles creek and the cold wind blows through.

It was a nice image, really.

Take care and have a good Tuesday. Susan

Just back and catching up! Your header and background are beautiful!!! You got back sooner than me! I love your New Year's Wishes and Tails post!!!!

Hi Sandie, I know there is a Google Plus --but don't think it will replace Blogger. It's more like Facebook...

Glad you got the blog button thing all worked out... Bloggers are great help.

I still don't know what a blog button is. I do know that google blogs are going away but I didn't think it would affect the other blogs like blogspot or wordpress. Our den is decorated with barn wood. It is about the only thing the previous owners did that was nice decorating.

Yikes!! I hope that isn't true about blogger. What would we do???? Thank you for all the information you so generously share with us. blessings ~ tanna

Barns are part of my special memories. I used to go with my grandpa to milk the cows before the sun came up. He would squirt warm milk in my mouth but often missing just for fun and catching me in the face. Thanks for the memory. Stella

Hi Sandie,

I have a blog and blog, other than that I am clueless about Google Friend Connect. I'm sure there are many things I could be using but don't. Before I started blogging here at blogger I was blogging over at MSN Windows Live Spaces. That was shut down and everybody was forced to either join up at WordPress which is now their default blogging platform... Or move elsewhere.

With regards to buttons, I checked out some of the tutorials about buttons but it's all double dutch to me.

Does PSP stand for Photoshop? I don't know how to use Photoshop either.

For me, I find the BEST program for making stuff is good ole Microsoft Word. You can't beat it!

Cheerio, have a good one!

Did some research on Blogger - it sounds to me that it's not going to change for Blogger-hosted blogs. I sure hope so. They already mess so much other stuff up. Have you been reading about some of the problems people are having out there?

Where is a PERSON when you need them??? :( Grrr...
