Saturday - Some Public Service Information:

Good morning - It's a rainy day here in Georgia and I mean rainy!

I read this in a magazine and this was a quote from Dr. Oz - "Get more sleep. An extra 30 minutes if rest a night can help you drop pounds."

I think I can try to do that. That would be easy!

And this is from Angela at West Virginia's Treasures - she received this from her Rite Aid Store.

"Dear Rite Aid Customer,

We are writing to inform you that Novartis Consumer Health, Inc. is voluntarily recalling all lots of select bottle sizes of Excedrin® and NoDoz® products with expiry dates of December 20, 2014 or earlier, as well as Bufferin® and Gas-X Prevention® products with expiry dates of December 20, 2013 or earlier, in the United States.

We are taking this action as a precautionary measure, because the products may contain stray tablets, capsules, or caplets from other products, or contain broken or chipped tablets. We are not aware of any adverse events reported with the issues leading to the recall. However, we believe that a comprehensive recall as a precautionary measure is in the best interest of consumers who trust and rely on our products. If you have any questions or are experiencing an adverse event, you should contact your physician or heathcare provider as soon as possible. Consumers should also report the adverse event to the Novartis Consumer Relationship Center at 888-477-2403 (available Monday-Saturday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern Time).

If you have any questions about the voluntary recall or how to obtain a refund from Novartis Consumer Health, Please visit www.novartisotc.com or contact the Novartis Consumer Relationship Center.

Recalled Novartis Consumer Health products can also be returned to any Rite Aid store for a full refund.

These actions have been communicated to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). We are working closely with the FDA and will continue to do so throughout this process.

Additional information may also be found on the FDA website at www.fda.gov.

We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you. Please be assured that we are working as quickly as possible to get the products that you rely on back on store shelves.

Thank you for your continued support of NCH products. "

"Can You Guess What McDonald’s Food Item This Is?

Say hello to mechanically separated chicken. It’s what all fast-food chicken is made – things like chicken nuggets and patties. Also, the processed frozen chicken in the stores is made from it.

Basically, the entire chicken is smashed and pressed through a sieve — bones, eyes, guts, and all. it comes out looking like this.

There’s more: because it’s crawling with bacteria, it will be washed with ammonia, soaked in it, actually. Then, because it tastes gross, it will be reflavored artificially. Then, because it is weirdly pink, it will be dyed with artificial color.

But, hey, at least it tastes good, right?"

I did go to Snopes and checked this out - it is both true and false. Yes - there is such a thing as mechanically made meat. But no - since 2003 McDonald's has not been serving it. It is serving all white meat chicken. I put it on here because I thought it was interesting and to remind or tell you to check out how your meat is made - some places still use it.

Okay I'm feeling like a dooms dayer here - but I have one more question - I see the new blog application where you can write a reply. But why does it take you to the bottom of the page to comment before you even read the post? Then you have to go all the way back up? Grumble grumble. And a question - when the blog owner writes a reply does it stay there or is it sent back to the commenter?

Now tell me - do you go back and read the reply? Honestly?

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY -

i hate the way the comments have been acting since google made their changes. going to the bottom STINKS! and worse, when a blog page refuses to load because someone has changed their comments back to 'embed below post' in order to get that reply feature. i've got several blogs i can no longer comment on or even pull up...

Hi Sandie! Be happy for the rain. Snowing here. Hey, I missed your little dancing girl today. She was so darned cute.

On some blogs, it's harder to comment. I have to sign in my name and password. Still, on others, I am unable to comment as it's frozen. Always something, eh?

Oh YUK. I thought that "stuff" was strawberry ice cream----oh, to think it's chicken parts all squished together.....yuky yuk yuk.

Okay, well, on that note, hope you have an excellent Saturday! No processed chicken, though! ha ha ha Susan

Nancy said...

Well Sandie, I have been extra sleep and for some reason I am gaining weight...what do you think my problem is? hahahah

And as for the pink chicken...I just about threw up thinking about it....thank goodness I don't eat it but it makes you feel for those to do and don't know what they are ingesting.....

My youngest eats Tyson Chicken Nuggets as the mainstay of his diet. He is like an OCD picky eater!! His typical diet contains foods that I can probably count on just both hands!! I keep hoping that he will grow out of it but it seems to be getting worse. Sigh. I've tried the "letting him get hungry so he'll eat more variety" approach and he just goes hungry. Seriously. It drives me batty!! So I just try to do the best I can with trying to mix up his very limited diet. :-(

Yes, sometimes I do go back and read the replies. Not always but if it's important or interesting. :-)

Have a great weekend Sandie!! <3

I've been off of blogger for a few weeks, so I am unaware of the problems of which you speak. I will be looking to see if I encounter any. And, no I never go back to read comment replies. I barely can read postings!

And, I love your bottom photo because it does seem that when it rains, it pours.

Happy weekend.

Lisa @ Two Bears Farm said...

Oh, I love your new button!

I hadn't even noticed the reply thing. Shame on me!

That meat thing is gross. My boys sure love chicken nuggets though.

Marti said...

Right now I am making crock pot Mexican chicken, and it uses real chicken. That other stuff is nasty. So far I haven't had any problems with blogger, but a couple of people said that occasionally they could only comment using reply. Have a good day and stay dry.

Holly said...

Ok, I am thoroughly and utterly disgusted. Seriously that is sooo gross! I'd rather eat the smelly foamy potatoes I found in the bottom of my pantry last year. Gag.

Terra said...

I noticed a few blogs have that strange thing of opening to the bottom of all the comments. I didn't know that was a deliberate change and yes, it is annoying.
Oh well, I still enjoy visiting blogs and writing my blog.
Ugh to that photo of pink goo called chicken! Yikes!

Linda @ A La Carte said...

I swear these comment changes are driving me nuts! and no I don't go back to read a reply. I can barely visit all the blogs I want the first time! Icky chicken, gag! Onward!
hugs, Linda

Ok that pink stuff is kind of traumatizing. I'm so glad I never liked those products anyway.....ewww. I'm testing out the new reply thing on my blog. Still not sure

Debbie said...

Blech. That chicken grossed me out in a big old way.

I still don't think McDonalds chicken tastes like chicken. I like Chick-Fil-A.

I don't know about the comment thing. I'm afraid to try to add it. Can you add it if you have a pop up box instead of embedded? I had to change to a pop up because people couldn't leave a comment if I didn't.

I DON'T HAVE A ANSWER TO BLOGGER REPLY. I DON'T HAVE IT.... HOPE I DON'T GET IT.

MadSnapper said...

i have not tried to use the new reply, i dont' read replies, i don't give replies. i spend enough time just commenting, so i certainly don't go back and revisit. i think that reply thing is if i read a comment that someone else wrote, i can reply to it, i will not do that. or if i wanted to reply to someone who commented, but i don't even go in the blog to read my comments, i read them in my email and if they have email i reply, if they don't i just hit the delete button.

I too am having problems commenting on a lot of blogs. Really makes me mad.

So you are having rain. When it rains this time of year in Pennsylvania, we say.... At least we don't have to shovel it.

Rae said...

Don't think I will ever be able to eat a chicken nugget again in my life. Hot dog making is even worse. If everyone knew this stuff, I am sure the nugget and hot dog market would plunge. Stay dry and have a good weekend.

I'm finding several blogs where I can't comment anymore. It's frustrating, to say the least. And I'm glad you brought up about the post opening at the bottom of the page. I thought that was just me! Why, oh why, can't they (B.logger) leave well enough alone? Okay, I'll stop complaining now!
Have a great weekend!

I received that email from our Shoprite where it says I purchased Excedrin back in October from them and that I should no longer use it because of what they're saying. The only problem is I used the whole container already. I think I get too many headaches. :) I have no clue what the new way to comment is!!! Hope you're having a nice day!

Shelly said...

That chicken stuff is flat out gross! Yuck! They should post that in the fast food restaurants so you'd have to see it before you order.

I do go back and check for comments, and I hope that they get this commenting thing working correctly soon!

Stopping by to say Hi and to wish you a good day. Thankfully, we don't eat chicken nuggets, etc. and don't have any of the recalled meds!

Shopping used to be so much easier when you didn't have to worry about everything you put in your mouth. Now you need to look and see what is in it and where it comes from. I just spent the morning in the grocery store looking to see if the fish was from the United States or shipped in from China or Vietnam.

The Brown Recluse (TBR) said...

I really thought that was strawberry ice cream, and now I'm completely grossed out! I can't imagine why they just don't use something other than meat...because that's what they are using, something other than meat. I need to quit thinking about this.

About the comments...when you reply to someone, they don't get a notification that someone has replied to their comment, and I don't see a way to sign up for notifications. I think that's what you're asking?

The chicken process is disgusting!
I've had trouble leaving a comment on one blog. And on my blog most of the time it shows that I have 29members and other times it shows all of my members of 33.

Have a great weekend Sandie!

Ugh to the "chicken".
I have been having various problems commenting on some blogs for a while. I'm not sure about the reply box but I will have to check it out.

Belle said...

I can't believe it is legal to sell chicken that is doctored-up like that! Horrible. The little girl with the umbrella on the salt box brings a smile. I loved that picture when I was a little girl.

Debby@Just Breathe said...

Interesting stuff! That has been one of my pet peeves with blogging as far as the reply on the page. I thought who would ever go back to see if the blogger left them a message. Who has the time, not me!
Everyone needs to have their comments sent to their email address. Did you know that if you look in your spam that many no-reply peoples comments are in there?

EWWWW on the chicken.

I thought I was the only one having a problem with the blogs jumping right down to the comment section. I'm finding that very annoying. I never go back to see if there was a reply to my comments. I don't have the time.

Shug said...

Oh dear, how am I going to explain to my babies that there will be no more chicken nuggets...

This sounds terrible and insane for the FDA to even allow this ANYWHERE at ANYTIME. Thanks for sharing...

Blessings,

Hi Chatty -

When I comment on a blog, I'll sometimes check if there's been a reply the next time I visit. Many of the bloggers I visit do respond to comments.

I'm a Wendy's fan. They're pretty good about their food. I'd trust them over the other fast food chains. When my late husband was diagnosed with leukemia, it was the only place he was allowed to eat because they made their burgers fresh.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Betty said...

I've only noticed that today for the first time. It's a pain having to scroll back up to the top to read the post. I thought it was just me...you me everyone is having that problem?

Kroger left a recorded message warning me about Excedrin. The bottle was almost finished, but I had heard the warning earlier on the news and watched for broken pieces. There were none and I'm here to tell the story, so I guess my Excedrin was OK. :)

Betty said...

I just visited a couple of more blogs and now it's not happening. YEA!

I'm with you on the comment issues. It's driving me nuts!

Hi Sandie ~~ Better late than never. In Georgia land it is already tomorrow!

Rain here would be nice, here in our part of Texas we are back in the drought mode agin, or at least almost.

I am with TexWisGirl, there are some blogs that I can't comment on any more. I haven't had time to see if Blogger is aware of this or not.

Anyway soon I will leave as I'm at 97% of usage on my picture quota and I won't pay for more.

Have a nice Sunday,
..
No, I don't go back to read the replies. Unless I flamed someone there, in their minds. I figure they are for the other readers. If I need talking to they will reply to me on my blog.
..

couldn't agree more on the comment issues thing. it's driving me crazy.

that one is really weird. looks like strawberry ice-cream to me, too.

have a blessed Sunday!

I loved the rainy Saturday in Atlanta yesterday morning. A great excuse to burrow into the sofa and watch a movie. (Not that I ever need an excuse for that.)

I do come back and read replies sometimes - depends on the subject matter or if it's a slow day at work I always do that.

Nancy said...

I hadn't noticed the comment thingy on the blogs I read that have it. Maybe it has something to do with the browser? Not sure. And I don't think you get a response via email like you do with Wordpress. I think they are still working out the bugs. :)

Sharon said...

OK, as much as I guffawed on the last post, I am now gagging on this one. The chicken "stuff" is gross - very, very gross. Especially since I initially thought it might be a strawberry shake or something.

The new blog reply thing just happened on my blog because I have chosen the embedded comment format. I have found that I can read the post fine, but when you go to comment, yes it spits you all the way to the bottom. Who knows why?

And when the blog owner writes a reply it stays there, and it logs as another comment. So, theoretically, if I wanted 100 comments I could just keep talking to myself...

And yes, honestly, I do go back and read the reply. I think I'm nosy...

:)

G'day Sandie,

Hope you enjoyed the rain and you were able to get outside, kick your shoes off, and dance. What fun! Dancing in the rain.

The photo of the McDonald's mechanically separated chicken is GROSS! I thought it was actually strawberry thick-shake...

After Friday night here, I don't want to be eating any fast food for sometime! We had take away Chinese fried rice. We eaten a fair bit, before I discovered a fly in it. Ewww! I felt sick as.

I did take it back and complain, and asked for my money back. The young fellah wasn't very obliging until I said I'd report them to the health department. We had food from there before and there was a hair in it. The young fellah tried every trick in the book not to give me a refund. Even told me to ring the manager. I said to him, listen here, I'm not spending any more money, the only phone call I'll be making is to the health dept. He rang the boss then, and in less than a minute he'd refunded me the full price of all the take-away.

So it's home cooked for us for a while now.

Chat to you l8tr!

I almost threw up when I read about the chicken, I'm glad that I did read to the end though. Whew. I feel a teeny tiny bit better.

Sandi, I reply on my post very rarely, say never. I enjoy replying when the comment shows up in my email. That way I can respond immediately. It is aggravating however when the commenter has a no reply email address. If they have a no reply I can go back to the post and click on their name, a several step process, and reply.

I wishbloggers would have answerable email addresses connected to their comment.

Just saying.

Blessings, Ginger

The comment and reply problems are always crazy. I only serve whole fresh cooked chicken. That pink stuff looks awful.

Tanna said...

I'm still having an impossible time with the embedded comments, but truthfully, going back to find the responses is not something I usually do. If, like yours, it has the place to email follow-up comments and I have asked a question, I usually check that box. I love that option. Hope you have a wonderful week, Sandie!! blessings ~ tanna
