Thursdays Feelings

Sandra/Madsnapper sent this to me. She didn't have any idea what this cartoon would mean to me - she was just being sweet, but it just so happened it represented one of the best memories I have!

2003- My grandson was about 15 months old and my mother was 83. My grandson did not have a huge vocabulary at the time, but he did have sounds for certain things/ thoughts. My mother loved him so much. He loved her. Now, I don't mean to be morbid here, but she was dying. When she was in hospice in her final days the GS was on her bed with her. The minister was praying with us. We were all holding hands with one another. The GS went over to my mother and snuggled in with her. It was so sweet. It was like he knew she needed that. She told him, "I love you" and he said "Pooh" to her (he loved Winnie the Pooh so that was his word for I love you).

Those were the last words my mother ever said. Isn't that a wonderful memory? I think so. She went into a coma for a few days. All of a sudden her eyes opened, she looked at me, my daughter, and then my niece. She then raised her arm up because someone had come to get her - of course I believe it was Jesus.

And I do think this is true - you don't spell love - you have to feel love. Anyone can spell it.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

Can you think of any others to add?

And last but not least (lol) I'm going for a colonoscopy tomorrow! You know what that all means. I would appreciate a quick prayer.

I couldn't agree with you more and I think that's a wonderful, wonderful memory.

And yuck the colonsocopy. I will put that necessary unpleasantness on the list.

I had a colonopscopy almost 2 years ago and I never ever ever want another. Hope it all goes smoothly.

That's one of the most beautiful last memories I've ever heard!

Oh Sandie, I have tears in my eyes now. What a beautiful story about your mum and your grandson when he was very young. What a lovely way for her to go, and what a wonderful memory for you to hang on to. I love all the quotes today, especially the header photo and the Benjamin Franklin quote. I might well share some of these. I know you won't mind! Love your new profile pic by the way. Good luck for your Colonoscopy tomorrow. Prayers being said as we speak! Hugs.

What a lovely story! And your mom went off to Heaven with loving thoughts given and received. The cartoon is perfect for that.

And good luck on the colonoscopy - I had one of those before. The only tip I would give you is to not add lemon lime crystal light powder to the stuff you drink. I had that bright idea - thinking it would go down easier, but now I hate that flavor to this day. :)

What a sweet story describing love; precious memories I bet the family have of that time! Prayers for your colonoscopy, Sandie. I think sometimes the prep is worse than the actual procedure :)

I'm sure it will go fine!

Best wishes for a colonoscopy, sweet friend. Had mine a couple weeks ago & they only found (1) unwanted visitor, & it was removed.

I love the Pooh ... what a beautiful story.

I am miserable ... pulled muscle on my side & side effects from RA meds, look like a marshmallow.

Let me know you are ok after procedure.

I loved hearing this story. I believe one of the great blessings is to be surrounded by loved ones as one leaves this earth. My last sight of my father was of him raising his arms toward heaven also. He was so ready to go to be with the Lord. He slipped into sleep and peacefully died within a few hours of him reaching up to heaven and asking the Lord to take him.

Beautiful thoughts.
They brought back a memory of my Mother in Law about to go to heaven too. Our Granddaughter was about 2 and we all went into the hospital to say our goodbyes. Sweet little Granddaughter patted her cheek and said good bye Great Grandma. We love you. It was a huge sentence for her and they were the last words Mother in Law heard. Its a precious memory.
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment.
I'm putting you on my favorites list.

Yes, Sandie, it was Jesus!

Best wishes for your colonoscopy tomorrow. (Is that an oxymoron?) I pray for the doctors, for you, and for good results.

Katrin's mom, you just came from the the poodle post, died of colon cancer that had spread way too far before they found it. Her husband had died from colon cancer a couple of years before. We have Katrin, her dog.

I was saying that I will be more than happy to pray for you and I know you hate to have this done but it is good you are.
I love this story. It is a beautiful one to share with all of us. I so enjoyed reading it and I know your Mom would love having you share it with all of us.
Pooh is a great word for Love.
I met Angela through our awesome world of blogging. She is a brave and sweet lady. Glad she came by and said hello so I could join her site.
She had no cancer in her lymph nodes so that is a very good sign.
Thanks honey for introducing me to her.
I will think of you and pray for you

I so needed this post today. Thank you for always being an uplifting corner in my world. Things went very badly with the hubby at the psychologists. I will fill you in about it another time. :)

You are in my prayers. I used to work at a Gastro office, so well versed in the prep and procedure. Don't be afraid to speak up at any point. You shouldn't feel anything at all. Hugs!

That was, indeed, a most precious memory that you have, Sandie. Thanks for sharing that sweet story. Does GS remember?

By now you have made umpteen trips to the you-know-where. GOOD LUCK tomorrow. You will be sleepy.

Take care, Sandie. Will be thinking and praying for you. Susan

That was a beautiful story about your mom and grandson. She went with love, that is the best we could hope for.

Hope everything goes well tomorrow. I have been in that awkward position too many times. The good thing is that they put you out right after they tell you to lay on your side. I often wonder what makes a doctor choose that specialty.

What a precious story about GS and your mom. That was so very sweet.

Simple rules for happiness? Add this one - keep your eyes focused on Jesus.

And, as far as the dreaded colonoscopy - hope that went well. A toast to your well-being, "Bottom's Up!"
