Service Saturday

The difference between http: and https:

Once in a while, there is something that comes down the pike that is of real importance.
What is the difference between http and https ?
Don't know how many of you are aware of this difference, but it is worth sending to any that do not.....

**The main difference between http:/// and https:// Is it's all about keeping you secure**

HTTP stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol The S (big surprise) stands for "Secure"..

If you visit a website or web page, and look at the address in the web browser, it will likely begin with the following: http:///. ; ;

This means that the website is talking to your browser using the regular 'unsecured language'. In other words, it is possible for someone to "eavesdrop" on your computer's conversation with the website.

If you fill out a form on the website, someone might see the information you send to that site. This is why you never ever enter your credit card number in an http website!

But if the web address begins with https://, that basically means your computer is talking to the website in a secure codethat no one can eavesdrop on.

You understand why this is so important, right?

If a website ever asks you to enter your credit card Information, you should automatically look to see if the web address begins withhttps://. If it doesn't, You should NEVER enter sensitive information....such as a credit card number, SS # etc.

Now my sister works in California.  For the government.  You know California is a world of it's own - and don't take me wrong - I love California and if I could afford it - I would be out there in a second. I would bring everyone out and move right next to my sister.  It's just different and I think costly.

So when they go to the bathroom out there - as they are short on water - they have to set the toilet to whether they are going number 1 or number 2.

Now if they don't they could get terminated/!
That is what the sign says.
How do they know what you do?
Do you think this is something you'll see where you live in the future?
Thank you sis for the information!

Now one more thing from Angela at West Virginia's Treasures.

Here is some information if you have a Facebook account of why to be careful of it and what you put on it,

Well I think this is a lot of good information my fellow bloggers sent me and I wanted to pay it forward.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

Love, Chatty

This was a reply from thinking Wednesday when I talked about the future and health care:

1."i wanted to let you know that health insurance companys are now measuring waist sizes, and determining how much your insurance premiums will be!
a college in portland is doing that to the teachers and whom ever that are covered by health insurance.
the bigger your waist size- then you pay more for health insurance.
can you believe that?"  Tweedles

2.And about those new trackers to put in your car- another way to keep track of our lives - Thanks Theresa

3.  Did you see on the tech news today when a senator in NY has introduced a bill that would make it mandatory for anyone leaving a comment on a website to use their legal name, give their IP address and their home address? The idea behind it is to help combat online bullying which would be good but total loss of privacy on the internet would not be.    Thanks Judy

So much interesting to share today! I hope we don't get as regulated here in GA as they are in CA. My cousins from CT are generally surprised at the freedoms we have here regarding our lives that they don't have in their state.

And the waist measuring thing is interesting and all the more reason for me to whittle mine down! (I do think it makes sense at some level, but then again I think of the skinnies I know who have horrible health habits. )

...but, what if you have to 'doo' both? Is there a setting for "3" instead of #1 or going #2?!!!

Oh, me too, I love California. But, as you say, so darned expensive to live there.

Golly, gosh...gee whiz, I did NOT know that about http vs. https. That was something we should all know, so I thank you for the input.

And, I will email you after I post this comment. Please keep my email private tho. Okay? [if you don't see me in your inbox, look in the spam folder.]

Great information, Sandie!

On the "flush" thing, do you have to choose before you sit? I mean, until then sometimes you don't know what you're gonna do. :)

Have a great weekend. Hope hubby is feeling better!

Thank you for all those good bits and pieces of info today. I didn't realize the importance of the https' either but am going to look out for them now. I copied the info to pass on to others too. Hope you are having a super Saturday. Just got back from visiting with DD and newest grandson. She had a rough night vomiting so prayers for her would be appreciated.

Are you serious about the toilets in California? As if it isn't enough that we can't buy the strong flush ones anymore...are they only in public buildings? Hopefully not in private houses. The security thing is good to know. Years ago, a secure website used to have a little gold lock on the bottom, now it is changed to this. Hope you are having a great weekend!

Paula said...

OMG You're full of info and thank you for it. I agree with Sally sometime you just don't know what number to push for your trip to the toilet.

Belle said...

We moved into a house with low-flush toilets that were supposed to save water. Unfortunately, they don't even flush away pee. You have to hold the handle down or flush twice. You actually use more water.

I have to say, I like that new invention if it actually works - which I doubt!

The https is very interesting. I have never ever heard of the toilet thing where I live. I know in Paris our toilet at the hotel had two different flushes. It is getting kinda scary with all these pet food warnings. Not sure who to trust. Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Sandie dear,
Thank you for visiting my blogs,
and posting your heartfelt words!
Oh! Your today's post is great...
Awesome food for thoughts, Sandie!
Your grandson's pics are so cute.
I agree about pet foods; we should be very careful about what sort of food we feed to our best friends, the animals...
I feed my cats with the best pet food available, plus natural treats, chicken, meat, fish...
Well, about privacy in the Internet or Facebook, we should be very careful about that. I think we should not give out our real names, or private address, or phone numbers, or credit cards, or other personal things. If we do it, we may get at risk, we may become vulnerable towards public views. I know many people who sell things in the Internet, so they give out all kind of personal information to the public, in order to sell their products. I can understand their needs. But thanks God, I do not need to do that... I don't sell anything!! All I do is share my honest friendship online. If nice folks want to be my online friend, it'll be just great. If they don't want me, well, that is their choice...
I am available towards worthwhile Christians with moral everlasting values. Lovely people who could be a role model to their children, a good example of life for others.
About me, yes, I use a lovely artistic name, which I plan to change at anytime, and I won't tell things about that again!
I have realized that many Online folks use FLAGS, in order to catch who is reading their blogs. But, I do NOT USE FLAGS, because I feel that I am open to the world, and it doesn't matter to me who is reading or viewing my posts...
I feel sorry for the ones who use flags, for they are certainly afraid of something. Perhaps, they want to know more about their Online Community, or WHERE THEY ARE LOCATED, or they are just afraid that someone could steal something from them. I do not steal anything. I am a very nice Christian American (U.S.A.)lady, a poet, freelance writer, artist, singer, song-writer, and a grandmother too...
If they don't want to be my Online friend, as I have already said, it'll be their personal choice.
I love your wonderful blog, Sandie.
Every time I visit your blog, I find something amazing to learn from you, sweetheart. I hope your dreams may come true about RELOCATING TO CALIFORNIA CLOSED TO YOUR DEAR SISTER. I know California is a very expensive State to live in. I lived there for one whole year when my daughter was 3 years old. Well, I had bad luck, and I had to return back to New York, because things were just too difficult for me to handle alone, back then in LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
We rode the GREYHOUND BUS from New York to L.A. in 1982. It was a crazy experience all together. I would never do it again, especially with a child. But, we did it, my daughter and I rode the Greyhound Bus on Route 66 all the way from the East Coast to the West Coast. We have been to so many places, our journeys of a lifetime that we'll never forget.
Yes!! I am a grandmother who is presently undergoing a special state of mind. I am going through MY SECOND CHILDHOOD. That is OK, I guess, because life is just too short. We may live today to the fullest, as if it were our last day. Well, Sandie, I think I am writing another chapter of my future novel. You see, I write short stories, poems, thoughts, songs, and short novels as well. My dream is to become a published author, one day in the future. God set a plan for our lives, and God's will be done.
God bless you, Sandie, and those you love in every step of the way!!
I am still praying for your husband's complete healings.
Let us know the updates on his health, please!!
Have a terrific week!!
Hugs and Blessings,
Poet Starry.

Thanks for all this info; security is a good thing to be informed about. I see those toilets here in California; they are in lots of homes too, to conserve water, and are easy to figure out.

Lots to think about today. I agree that the waist size has bearing on health but I can't help but remember when I had the smallest waist, I was a 2.5 pack a day smoker. Blanket rules have too many gray areas and ignore the variables.

#1 or #2 or #3
Sometimes one just simply doesn't know what the potty "outcome" will be. Is there an undecided setting. There's simply something WRONG with that. WRONG!

Wow! I did not know the toilet thing existed at all! That is wild! Now back in October we got a new toilet for our half bath that doesn't use much water at all. I love it because it never clogs! lol We liked it so much we replaced the one upstairs with one like it. Sometime we'll change the one in our bathroom too. Having well water we have to watch our water especially in the summer.

Hugs,

What IMPORTANT information. I appreciate you posting this. I think I would be a bit self conscious about setting a toliet for #1 or #2. Sometimes #2 just happens. when they start measuring waists, it should be waste instead. That is whyat they are doing with our time and money. Take care. ENJOYED these.
